This was my first and last visit to this Dentist office. Beware! They advertised for $59.99 for an exam, x-rays and cleaning. I receive the exam and x-rays, after they took 10 x-rays I told them no more x-rays, however, the wanted to take four more. After the exam and x-rays the Dentist asked me if I have had any surgeries within the last three years, I said yes, I had a surgery two and a half years ago. The dentist then told me she could not clean my teeth until I had a signed release from my Doctor. Which I questioned why do you need a Dr. release to simply clean my teeth. The Dentist told me I would have to make a second appointment and come back with the Dr. release. She then told me to go to the receptionist and pay for the exam and x-rays. The receptionist told me I owed $45 for today's service. When I asked how much I would be charged for my next cleaning appointment she said the fee would be an additional $55, I asked why $55 when your sign advertised $59.99 for everything. I told her I will pay $30 for the exam and x-rays today and pay the remaining $29.99 when I return for the cleaning. In other words they wanted to charge me $100 not the $59.99 as advertized see the attached photo. Today I received a letter from a Ms. White, the Dentist Office Manager stating that "Based upon recent events and your behavior towards our practice, we are dismissing you as our patient from our practice." Really? No problem I will never grace your practice with my presence and will advise everyone to be aware of how they treat new patients and try to rip people off with their false advertisements. Normally I don't write bad reviews for any company, only good reviews for good ones. But I have to write one today, because this is a nightmare. 3 years ago I got my dental bridge done from Simply Dental which costed over $2000. The dentist shown me how much my insurance would pay and how much I would pay out of pocket. The work was done and all balances were paid. The dentist told me I also had a cavity at that time. So I asked the girl working at the front office to call me to give me a price quote because my insurance benefits were maxed out and I really wanted to get it done. Nobody called, and I called many times and left many messages, still nobody called back. After 6 months I had enough and switched dentist. 2 years later, they sent me a bill for $361. I was shocked because I didn't go back there for over 2 years. So I called many times and left many messages to find out what the $361 charge for, nobody got back to me again and they also blocked my number. Recently they had a collection agency sent me the bill again. So I went to Simply Dental and waited 45 minutes, they told me the charge was from the bridge work done 3 years ago. I was shocked! All balance was paid 3 years ago right after the dental work. Are they over charging me or are they mad because they made sales calls to me asking me going back? It's horrible! She also had no knowledge how to properly knumb the area she without my permission tryed training a new dentist on me. I can't get into the Ortho for a whole month. The type of care on my first visit was deplorable. X-rays were taken, and it was decided I needed dentures by Dr. Patel. Fine. However, I also asked about implants. Patel got angry, in my face, practically yelling at me about the cost. I think she assumed I wouldn't get the dentures. She told me the work would be done by "someone else" and left the room. Some time later, the receptionist at Simply Dental (Kathy) called me to give me a referral at the UIC Dental School. I told her that nobody else had given me any help since my initial visit. She became aggressive and loud with me, assuming I meant her not helping me as well. I called back later, again asking for the referral information. I never received a return call. Simply Dental contacted me to schedule a new appointment well after the first one. X-rays were taken, and it was determined I couldn't have dentures because my upper right quadrant jaw in the back was decaying/deteriorating. The doctor referred me to UIC Dental School in Chicago. My Medicare and Medicaid do not cover dental specialists. It's out of pocket and way out of my reach. Almost all of my teeth are cracked to the gums now. Simply Dental has tried to contact me by voice-mail, text, and email at least half a dozen times to schedule teeth cleaning appointments. I've blocked their main number, so they call me from another of their extensions. I've either refused the calls or returned them telling the receptionist I was told that they can't and wouldn't help me. They have my chart already. Read the damn thing! It's not for me to tell them how to do their job. I received one more voice-mail from Simply Dental, and I left them one this morning, which I doubt they won't forget anytime soon. This whole problem has gone on for two to three years, and I've way more than had it. Patel could have done the work. I believe it is on Simply Dental to fix it entirely. An oral surgeon (or whoever else) included, and at no cost to me, and definitely not with Patel. The chair for the cleaning was already booked for a different appointment. I was charged $40 for x-rays and an exam. I was told that I was ineligible for the cleaning. If you receive the coupon in the mail expect to pay $40 for an exam, x-rays and a quote for additional services that they offer. read more

I came in to have a cavity filled. They hand me paperwork showing what they estimate the insure will pay and what I may possibly owe. Again call over the paperwork it said "Estimated Amount." STAY AWAY! My daughters have been regular patients at Simply Dental for the past several years, coming twice a year for cleanings. However, after an incident that took place there today, we will never return. My 10 year old was taken to the back for her routine cleaning and exam just after 1230pm. I stayed up front with my 2 other children while waiting for the next child's appointment. About 5 minutes after 1pm, my other child was called back and taken for X-rays. I decided at this point, with only one small child in tow, I would take a peek at my oldest since at least 30 minutes had passed and I had not been approached by the dentist or hygienist advising the findings of exam - which is unusual as we are usually in and out within 40 minutes for both. As I peeked into the first room, I saw my daughter in the chair and took a step in. What I witnessed was the girl performing her service looking over at her phone that was laying on the tray next to the open, sterilized tools that would soon be placed in my daughters mouth. My thoughts were 1)that's unsanitary and 2) perhaps she had a timer or something going for whatever reason. I proceeded to take another step in behind the girl, which at this point she still hadn't noticed me. What I witnessed then completely caught me off guard. This girl was watching a show or movie on her cell phone while at the same time, had tools and a suction in my daughters mouth! I stood there for a moment thinking am I really seeing this right now? My daughter caught a glimpse of me and then the girl noticed I was there. I proceeded to the front desk to inquire who that was working on my daughter and was told it was the assistant. I let the front desk know what I had just seen and she immediately went to the room and told the assistant to put her phone away. She had turned her phone off at this point and put that same hand back in my daughters mouth but kept the phone on the tray. I asked for another assistant or hygienist to rinse out her mouth and stop service. The assistant then jumped up, said sorry and ran to the back. I immediately went to get my other daughter and thankfully they had not started on her yet. I asked to speak with the dentist and was told they were busy so I settled with getting the name of the manager and was told to call after 2 or 230pm. I was able to speak to the manager after she returned my call, however, it seemed as though she was more concerned with telling me how she showed up in stilettos and now had to change into gym shoes and put her hair up because she had to take the place of said assistant. Not only was this visit unprofessional, unsanitary and negligent, there are several items that violate the Illinois Dental Practice Act which will be filed in a formal complaint with the IDFPR. read more

Explained everything to me correctly, and was just a very NICE person, Sofia in the back was AWESOME and did my polishing and X-rays and we had great conversation, LOL but yes we did talk she is a very nice person as well, and then I meet Dr. Wang who was so gentle and kind and did my exam and cleaning it was a GREAT experience, and I am going back and so will my friend as well. This place was not so great. Could've been worse but I was not impressed. I went here the other day because I just moved and needed a cleaning as my wedding is in a few weeks. My regular dentist does not accept any insurance and is rather expensive. My mom used to pay for me before I started working my big girl job and she'd pay the big bucks so I'd have good teeth. But because of paying for my wedding I'm broke. So I needed to find a new dentist for now. Making an appointment was simple enough. Quick and easy. Awesome. And this place is literally a minute drive from where I live. Another great bonus. So I go in give my name and wait. Had to wait for 30 minutes in the tiny waiting room but whatever sometimes there's emergencies and they run behind. Not the biggest deal. So now for my appointment. I had a young guy dental assistant let me know since it was my first appointment with then they needed x rays. I really didn't want to because I had just had them at my last appointment but this was a new place so I said fine. Now at the dentists I've been to before, they normally put a thing in your mouth on the one side snap a pic do it on the other and boom. Two x rays. Well not here. I had probably 20 different snapshots taken of my mouth but the worst part is the little device they're sticking in my mouth was way too big. So he's taken several X-rays and they're not coming out right and he's like "you need to bite down what's the problem" and I'm like "it doesn't fit in my mouth" so he gets a smaller one and then were good but I don't know how he didn't notice it wasn't fitting but whatever. So now that's finally done and the dentist comes in. All I need is a cleaning done so she starts using the water pic everything's fine and dandy but the dental assistant is sticking two suction tubes in my mouth for whatever reason. I have never had two people working on my mouth for a cleaning and normally I just have the smaller tube hanging off the one side of my mouth and it works just fine. Well he's shoving this thing pretty far back in my mouth to the point where I know I'm going to gag and I finally do. The dentist was like "oh what's wrong" and I'm like "uhh I'm choking in the tube" so he moves it up and were one but then when we move to a different part of my mouth he ends up literally ramming it into my gums and it hurt. It's a hard plastic tube. Well before this happened the dentist was practically talking down to me like I have no idea how to take care of my teeth. It's like I had braces and got them off early for doing everything correctly. I've never had a cavity before. My teeth look nice. I know what I'm doing. So when I flinch in pain from the tube she's like "oh are you sensitive" and now I'm getting more annoyed and I say "no I just got jabbed with the suction tube again." Ugh. So now were done with that and now it's time for the polishing. This was literally over in 60 seconds. I couldn't believe it. I have never had a polish done that fast. I didn't feel like it was done very well. And she didn't even floss me. I know we did the water pic but I always am flossed afterwards too. I flossed my teeth myself when I got home and then I finally felt like they were clean. I just didn't feel like the dentist really cared and I didn't feel like the assistant was paying too much attention to what was going on. I wasn't too impressed with this place and I most likely would not go back. I honestly rather shell out the money to see my regular dentist. He's expensive but very very good. I don't know if I'm just a dentist snob now or what but I just left feeling very unimpressed and I did not feel like my teeth were as clean as they should've been. read more

I waited probably like 30 minutes.. So here he goes he just grab my tooth an starts pulling left to right omg I felt I was dying:( so he kept going finally it was out I was so much in pain.. I never felt like this ever.. I Been to a different Dentis that pulled out my wisdom tooth I was fine when I was out.. An here simply dental nope I cried so bad I was in so much pain, all day & night. Today is July 18, 2015 6:39pm still in pain.. Don't come here to take out any of your teeth this isn't a place.. Two years ago Dr. Gary Mackey made up for the fact that the office was a bit unkept with brainless hygienists. He was a great dentist!!! He did the cleaning himself and fixed every tiny little cosmetic imperfections I thought only I noticed! Then last year I went to the office in which a male Asian doctor started jabbing and scraping incessantly away at my poor mouth. I actually stopped him from working and asked him who he was (as he never introduced himself) and he announced he was my new dentist and that Mackey only did orthodontics now. I was so mad they made this change and didn't even tell me! The replacement was not gentle or kind--I've never had a cavity... No reason to go home with a sore mouth. read more

If I could give this place -50 I would. Never had a cavity in my life. Not only did this dentist determine I had a cavity, but drilled early before the painkillers set in. When I told him to stop because it was hurting, he began complaining about how I was the only patient he had ever had that complained about something like this. To make matters worse he left filament in my teeth so flossing the back molars is now very difficult. I believe this was intentional so that I would have to come back to get it repaired. I genuinely believe he was trying to milk the insurance company for money by diagnosing me inappropriately. This happened over a year ago, but every time I think of the dentist I remember the horrific experience I had here and get angry. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

This place sucks! I thought it was a great dentist. Until i had a root canal done there. They said they will call when they got the cap for the tooth in. They never called. When i called they said they didnt have it on record that they even did a root canal! That was the last time i went there. I went to another dentist and told them what happened. He took a xray and said that they did the root canal wrong and that they went to far up. The dentist told me that it will start causing me pain bc they did it wrong and if i dont get a cap my tooth can break or turn black. Not to mention its my front tooth. This place sucks. I've been taking my children here twice a year for cleanings over the past several years as they accept the not so great insurance that I have. In January 2015 I was told that my daughter has three cavities and I need to bring her in for fillings, ok, we did that. Fast forward to December 2016., I take my kids in for their cleaning and as I'm checking out at the desk the hygienist, not the dentist, comes out and tell me that she has to come back for 6 fillings, 3 of which were the ones done less than 2 years ago, she said they don't last long and need to be redone. That set off a red flag. I called them and requested her dental records as well as her latest X-rays (which they do EVERY cleaning, should only be done once every year or two) and I found another dentist to take her to for a second opinion. Guess what???? No cavities and the previous 3 that were done were completely intact!!! She needed no dental work at all! As a mother I'm appalled that a business would recommend such excessive work on a child to make a buck!! I've also seen ownership changed 3 times that I'm aware of over the past couple of years! I wish I could give this place 0 stars but I can't. I started going here about a year ago and loved it, the dentist was an older man and was great, knowledgable, and filled my cavity so quickly and painlessly. He must have retired and sold his practice because he is no longer there and I honestly questioned whether or not the new dentists even had degrees. The dentist I saw is one if either 2 or 3 dentists that now work the practice, and he was awful. The assistant had absolutely no idea what he was doing, he kept shoving the suction tubes (yes two of them, I don't know why) into my throat and making me gag and choke. The dentist seemed to be getting irritated that I kept choking, like it was my fault? It took him over 2 and a half hours to fill ONE cavity. He drilled, then left for about 20 minutes, not informing me where he was going or how long he would be gone, and then came back to fill the cavity. He also left the piece that keeps your mouth open in my mouth that entire time he was gone! I complained 2 or 3 times saying that it had been over 2 hours and that I had places to go, but it didn't seem to speed anyone up. The dentist just seemed to have no idea what was going on, he kept checking things and going back and redoing them, and the assistant kept asking whether or not he should do certain things, really making me feel uneasy about what was going on. Not to mention my jaw was cramping and my neck was in so much pain after being in the chair with my mouth open lying back for so long. I will definitely not be returning here. read more

This place is so unprofessional and don't actually know what they are doing. One star is being generous. I went there last week because I developed a bump on the back of my gums and the first appointment was fine, the doctor was nice but he said to come back in a week to see if it was gone because he didn't want to remove it if he didn't have to. So after the week has passed my gums have only gotten worse and I was in pain. I went in thinking I would get the same doctor and didn't, these people knew nothing of me I explained to them what was going on and then they just decided to remove it themselves not knowing or telling me what was wrong. While during the whole thing leaving me numbed up in a room & didn't even know what was happening when they were taking needles & scalpels to my mouth once out of the dentist from hell I went to pick up my prescription & obviously they did not look at my chart to check if I was allergic to penicillin because they prescribed me just that. Everything in my mouth was okay until the next morning when I was in serve pain I drove straight to them and told them I needed something more than tylenol that it wasn't working and they told me they couldn't do that because they doctor that did to procedure wasn't there HELLO YOU HAVE A TELEPHONE CALL HER after I walked out still in pain & mad as hell you can pretty much guarantee I will NEVER go back read more
