Things stated off well, Veronica had an introductory phone call with us that went well and she offered some good suggestions. However after that the communication totally broke down and she pretty much ghosted us when we had questions about our tax return. As someone using a CPA for the first time, I found myself wondering why am I paying when I feel like I am trying to figure this out alone (basically felt abandoned). We asked some basic questions back in March, she responded once, and that was it. She then emailed my husband that she's been on a trip to Japan. Going out of country right during tax season as a CPA is a choice and that's fine, just COMMUNICATE WITH US. Anyways on Sunday, 3 days before taxes were due, we still had no reply so we just relented and submitted what she had prepared. Anyways, just disappointed. Not going to her next year. They had a great experience with Erica Martinez (CEO), so I called to make an appointment straight away. I was linked up with Oliver Ng (Senior Accountant) for my tax appointment in February 2020.  I uploaded everything into their portal (super easy) a few days before and Oliver had everything ready to go when we arrived at the office. Our return was complicated having just started an S-Corp with 2 different businesses (2 DBAs) under it in 2019 + our personal side. Oliver reduced our taxable income with every allowable expense ensuring the largest return possible. Oliver is kind, knowledgeable and patient. He answered my multitude of questions happily during our appointment and provided tax guidance for my new businesses for 2020. He e-mailed everything to us that afternoon for E-signing in order to E-file our return same day. He has also answered MANY questions regarding SBA Loans and other COVID-19 driven issues since then promptly and comprehensively via e-mail. If you own your own business and you're doing your own taxes, you might not be using your time efficiently. Your time is likely worth more (doing other business tasks) based on Paragon Accountants' pricing.

**RUDE AND OVERPRICED. They requested I pay $500 for work that I ended up paying another CPA $100…read morefor.** I had the misfortune of dealing with Ms. Suzie, a rude and condescending business representative that made sure I will never be using the services of this firm and its bloated fees. As part of my green card application I was asked by my immigration lawyer to provide the immigration authorities with a letter from a CPA. The letter was about three lines long and required minimal accounting work, which summed up to estimating 2013 annual income based on previous tax return filings. Basically, a work that would take more time to type up than to prepare the "analysis" (which had already been put together by another bookkeeper who had provided Ms. Suzie with the materials and the analysis beforehand). It seemed that Ms. Suzie, too, was well aware of the minuscule amount of work my letter required, since when I asked for an ETA she indicated that the letter could be produced within less than a day. I'm assuming that my question also indicated to Ms. Suzie my pressing need for the letter, as I had also mentioned to her that I was required to submit it as part of my immigration process. Ms. Suzie told me that writing the letter would cost me $500. Yes, you read that right. 500 bucks for three lines and a few minutes worth of work!! At first, I was certain I had misstated to her what the letter should contain and that as a result of that Ms. Suzie may have been under the impression that I had required more work than what was really needed, since surely no one in their right mind would charge so much for such little work. When I called Suzie to inquire about the fee I was faced with a condescending and rude tone that quickly turned into a full on obnoxious and testy attitude when I tried to make sense of her fee (if it was a flat consultation fee, for example, or an hourly charge). Not only did Suzie avoid answering my questions, but she also hissed at me that she "urges" me to "go around and call other CPAs", since she is "sure" that I would get some other firm to write the letter for me for a smaller fee, and that she is "happy" with that. I have no idea why anyone would talk to a client this way, but I sure am not going to give business to this kind of rude customer service. I hope that Suzie's understanding of my immigration status and pressing need for the letter didn't factor into her decision to jack up the price for me. I don't know. But given that she was so reluctant to explain her fee to me I also can't know better. I would like to mention though that I do not know Mr. Wendroff and I have never spoken to him about the fee I was given nor the work I was asking for, so it might be that he was not involved in my request at all. If so, I'm very sorry for giving his business such a bad rating, which is solely based on my awful experience with Ms. Suzie Korth.

We didn't need her to do bookkeeping as we did our own but so she could familiarize herself with our company. We weren't going to do my taxes until I received all my 1099's to make sure all the numbers were correct. When I did receive all 1099's I noticed on a reconciliation file from paypal that they were double reporting me and I sent her the files to look at to confirm my suspicions. At first she didn't understand, then I sent another file and a detailed response to her voice mail and another detailed response to her email stating she would just do my tax returns and that's it. By now this is the 3rd day and several hours wasted on trying to get an answer about what I was seeing. I'd been trying to get a confirmation of what I was seeing and she still had not answered my simple question of, were they double reporting some income. She stated that she was too busy to look at the stuff as she was in full swing and didn't have the "bandwidth" to field my questions. One. Simple. Question. I found that when I did talk on the phone she was somewhat rude when she was challenged. As in how dare I tell her she might be doing something wrong. But in the end she never did answer my questions and with all the emails sent back and forth it was very apparent that she had never really looked at the files I sent her otherwise she could have just answered my 1 simple question. You are supposed to be my "tax professional" yet couldn't take the time to answer my question. we are PAYING for YOUR SERVICE, you should answer the questions of the customer who would be paying you, thankfully we didn't go with her. I also had asked for a quote which I got initially and when asked her again a month later to make sure I had the numbers right she had raised her quote by 250$ more than the initial quote and I had to call her on that. We decided that it was best not to work with her and did find a tax professional who spent 30 minutes with me initially, answered my questions and then called me back 5 days later to ask me more questions to clarify things on the returns and books I sent him to familiarize him with my business. A true Professional. Took the time to talk, and answer my questions and then ask more. Even though he was in "Full Swing" of tax season. I can't really recommend this person.
