The restaurant is in the middle of town within a few blocks to the main town square. The menu has pictures of the nunnery attire, maybe how they brewed their own beer? They only had it in Dutch, no English menu. Food: 3/5. Bland food, which is not uncommon for Flemish cuisine, but meat was also quite tough. We tried the 2 most popular dishes, Brochette Oud Clooster, and Rundsstoverij met Westmalle Dubbel, and were not impressed. Both bland. The brochette was supposed to be medium rare but came out well done. Dry and tough. The dipping sauce has a hint of curry but wasn't enough to carry the whole dish. The stew has a yummy base, I could pick out the beer flavors (Belgians truly have the best beers in the world). Meat pieces were tough, which is a shame given this is a stew. They should have use a fattier cut of beef like chuck. Meme Gusta has a similar but much more flavorful Flemish stew. The no-bake cheese cake was light and refreshing. Good for 1 person, small to share between 2. Service: 2/5. They had no English menu. At this point I have come to Belgium enough to pick out a few familiar terms, but I would have liked to be able to see what other dishes they had. Had to aggressively flag down waiter whenever we needed something. they also charge €1.80 for tap water. This place is popular enough even for locals that one can't get in without reservations. We were told they only have 2 slots: 6-8 or 8-10. We picked the earlier one. The restaurant was only half full until about 7.

I love the food!…read more Ceviche, Spicey Gambas, Meatballs in Tomatosauce and Guacamole! Every dish was very well done! The atmosphere is lovely: the cook is singing along to Spanish music. The barmaid was so friendly, customer-orientated, observant and funny! Now it seems there are a lot of locals in this place, coming in for a beer, pisco or a chat. I would always recommend to go back to this place for the quality of the food and the atmosphere.

GLAS IN OUR FOOD AND NOT EVEN AN APOLOGISE!…read more Maybe as a Bar can have more than 1 star, but as a restaurant I'll give them minus stars. For sure. I'm Chilean and a professional cook and I felt so ashamed for the shit food that we got. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is interested to discover Chilean food. First of all, the plates had an horrible presentation and I'm quiet sure that they were reheated in the microwave. Cooked vegetables in a wierd sauce (not Chilean at all) with rice (basmati rice with a few pieces of paprika, unflavoured and I haven't taste something like that in my country ever!), then a ceviche that the not fresh fish was marinated in lemon maybe for more than a few days, again with Paprika (not typical at all) and that's it! mashed potatoes PASTEL, with a presentation that made me think that the cook dropped it on the floor and put it in the plate again and for the last plate, my friend had meat balls with rice (everything had this disgusting rice on te side) with a very nice surprise: GLAS! We said it to the waiter and he didn't even apologise he just took it away to the kitchen or the shit place where they prepare the stuff and he didn't dare to come back to our table to say something else about it and at the end he just discount the plate with the piece of glass. The owner which I think is also the cook has a shit attitude, rude and unfriendly. At the end of our dinner (21h) he seems to be drunk and he annoyed us with his loud way to sing (or scream mainly) To summaries SHIT FOOD, EXPENSIVE PRICES (considering the quality) and CRAP SERVICE! so at the end as a Chilean cook living abroad since a long time, I never felt so ashamed for going to this place with Belgian friends, a place that supposed to serve Chilean food. PLEASE, DONT GO TO THIS PLACE, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

Truly an all-day operation, lunch and dinner offered along with breakfast while several bakers arrive before dawn to make sure leavening items are progressing while preparing the wood ovens for a busy day, De Superette sees Desramaults teaming with two other with a focus on high quality organic breads baked in the old tradition, the execution truly remarkable with such dedication that the restaurant actually generates embers for the grill from the wood used to heat the oven made of stone. A relaxing space with a kitchen that gives those interested the opportunity to see nearly every aspect of bread production, as well as unique things like apples being roasted over direct flame to make apple juice or jam, De Superette takes the traditional "coffee house" vibe to new levels with tableside service as well as grab n' go options, both investigated to the fullest over the course of a 60 minute stay. Opting for the complete breakfast in addition to several pastries it was with WiFi barely logged into that the first of several items began to arrive and with good coffee served black via pour-over next to rosy Apple Juice first bites of the Kouign Amann sent the mind spinning - questions arising as to whether any previously experienced even came close to this degree of caramelization atop melted butter, the answer a resounding no after subsequent bites while the Pain aux Chocolat was equally archetypical with a robust shell overlying arches of lamination around pipelines of melted dark chocolate. Deciding savories were in order, the meat, cheese and butter all made either in-house or at In de Wulf, a board of Copa, Butter, Sourdough, Soft Cheese and Confiture soon arrived next to a scalding cast-iron skillet with two runny eggs topped in foraged Mushrooms, Leeks, Woodland Herbs and hard Cheese added after baking with each taste showing the benefits of passion and product sourcing as the pork literally melted on the tongue while the makeshift scramble was woodsy with a great juxtaposition of textures whether placed on Toast or eaten by itself. Taking the rest to go, a total bill just under €30 a bit pricey but worth every cent, it was later that afternoon that four more items were enjoyed as a snack and although the streets of Bruges were a slightly different scene than the dining room at Guldenspoorstraat 21 the results were no less impressive as both cookies felt like someone had upgraded American ingredients simply by trying harder, the Bread Pudding filled with all sorts of texture from fruit, nuts, chocolate and custard while the toothsome Spelt Bread saw Frangipane's sweetness put to good use overlying a thin layer Berry Jam.

Fantastic location and delicious food!…read more We followed a local insider tip and were lucky to get the last available table for the night. The service was very welcoming and hospitable. We order three different dishes: beetrootsalat, aged lamb and chicken with aiolie. All three very delicate dishes with a lot of different flavored. We had heard that the bread was homemade and indeed it was lovely! The beer and cider that we ordered were good beverages and all very well! You would have to know that: dishes here are quite small, they are being served in pairs, for everyone to pick from. The location is very modern and stunning: open kitchen, large oven and odd plates. It is quite pricy here, yet the quality of the food makes it worthwhile.

An interesting experience to say the least. We should call it a Belgian Omakase…read more There aren't many places open on a Tuesday and especially after 2pm for those that are open. So at 3pm we found this place to try out. The restaurant itself, inside, is trendy and nice, and there's a covered outdoor patio in front which satisfied our craving to also watch the passing crowd. It's located on the old fish market square next to the Gravenstein Castle. The menu is simple, primarily Italian, which we hadn't expected checking it out online, but that was OK. We decided to try the spaghetti carbonara and the rigitoni arrabiati. Plus, a glass of red wine each. After a reasonable period of time out came our meal- two identical pizzas! Before placing it down the waiter looked as perplexed as we did and took it away. Now mind you there were no more than a half dozen patrons at the time. In reckoning we decided pizza isn't such a bad replacement so ran inside to have them bring the pizzas back. They did, appreciably, and commented jokingly that the chef determines what we are to eat! Omakase! The pizza, a rucola, was excellent. The crust was perfectly made, the sauce and cheese just enough and fresh arugula on top. The wine was equally good. So ended up OK in the end, all around. They even brought us a complimentary digestive afterwards. It's a good place!
