After hiring Mark Bailey to show up to court on his behalf, Mark took our $3500 and said, "no…read moreproblem, enjoy yourselves in Mexico and I will handle this", Fortunately, since the man who tried to attack my husband uttered something about a "twenty year old kicking the ass of a fifty year old" the Crown decided to drop the charges against my husband since it was clear from the person's statements that it was a case of self defense. Unfortunately, since Mark Bailey did not show up for us, my husband was branded a NO SHOW and only found out when he entered the country, from Mexico and was pulled into secondary. We were told by Mark Bailey that it was just a mistake and he would get it taken care of. He lied to us. It happened again, he said it would get done for sure, this time. He confirmed this by email. Mark Bailey did not do his job again and my husband was pulled over and THIS TIME read his rights, had his pockets emptied at the Canada/USA border as he tried to do a land crossing, like we just had in January, no problem. After he was handcuffed and put in a cell he decided he was going to go after this Mark Bailey's license to practice law. This wasn't right that he was in that cell and had to wait and see if he was going to be there until Monday. Nobody in Halifax was interested in him, seeing he had no charged against him and this was just for not showing up to court. So, my husband was released but turned around with the moving truck and is now out not only the $3500 he paid Bailey and Associates, he is now traumatized through his arrest and is afraid of being put in an American jail or ending up in El Salvador because of people like Mark Bailey. What bothers us isn't so much that he obviously forgot to show up to court but the constant lying and then not fixing it so now it ends up as a major lawsuit and the Barristers Society contacted. I am also retired and have a lot of time to write, make comments and complain on every site that I can find about Mark Bailey and how my husband spent two days driving and then had to pay someone to unload our stuff back into storage. The time in the cell, wondering what was going to happen to him and our friend waiting hours in that truck, not knowing if he was driving back to Halifax on his own. We are just regular people and my husband had some young guy try to assault him and he was just defending himself. I want justice for our family. We have been damaged terribly by Mark Bailey.

Service requested was a prenuptial review of an agreement drafted by another lawyer close to home…read more The original agreement was drafted and fully executed with all communications for $1500 by another lawyer. The agreement had very minor adjustments needed as we have no children, and I simply needed it reviewed by independent council. While the document did change from a prenuptial agreement to a marriage The lawyer at Patterson law was professional, and did a good job explaining each step of the process. However, they charged over $3300 to review the same document that other lawyers have stated should have cost between 500-1500$ based on the simplicity of reviewing a basic agreement. I would caution against using Patterson law if you're looking for value, as you can likely find equally competent and professional lawyers for about half of the price else where. Summary: Most importantly, look else where for better value from a lawyer.

Do not hire Patterson Law. A few years ago, my aunt died. The executor hired Patterson law to…read morehandle the legal details. Unfortunately, there was a lot of drama, animosity and distrust amongst our family, including towards the executor. I won't get into the details of that. But, look: I'm sure we're not the first and won't be the last family to have disputes over an estate. Patterson law made several sloppy mistakes in names and dates and, most importantly, insisted that beneficiaries sign a form saying that we received all expected payouts from the estate, before we actually received anything. I wrote to the lawyer. He never responded. His paralegal responded that this is "standard practice". I am sure you can understand that, in a situation where there is already a lot of tension and distrust, this added a lot of fuel to the fire! Note that as executor of an estate, you can hire any lawyers you want. You don't have to stick with the lawyers who helped write the will.

After being referred to this firm by our lawyer, there was a degree of confidence…read more The lawyer, Mr. Moir was happy to take a payment of five hundred dollars for a consultation and creating a letter regarding a property issue. He assured us that there was a solid case and required five thousand dollars to continue with the issue. The issue was not handled by Mr. More, It was passed to an assistant who seemed to know little to nothing about real estate law, The firm decided not to take on the case, since there was nothing that they could do and returned a portion of the money. They even charged for sending a courier with a cheque. I should have walked away when Mr. More said that he was more comfortable suing insurance companies for millions of dollars. I have dealt with many lawyers over the years in the area of property law. I can not profess my disgust for the lawyer and the firm. Will not being doing any further business with them and will seek a firm with a more competent staff and one that doesn't make promises that they can't keep.

The last time they represented me they saved over $10000 on the transaction and charged a reasonable fee to boot. I have used them for Real Estate and personal law and have been delighted with the results on every occasion. Added bonus there is free 2 hour parking in front of the building and there are usually free spots available.
