The staff was helpful, though, and suggested that I check out second-hand stores since the stuff I was looking for is already out of print! Selections here are still pretty good. I was able to find some rare records such as Joy Divison and New Order. Stuff you can't find in America. The record store sells mostly pricey brand new LPs, but CDs are still affordable.

When we stumbled into Fopp in Covent Garden, I was immediately in love. Not only did they have a ton of vinyl, band tees and movies on display, they had an impressive selection of really great books at super reasonable prices. I ended up picking up a copy of A Clockwork Orange and American Psycho on the cheap - something that I've been wanting, but now had no excuse. There are multiple floors to explore. Though it's on the smaller side, it still packs a punch!

Don't get me wrong I like help, but nothing puts me off more in shops than not being given a chance to look and ponder. You know how it is working out the best deals, where you saw them etc. I haven't had that in HMV before. Please HMV give me a chance to come and ask for help if I need it. Perhaps I look like I need help. L.O.L. Apart from that I've always liked HMV.

Musical tuition is also provided by friendly teachers. I have taken drum lessons there and I can recommend it. They do sell some vinyl, mainly singles but also a few albums too. They also have posters, clothing, badges and patches and some guitar accessories. They are very helpful in this shop, they use the internet to answer any customers requests and will order in anything they do not have in stock. The other thing I like is that they give away all of their ex-promotional posters to anyone who asks, this is a very nice added extra that you would probably not find in a chain shop. Their prices are quite competitive too.

I would not recommend using their mail order or eBay ordering service. You are told to leave items…read morein your basket and request invoice for combined shipping. When I did this for 2 items the price of one item increased by £10. When I cancelled the order and told them why they denied that they changed it calling me a liar. A long backwards and forwards of messages then ensued asking me to reorder, pay and they will refund difference. They say combine postage but then say they cannot do it. The change was made on eBay outside of shop hours so only the owner or manager of the store could have done this. They then got nasty and barred me from ordering from them because I caught them out.
