So basically if there is one country that I'm completely enamored by the food but don't know a whole lot about it, it is Japan. Sure, we have all had sushi and ramen, but I have never really had too much else aside from hibachi style whatnots. I find sushi in Frankfurt not too great, but I have found some decent ramen here. I just never really thought much else about Japanese food here until I went to Konamon. You won't find ramen or sushi on the menu at Konamon. They specialize in okonomiyaki and takoyaki. They also offer some small dishes for appetizers. All is reasonably priced. They also have Kirin on tap. I ordered the pork okonomiyaki which was more or less a bacon like product as well as one order of octopus takoyaki. Both were stellar. I had the spicy miso with the okonomiyaki and their special house sauce with the takoyaki. Another great thing about this place is that I can walk there within 15 minutes and I have a bad feeling this could be dangerous for me in the future. Discovering this gem may be one of my summer highlights. The customer service is fantastic here and prompt. The takoyaki does take about thirty minutes to cook, on the other hand, so be prepared to wait a bit and enjoy a Kirin in the process. I don't have anything to compare this place to as I have never had Japanese food in Japan or even just Japanese food like this. But I left satisfied and feeling like I discovered a place I will go back to quite often, so I am extremely happy.

Plenty of vegetarian options are available, and of course their tasty yogurt sauce. Order by number into the 140s, so surly you'll find 5 or 6 favorites as well. Get both if you dare. The plates come in multiple sizes (mini, XL Jumbo, XXL Jumbo, etc). There's also falafel and salads for you vegetarians out there so no fret! BUT DAYMMMM. We sat down inside at the front of the restaurant, later though, as I watched the waiters, I realised that there was probably more room if you want down a side corridor, towards the back. Also for sunny summer days (which, in case you've not realised, are definitely over ), there is communal seating out the front. So, the menu is pretty simple. Not too many things on it, but that's a good sign, as means they've got focus and if they're cooking the same thing over and over again, they should be experts. My parter ordered the Dorade (sea bream €9), I had the Backfisch (flour-coated fish, deep fried €7), we shared a fish soup (€4) and a Sprite (€1.70). The soup was basically a vegetable soup with bits of fish in it, but it tasted good. Plus it was good as it was cold outside. My partner was well-pleased with his dish, the whole fish was grilled well, had a side salad and fried potatoes. He said he would go there again - this is definitely a rare statement as he is German and his expectations are on another level, somewhere beyond. Now, keep in mind I wasn't expecting too much from my dish, but the fish was fresh and well-cooked, the coating was light and every bite was delicious and crispy! There was also Remoulade - tartar sauce - on the table, as well as salad dressing, salt, pepper AND chilli flakes I know it's just Sprite but it was in a glass bottle, and it is my believe that such drinks taste better when they're stored in glass rather than plastic. I looked around at the other dishes people were ordering and grilled whole fish were definitely popular. Also big families that were there took advantage and ordered platters of things and all seemed full and satisfied. I will definitely go there again and I recommend that you do too, if you want a decent serve of seafood and some sides, at a good price point. If you went anywhere else, you'd probably pay double! Some people might get all snobby and be like "Gallus is dingy, I'm not going to go there..." blah blah blah. But every place in the world has hidden gems. Don't judge a book by its cover!

I asked what I should order and was guided to the Cevapi filled with sausages. At 4 euros, even if I didn't like it (and I had no idea what Cevapi was at this point), who cares? I obliged. I later learned that Cevapi is one of the most traditional dishes in Bosnia. What came out was this massive pita bread filled with 5 minced meat sausages and raw onions. It reminded me of a doner sandwich with a few key differences - the meat here is in tube form, there are no silly vegetables unnecessarily muddling the eating task at hand and the bread is chewy and more oily/buttery than your traditional doner sandwich pita. Very tasty, filling and a steal at 4 euros. If you are on a diet, this isn't the place to go.

The burgers are always perfectly cooked and the fries are amazing. I also just love their dipping sauces - the one with Harissa being my absolute favorite.
