We were greeted when we first walked in, and everyone in the party, even if not throwing had to sign a waiver for safety reasons. Once signed and it paid, we went to the bar to get our lane and some drinks. They have beer and seltzers and hard ciders and water but that was a hit on the alcohol choices. Once Joe went through the training and safety, we were off. They had funs types of games to choose from. Throwing an axe took a bit to get use to and all the coaches, were with other parties. But he came in to give us some pointers. It was fun and none of us got hurt. There are no gender neutral bathrooms and they are only singles. But they had female products available in the women's so that was cool. We saw the they had a private throwing room too. Definitely want to try again and throw some more. It's was axexcellent!

There are water and dirt/sand play spaces, so may want to pack extra clothes for the ride home. There are plenty of paved or gravel paths as well as backcountry trails. Pack a lunch and stay all day! If you're walking the giants path, there is often a snow cone truck parked near Mama Loumari on the weekends. They also offer plenty of family events, so be sure to check the calendar. It is $15 per car to enter or $75 for an annual pass. We find it totally worth the pass as a family who drives from Louisville. Leashed dogs are welcome. Remember to bring your bags to clean up after them :)

Catching up on an overlooked review for the annual Indigenous Peoples Powwow held at Bernheim in…read more2025. The scheduled 2026 Powwow was cancelled due to weather event. Hoping this will still be rescheduled for this year or at the very least that it will return in 2027. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience and being exposed to a special cultural event. Tribes from across the nation were on site. We had several opportunities to interact with various members of the tribes in attendance and questions were welcomed and answered. I believe members as far away as North Dakota had traveled here to participate. The beading and decorative embroidery on the clothing was explained. These are NOT costumes, which is terminology that is considered an insult. It was explained regarding the difference in that these are their clothes and not some sort of dress up play acting session. The drumming and dancing was also explained. We were also able to try fry bread and several other food items, which was an epic experience to have at least a hinting glimpse into another culture. Looking forward to attending future powwows.

I've gone there twice and BOTH times the lanes were continually breaking down - ALL AROUND us they were freezing, and pins were FALLING down between sets. Not to mention the numerous incomplete setups - ya pins MISSING when it resets so your game is fked from the start. THANKS!! I go to bowling alleys to bowl not get credits for screwed up lanes. Gotta pay for the game at the START not when you are done, so when you decide to play a bit more you have to STOP everything you are doing and go tell them you wish to continue playing - wtf. But let's not forget how fking SLOW IT IS AT THE DESK, so that takes FOREVER. Also, you can only buy ONE beer at a time so I had to have my wife go up and get her own. One at a time the guy said, I said it was for my wife, he said so - He almost bought it for that. This place needs a complete makeover, with new staff and a grown up alcohol policy. There was a total of 5 of us playing. We each got our own bags and you can choose your color and print that available after you check in and pay. It's the same as cornhole rules but the board are step like a mini golf hole. We were doing pretty well some holes were harder than others the only thing there was only 12 holes and we were smushed together to stay by our group and hole we were playing. A couple behind us sped through and we were all in each other way. Some holes overlap with another so, you might get hit by a bag since it's next to the platform you throw at. Definitely needs to be spaced out more or let some groups wait a few minutes so they don't over lap or get in the way of another group. The kids had fun though!
