I'm new to Dixon and was searching for a local Salon, so I booked an appointment here. After many hours of text discussion with my initial stylist, we had a plan! She unfortunately had to cancel the night before but got me rebooked with another stylist on the same day at a different time. Ok fine. Appt was for 3pm and the second stylist told me at 12:21 that she had "a conflict". I told her I was disappointed and she replied that she could still keep the appt. I replied 17 minutes later that, yes, I wanted to keep the appt but got a, "Sorry it didn't work out" in response. This is a salon that requires that you place a credit card on file, so that if YOU cancel with less than 48 hours notice they will charge you 100% for the missed appt. A little one-sided, don't you think Sisters? In that time leading up to my schedule appt I could have been finding an appt elsewhere. Disappointing and unprofessional to say the least! read more

I am not one to give bad reviews but I wish I had been warned. I went to see Heather last Saturday for a partial highlight touch up. I was so excited to try the salon and meet her, I wanted to keep my business local to Dixon. First thing I told her was that I hated yellow highlights. Well my hair turned out super yellow! My son said I looked like the lion from the wizard of Oz. And the highlights were choppy/blocky (it's in the pics). I paid $180 with a $20 tip and didn't get anything of what I was looking for. I was super upset at the results, I let her know and didn't get the response I was hoping for. After thinking about it I decided to go see another stylist in Vacaville. She was shocked at the way my hair looked and my cut. The last three pics were taken by her. The bad cut, head view and a side view while she was recoloring my hair. I paid again for my hair to be fixed and now it is way shorter than I would've liked but she had to cut off the choppy layers. But at least I'm happy now and have found my forever stylist at Bloom. read more

My 8 year old wanted to get a "wolf cut" and I found this spot on yelp. I am so glad this is where I took my daughter. Heather was the stylist she was booked with and we have zero complaints. I have been going to Sisters Salon to have my hair done by Nicole. She has done an amazing job on my hair for several years now. I had lost a lot of hair from surgery and medication. Nicole managed to bring my hair up to a beautiful blonde, keep it healthy, and she told me which products to purchase that would work best on my hair. Thanks to Nicole, my hair had been steadily growing back. I was extremely impressed and pleased with Nicole. A few months the ago, Nicole had to go on maternity leave as she is having twins, and the doctor told her she had to take it easy. Since she was not going to be back for months, I was booked an appointment with another hair dresser at Sisters, who goes by MJ. This is where things went wrong. My best friend was with me (the day of my appointment (she is also a client of Nicole's) and we both told MJ the way Nicole has always done my hair. We told her that Nicole used foils. I asked if MJ had a way to look up my history, which she said she did, and looked it up on her cell phone, and said she found it. She proceeded to do my hair; however, she did not use foils, and the result was an orange brassy color all over the top of my head, which she referred to as "warm" and I called horrible. MJ then put another color on my head to cut the brassiness. That color helped, but not enough, so she put yet another color on my hair. This time it did remove most of the brassiness; however, this left my hair much darker. After being there for hours, we were finally able to leave. MJ charged me for the initial coloring of my hair, then she charged me for both colors she put on me to cover/correct the horrible orange color. In other words, she charged me to fix her mistakes. I was not happy with the way she cut my hair, as she did not follow Nicole's lines. Then I was unable to pay her, because she was doesn't take credit or debit cards. Fortunately, my best friend was with me, and paid for my bill, which was $200. I feel this was a significant overcharge. I still gave her a 20% tip, but I regret doing that, especially the way my hair looked when I left, and the subsequent breakage I'm experiencing due to the products she used on my hair. I am only leaving a one star review based on my last experience there with MJ. If I were leaving this review on the last few years with Nicole , it would be a 5 star review, without question. read more

One cut off a good 20+ inches... her straight across cut is uneven. my other daughter wanted a bob & curtain bangs... her bob is also uneven.. & her curtain bangs??????? Did my research and still ended up disappointed!! Was recommended to this salon by a friend for a cut, went in and got a cut by Meghan. The cut turned out good. Decided to go back for a full highlight a few months later. Booked online with Meghan for full highlight, came to my appointment, and I explained what I wanted, showed multiple pictures and gave detailed explanation. Even showed a picture of what my hair looked in the last years that I wanted to mimic. I did say I was ok to leave the bottom layer my natural color, since I am ok with the contrast from underneath. Explained to her that I did not like the outcome at end of appointment and then she said it would the same price or more to fix it. It turned out gray in the front and the rest was still mostly natural color. When in fact it should have been solid blonde after the soft root transition. read more

After hearing rave reviews from a co-worker about Sister's Hair Boutique in Dixon, I figure I had nothing to lose and would give them a try since I haven't had much good luck in terms of my hair for the last couple of years. I worked a half day and stopped by here afterwards to have my hair done. I had to park a ways across the street but the location was not hard to find at all. It seems small but upon entering this salon opens up nicely. I love the decor and color themes....light cream, greys, blues - very beach like. Inside was very clean and work stations were in neat order. Nicole was my stylist and she was super nice. She listened to what I wanted done and did an excellent job. I went from long, dark and dry hair to short shoulder length hair with layers and highlights. She curled and styled it for me before I took off and I seriously feel 5 years younger lol. I've actually received compliments since then and it takes me less time to style and take care of my hair now. Super happy customer, will definitely be returning. This is best hair boutique in Dixon. Foremost, Shelby does my hair color, keratin treatment and trim. I have. Even a client for about three years. Six very talented professionals with clientele decided to start their own shop. First, they did a fabulous job of fixing up a downtown loft and decorating. It is open, inviting, trendy. Their are couches for waiting a nice coffee or tea table and lots of product and accessories for sale. Additionally, the thriving 'Bella Moda' boutique moved in to loft. I wish I could give zero stars but I don't think I would be able to write my review. Let me begin by saying that I've lived in Dixon a short while and it's a really interesting place to say the least. So the other the day I went into the salon and was met by a seemingly nice young woman and asked to make an appt. She obliged and set me up with a stylist named McKala (I knowwww I'm spelling that wrong) at 12 today. This particular stylist wasn't there at the time which is fine. I wanted the next available appt and she was open and I thought I give it a go. This is my first time letting anyone at this salon touch my hair. I'm looking for someone local due to me having a few kiddies and not in love with a ton of driving. So today I go in, early at that. I have my two sons with me. My children are very well behaved and my baby was asleep. I set my son up with a snack and he was on his way to sleep because we had a long morning. The baby was still napping...I'm saying all this because I know some people can let their kids just go crazy and leave that out of the review. Not the case in my situation. When I arrive (early)...I trying to get in the door with a stroller and holding my son. These women just took at me....in particular a heavy set woman with short platinum hair. I've had one other run in with her and I thought her rude attitude the first time was because of something else and not me. I tru to give people the benefit of the doubt. Well again I met her with straight rudeness again. Did anyone help me with the door..NO. And then she looks at me like "what are you doing here, look." When I say I have an appt, she's like "OH". All this while I'm struggling to get it. I finally managed to get in while three people look at me like I'm an alien from outer space not lifting a finger. I go straight to the settee to get my sons settled and she (platinum heavy lady), says your stylist isn't here. Now I can get that you might be running late but they gave me the impression she wasn't concerned. When I set the appt, I gave my number to them, so she could have called me. Do you think they asked me if I needed anything...water, coffee while I wait..NO Do you think they followed up with me and told me why the stylist (mackala) was running late..NO So I'm sitting there with sleepy sons and then I started to think. Then it hit me, what kind of service and I going receive if they are already treating me like straight street trash. So 15 mins with no communication goes by and I decided to leave. Do you think they said anything to stop me or offer to help me step up something with someone else..NO Did they apologize..NO Did anyone from the salon call me back to apologize ...NO I'm black and I have curly hair and maybe she was intimidated but she never met me or spoke to me. I can't help to think if there wasn't a tinge of racism involved due to their actions. I'm disgusted at the way I was treated. I can't cue in every dirty look and side eye but it happened. They can't say my kids were being unruly because they were quiet as church mice. This salon is one of many on the same block. Keep walking but unless you want to support unprofessionalism. As a member of the military, I've been all over the world and dealt with many personality types, Dixon is in a whole other kind of category. I'm curious to see if my review will get a response. Heather does an amazing job! I love my hair after she trims it I'd recommend her to anyone! Previous to seeing her, I had really choppy levels in my hair from a previous hair dresser, and the one I had continue to see prior to her simply cut it shorter each time I saw her but didn't really correct it. I like my hair long and am not really into layers. I like long hair and having it more even show cases it better and keeps it feeling thicker and healthier (my hair is fine and I don't like the feel of layers. A more even length feels better. Plus I don't really style it so layers don't look nice.) I wanted to just cut it all shorter to make it even till it grew out but when I got there I couldn't do it, I wasn't sure what I wanted with my hair honestly other than having it more even than the awkward steps it had. I brought a picture of my hair and what I wanted and Heather was able to work with me on figuring out what I wanted and I loved it! She softened it and blended it together so it looked more natural. I love it. Heather is super nice too. :) Everyone there is so friendly it's such a nice atmosphere. read more

I have been going to my stylist before she was at Sisters. I have had many hours of conversation while sitting in her chair. Before finding her, I would travel to nearby cities for services as I haven't clicked with any one stylist here in town. She always does great work and is professional at every level. She always knows just what to do with my hair on days I have no idea of what I want or what my hair even needs. I am surprised at the other women's review of Sisters. She states "these women" were looking at her, then singled out one women in particular. It sounds like her feels should be directed to the stylist who her appointment was with or the person who made her appointment. I hope she finds someone to satisfy her. read more

There are only two instances where I will even bother to write a yelp review - when something is really bad or extraordinarily good. Shelby falls on the extraordinarily amazing side of the spectrum. For the first time ever, a stylist actually listened to what I wanted and completely nailed it. The massages she gives when she washes your hair is reason enough to go to her.
