I love Silver Swan! they offer some middle eastern goodies like dolmas, hummus and baba ghanoush, which you can get separated nicely with pita bread to go, or have altogether in a wrap. I've had both, depends on my mood. They also have some German food, which is rare to find up in this area, as well as lebkuchen cookies around the Christmas holidays. I am not a big fan of ham, but they have a pineapple and ham sandwich, grilled, that is to die for. The dessert case has homemade lemon bars, cream puffs, rice pudding and other homemade yummies. The decor is unique, with small gifts, cards and European treats for sale as well. My husband had them cater my 40th birthday party a few years ago and the food was excellent then as well. read more

This is an often overlooked place, set on the side of M22 a little past Tom's grocery store. It's mostly a lunch place, but they do catering as well. They have the best reuben in town (also the messiest). A great vegetarian menu and also a daily special of more homemade-type meals like meatloaf or stroganoff. The tomato bisque soup is really good as well. Everything is made from scratch. Oh, and usually I'm too full, but the desserts are rockin- like a giant cream puff the size of a softball. I used to come here all the time for work and I loved it. It's not set in the best location and I think it shares its parking lot with a carpet store or something. But the food is worth it and its cute inside, with some really cool artwork (weird joker clowns). I always forget about this place in town since it doesn't feel like a destination, but when you think about going to Scott's for the view, you should think twice and head to the Silver Swan for the food. read more

Silver Swan catered a beach lunch I had last week for 60 people. Petra and the Silver Swan staff did a wonderful job. They delivered 60 sandwich lunch bags from Traverse City to lake Michigan on time, and when people started eating, I can't tell you how many people said to me "these sandwiches are amazing, where did you get these, how did you find this place". I had dinner here tonight and it was very tasty. Mmm, falafel. Not a highly spiced falafel, but the hummus was delicious so that more than made up for it. This place also has a very nice pastry & dessert case, tried the lemon bar & wanted to try the pistachio baklava. My dad liked the chicken something or other and my mom loved the schnitzel (she's a schnitzel snob too). Reasonably priced and good food, cannot complain about that. The waitress told us that they are pretty busy at lunch (near to a lot of businesses in Grelickville & super-close to T.C.), but dinners can vary. I might say visit at dinner, but then maybe there might not be as much variety in the dessert case, god forbid. *They sell gifts too, plenty of swan iconography (go figure). read more

Amazing hospitality! We found this restaurant searching Yelp. It is a gem! Portion sizes are large. Pasta salad was unusual and a pleasant surprise, big on flavor and spice. Our children enjoyed their TLT- Turkey, lettuce and tomato sandwich. My husband devoured his Reuben and I enjoyed my Mediterranean wrap (can't remember the name.). We come to TC all the time; have for over 30 years. Today was my first time at The Swan: our routine is usually to hike out in the park all day and only return to town for dinner. LOVED LOVED LOVED this place. The only reason it is not better known is that its hours are somewhat limited and its a mile or two out of the downtown tourist district. The food is awesome: all homemade. Nothing heated up from GFS here! The variety of the menu, both the specials and the everyday features is amazing. There are sandwiches, salads, and full on meals with a meat, a starch and a veg. Place has a homey, non-hipster vibe. Dining room is cheery and immaculately clean. Order at the counter but they deliver your food on real plates. . Everything was garnished and plated with great care. Here's an example of what I mean: the three women, sisters, who own it brought beautiful tomatoes back from their Florida vacation to serve in their restaurant here in northern Michigan in April, when all the other tomatoes are pink and hard and sad. Who does that? Who takes that much pride in what they serve? Little things like that real make all the difference between an operation that grinds it out per a manual and one that cooks with love. read more

One really can't go wrong with any of their yummy sandwiches (especially the Reuben and the Cloe grilled cheese). I stopped into the Silver Swan Restaurant to get their catering menu for our daughter's wedding on Aug. 3, 2018 in Traverse City. I gave them the date and they informed me they work directly with the client to create a menu. I made an appointment with the catering person for 3:00 pm the next day. I arrived at 2:50 and was told she was tied up in traffic purchasing a new refrigerator for the restaurant. At 3:30 pm another lady told me she works with the head caterer. We talked for 45 min. planning the appetizer reception, food for the wedding, china, clean up, and server. She informed me she did not do the pricing, however they would send estimate to me my next week. We set up a tasting for my daughter for June 19, 2018. I received a call two days later informing me the date of August 3, 2018 was not available. I am so mad I wasted so much time working with these folks. Having eaten dozens of meals there, the food is the best in TC and MICHIGAN. I have eaten all the foods on the menu, even the desserts. They are tops for fixing home made food.
