The colorful flowers adorning the window out front made an elegant entrance, and the design continued throughout with classic furnishings inside. Unique items kept catching my eye as I perused the store, but one item in particular begged for my attention: a little black and white dog figurine sitting in front of the window. His name is "Bergere," after the chair, and he has become a beloved mascot in the store. Alison has been in the design business for most of her life. In fact, growing up in her parents' store in Pennsylvania, McIndoe's, is where her passion for design began. With a degree in Interior Design and lots of experience working in the design and building industry, Alison opened AK Interiors in 1996, working from her home. At the time, she was a single mom and it allowed her to be easily available. A little more than a year ago, she decided it was time to venture out and open a boutique home furnishings shoppe in Lancaster. The Shoppe at AK Interiors is staffed by owner Alison and three other employees. The 1,100-square-foot space includes offices for the design team and a room for meeting clients. AK Interiors works with all different types of customers: residential, commercial and renovations. One service that AK Interiors offers is "Room in a Day." Basically, they use clients' existing furnishings and accessories, sometimes borrowing from other rooms, and then Alison and staff design their clients' space. While I was looking around The Shoppe, I noticed there was long hallway filled with artwork; I was intrigued so I asked about it. It turns out that The Shoppe participates in Lancaster's First Fridays where they feature local artists' works, music, drinks and nibbles. The Shoppe at AK Interiors is a great place to get ideas, purchase items for gifts, and furnish your home or business. As for Bergere the dog, if anyone is interested, he is for sale.

I cannot say enough about the beautiful job Adair did with our new new house when we recently…read more moved to Lititz. Adair was able to help me visualize the floor plan for our home and quickly "got" my taste. She was able to gently guide me with awsome choices in furniture, color, lighting, area rugs and home upgrades with beautiful molding and fireplace makeover. I have used several designers throughout the years and have been satisfied with their results.....but, Adair is simply heads and tails above others. I wanted our home to be a "refuge from the storm", a safe space to be in. This is the exact feeling that I and others mention when they come into our home. She can help you create the space you want based on your interest or hobby. It will be a one of a kind design and abosolutely breathtaking!! Marilyn Kreider Lititz, Pa

Ambiance by Adair recently helped me to redesign and remodel my den into a sophisticated "bourbon…read morelounge". The renovation entailed a new ceiling; all new painting, carpeting, lighting, & wallpaper; the addition of custom cabinets, bar, and counters; new furniture; and new decor--among other items. I truly couldn't be happier with the outcome and experience from top to bottom. From the very start, Adair's meticulous attention to detail and project planning ensured that I had a crystal clear vision of the entire renovation and all associated expenses. Her remodeling choices not only grasped my needs & tastes but also identified a host of innovative approaches to transforming what was originally a narrow and uninviting room into what has easily become my favorite room in the house. Every time I walk into my new bourbon lounge I feel like I'm stepping into a boutique hotel bar, and my friends and family are consistently blown away by the space. When it comes to remaking and styling home spaces, Adair's creativity, attention to detail, and impeccable tastes are bar none. Every element in my new lounge--from the recessed and ambient pendant lighting, to the rich color palette, to the custom shelving and curated decor--was thoughtfully chosen and perfectly executed. I have extensively renovated virtually every room in my 1920s farmhouse at this point and I can honestly say that Adair's work is the highest quality in the area. In addition to Adair's exceptional design work and planning, she was also an absolute delight to work with. She was professional, personable, responsive, and incredibly organized. She managed the project seamlessly, coordinating contractors, sourcing unique pieces, and keeping everything on schedule and within budget. And she repeatedly anticipated and addressed issues (that I would have never even had thought of!) well before they arose. If you're looking for a designer who combines unparalleled creative vision with top-notch project management and client care, I highly recommend Ambiance by Adair. In fact, I'm already working with her on the next space in my house to transform! Ben Bagozzi, Lancaster PA
