At 3:40 I checked again and they realized I had been skipped over. The staff was pleasant but there is a problem with the system. As business owner, My time is valuable and I was disappointed with the lack of attention to my appointment. My customers drive my business just like patient driven care is driving me to write this review.

I have EDS, craniocervical instability, dysautonomia and transverse myelitis, all of which have been an ordeal to untangle, and she's been completely brilliant in her ability to juggle both the big picture and small details simultaneously within a variety of rare issues. After burning through multiple specialists, she was actually the first person to suggest I could have Ehlers-Danlos, an unusual genetic condition. How she even knew about this is beyond me, as most EDS patients are first introduced to it by a specialist, definitely not a generalist like their PCP. She then sent me to a geneticist at BWH who confirmed her hunch. She also suspected I have Lyme when no one else did, ordered blood work from Quest and -- lo and behold -- it came back shriekingly positive while everyone else was burying their heads in the sand. She's extraordinarily adept, and I'm only scratching the surface of other rocks she's managed to look under that no other doctor thought to. Dr. Byrne has also pulled together a very skilled and compassionate front office who make booking appointments and asking questions easier than any other medical office I've ever dealt with. Rebecca and Teresa have helped with so many complicated things over the years and been completely unwavering. She's also very easy to book follow-ups with and always seems to make sure she has last-minute slots available. She's fundamentally there for her patients and, beyond her formidable intelligence, is also just a very reassuring soul when facing a seemingly endless stream of medical problems. Root Family Medicine is a vibrant reflection of Dr. Byrne, an unmatched PCP who is exceptionally smart, intrinsically open-minded and genuinely caring. If everyone could have a PCP like her the world would be a much, much healthier place. I'm eternally lucky to have Dr. Byrne as a bright lighthouse in the fog of an unusual medical picture.

Dealing with this nurse and office has been an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. Due to the lack of doctors…read morecurrently accepting new patients, I trusted this Nurse to take on the responsibility of becoming my Primary Care Provider. That has proven to be a huge mistake. A few days after my initial visit, I got a notification to check the portal to review my bloodwork results. Upon opening my chart I was surprised by what I read. Nurse William Vitale wrote in my chart that I have a history of being "extremely overweight" with poorly controlled Diabetes. I am, however, 5'9 and have never weighed over 145 lbs in my life. He also wrote that I suffer from "pain radiating to the lower abdomen". I do not suffer from any pain. Clearly he made some mistakes when writing his notes. This seemed easy enough to correct. However, trying to get this corrected has been an impossible task. His office at 12 Uxbridge rd in Mendon Massachusetts referred me to the practice manager Michael Shifman. Mr Shifman claimed to have taken care of the issue but nothing was actually corrected. He sent me a certified letter stating it was corrected accompanied by a print out of the chart. NOTHING HAD BEEN CORRECTED. I was then referred directly to RISK MANAGEMENT. It has been over 30 days since I first brought this issue to the attention of Mr Vitale's office and as of July 28 2022, nothing has been done. I do not recommend this practice. I would not bring your loved ones here.

For the past ~20 years I've seen doctors here on and off, and I've always felt like my health concerns have been taken seriously which as a woman isn't a guarantee. I've got to assume the reason appointments are always so far in the future is because they're not accepting new patients and that's how long physicals are pushed out for. As a patient already seeing them, they've been able to schedule me same-day multiple times. The women who will answer the phones if you call here are always busy which I think some people can misinterpret as rude, which I don't think merits a bad review.
