Ben even handled some issues with the manufacturer of the railing (they hadn't shipped all of the parts, so Ben came back a couple days later, on a Saturday, to install the last piece). He estimated three days, finished in two (plus 15 minutes on Saturday). We'd gotten a quote from a general contractor to do the railing as part of a larger job, and they wanted almost as much just to demo the old railing as Ben asked for the entire job.

THEN, we had two more sessions, one with a pressure washer, which he used very well to clean old debris from the surfaces, and then with another long session, coated in a very meticulous way all the parts with an oil-base stain. It looks brand new, and feels much stronger on the rails, steps and so forth. In addition to the deck, he gave the same treatment to a set of wood stairs (replacing one step), that goes down for the deck level to the creek behind the house. Their pricing was in line or better than other estimates we received. We only had them paint the walls (since I was waiting to paint the trim during a later project). I don't know what/if they offer in the way of helping you pick paint since we already had the paint (we'd been painting other walls already and had purchased plenty of paint), but they did let us know how many gallons they'd likely need to be sure that we had enough on hand. Excellent explanation of the process and the time it would take. They communicated well and let us know when another (outdoor) job had run a few days behind and we were able to schedule a good date for us both. I work at home and they respected the need to keep noise down - they were so quiet! The preparation to protect the area where they worked was thorough and the paint job was excellent. The clean up was superb - except for well-painted walls, you wouldn't have known we had anyone there that day! They had let me know if I wanted them to work a longer day that they could have it done in one day and they delivered!
