It was my birthday and I booked for a Decadence for the feet pedicure and every staff member that I crossed paths with wished me a happy birthday, I felt like an old friend, not just a new client. The visit started by changing into a robe and slippers, now I am a fluffy guy robe's usually don't fit, but that wasn't the case here, the robe fitted perfectly. Then I was taken to a relaxation room where I got to chill and relax even before the treatment started. Being my birthday there were three of us getting pedi's, and despite the chatter between us when it came to the hot stone massage we all fell silent and drifted to an almost comatose state of bliss. I have to say having pedicures are the ultimate luxury experience for me and I've been around awhile and had a few over my time and I can say that I have never had a more luxurious pedicure in my life!! Just when I thought it couldn't get better because it was my birthday we were given a glass of champagne and chocolates. This place offers the wow factor on so many levels. If you are visiting the hotel or just want to indulge in someone for a special occasion I would highly recommend them, I know I am taking my mum in for another double pedicure session for mothers day this year!

If I just could have managed to keep my head up. It started out as usual - a locker room visit, a silky robe, and short wait in the lounge before I was led to my treatment room. From there it was 2.5 hours of bliss, all in one room, all with one therapist. This was definitely more of a relaxation massage, and though I mentioned it a few times, it was a little light for my liking... but at that point I was too relaxed to let it bother me. It certainly wasn't a cheap pampering session, but if you're looking to spoil someone rotten, this is definitely your place. Hydrated and velvety doesn't even begin to describe how my body felt afterward and after a beautiful tea in the lounge to round off the experience, I was ready to take over the world (perhaps right after a long nap).

I had it before with other clinics, this time I chose B because they were cheap and I thought for an easy treatment like facial slimming, it was not that important to find an experienced practitioner and a reputable clinic---turns out reaaaaally important! When my practitioner performed the injection, it really hurt and my face bruised for the following two weeks, compared to the fact that I barely felt the pain with experienced doctors. Secondly, my face became asymmetrical as the injection( dysport)gradually took effects. While my practitioner promised me before the procedure that he would take any remedy for free if the outcome was not satisfying, he just sit back and escaped the responsibility by saying that " no one's face is symmetric". Anyway, this has been the worst facial slimmining procedure I have ever had, totally different from the previous ones. It made me look old and the jawline was still obvious--and when I showed the practitioner my picture of the outcome from a previous procedure, he said you would have to wait. Now it has been fours months. I just look different -----in a bad way----the injection was neither done in the right place nor at an appropriate amount. I just feel lucky that the effects will eventually go away in a few months and I will definitely go with a legitimate practitioner if I want to do it next time.

I'm promptly greeted by two friendly faces and upon mentioning that for the moment "'I'm just looking.", I am left to my own devices to wander through the store. I notice a sign on the counters saying they can match you to your "perfect foundation" in 10 minutes. Challenge Accepted. Even though I'm here looking at skincare (the sudden change of season means my skin is protesting severely and I'm ready to meet its demands). Lauren, my sales assistant for the visit, sits me down and begins to prep my skin. The products she uses (REN and Darphin for those playing at home) let my skin breathe a hydrated sigh of relief. I make a mental note to follow up these products later. She then asks me a few questions about my preferences in a foundation and my daily tasks. We settle upon trying the new NARS tinted moisturiser. She primes me by saying that I'll be surprised how much coverage this baby gives. After application I'm flawed. She was right. This tinted moisturiser packs a little more punch than the average tinted moisturiser and I think their signage was right. They can match you to your perfect foundation in 10 minutes. Mecca Cosmetica is home to one of Australia's best ranges of skincare and cosmetics. The prices are a little high when you compare them to international prices but come on ladies, we're used to that by now. Plus for the extra advice and insight you gain from their staff it is more than worth it. This store is slightly smaller than their Queen Street store, however, that's ok with me. The staff were helpful, knowledgeable and if you're looking for a special occasion makeup I'd suggest popping in and saying hello to Mecca Cosmetica.

James Street is an absolute mess at the moment. There is construction happening everywhere you…read moreturn, so it was a miracle I found Mecca Cosmetica hidden amongst the rubble. The new Fortitude Valley store is much smaller than it's store in the city, but it gives it a more intimate and less intimidating feel. It has pretty much anything in the way of cosmetics that a girl (or boy, if you're into that sort of thing) may need. With brands that are often difficult to find such as By Terry, Nars and Kevyn Aucoin, it's nice to know that Mecca usually have all of their products in stock. To date, it is the only place in Australia I have been able to find the Nars multiple in Maldives (that is a BIG secret I've just shared with you people!). The staff were a little caught up when I was there and I wasn't really attended to, but it was nice to just stroll around the store at my own pace. If you are in need of a new skin care regime, a new palette for your face, or even a new fragrance, Mecca Cosmetica should be on your "to go to" list. The only downside is that if they have a product they're not selling much of they often discontinue it, which is sad when you were that one person buying it! Nevertheless, it's a great store to pop in and feel immediately girly.

On my first session, Due to limited parking on Vernon terrace or surrounding streets I was 6 mins late, so upon arrival instead of being welcomed I was told by the therapist that next time they would have to take the time off my session as she has back to back appointments today. During my massage she kept talking and asking me where I was from because I didn't look Australian and had different skin and features. Then she asked me really irrelevant questions such as how long I have travelled to get there. On my 2nd session the owner was at reception and I was 5 minutes late again due to the parking issue. As I entered she asked me if I had been vaccinated for Covid and if not why not. Then she said that her staff had been vaccinated and that soon she is going to introduce a policy at her day spa to reject people entry who have not been vaccinated. I said vaccinations aren't mandatory yet by the government so she should stop asking intrusive questions. Then she told me to fill out a form with 4 really intrusive questions about vaccinations: have you been vaccinated? Are you on a waiting list for a vaccination? Which one, Pfizer or AstraZeneca? Something along those lines. She then said, you're late again and this time we will have to take the time off your massage but instead of taking me straight in she put me in a room to have tea for 10 mins taking another 10 mins off my massage. She said sorry but my staff has back to back appointments again. The whole time I was there I only saw this one staff she had booked up back to back 2 weeks in a row. I didn't turn up for my 3rd session as I felt super anxious going there because I didn't know what to expect this time. Halfway through this treatment I started coughing with a tickle in my throat because my sinuses were playing up which usually happens due to cheap essential oils in some cosmetic products. So the therapist left me for about 10 minutes and entered with a mask (which I realised she wasn't wearing the whole hour prior to my cough). Vaccines don't exclude you from wearing a mask, she should have been wearing one to begin with so that was another 10 mins taken off my session. Sadly I found this experience far from relaxing and pampering. The whole time I was there I felt resentful, tense and ripped off. In addition, the sheets and towel felt oily and unhygienic and the products used in my treatment were cheap. Absolute Waste of money. Apologies to my husband who had spent a while researching the best gift to get me for Mother's Day. This place is bringing down the vibes in a classy end of town. Spend your money on another day spa if you're looking to get pampered in a relaxing environment and not be judged.

Booked in for a full body scrub, wrap, mini facial followed by a rain shower and came out feeling like a new woman. Now I know you can get these services in a lot of places, but lots of places give them to you in rooms that are basically the size of tall coffins and hardly relaxing. My treatment room at Sakura on the other hand was actually two rooms and bigger than some hotel rooms I've stayed in (with two other people I might add). To say I was transported and then transformed probably sums it up. And the whole thing was made even better by the caring nature of the lady who looked after me. Can't wait to come back.
