He knew the staff so perhaps we got some extra attention because of that. I am not complaining though. The drinks and food were excellent! The chill tempura was great. The highlight was the steak. Hearty, tasty and 100% delicious. They bring out the steak so you can see it before they cook it. They then sear it and bring it out along with a grill so you can cook it as long as you want. The grill had beef fat on it to add to the goodness. I barely put it on the grill because I wanted some rare meat. I had a local dessert which was tasty and I don't think they needed to clean the plate after since I took care of it! Another thoroughly memorable meal!

El único camarero que estaba dentro nos vió y no hizo ni una intención de atendernos. Tuvimos que ir adentro donde nos dijo que no tenían servicio de terraza. Lo curioso es que, a la vez, el mismo camarero les sacó cafés a otras dos señoras que se acababan de sentar en la terraza. El camarero todavía nos hizo entrar a por las bebidas. No volveremos.

The place is clean and modern looking with a beautiful chalkboard and a friendly waiter who was happy to accommodate our late-night drunken and broken Spanish. We had delicious and piping hot croquettes with a creamy interior spiked with salty ham. Their anchovies were standard but really delicious. Finally, at the bartender's recommendation, we had some Morcilla (blood sausage) with a lovely creamy puree. There is so much amazing food in Bilbao, it's sometimes hard to choose where to go to get your fix. In this case, Ad Hoc's unusually extended hours made the decision for us and i'm really happy they did!!

He then proceeded to angrily curse and flip me off. I didn't know he was the owner of the bar until later that day I went to the bar to use Wi-Fi and saw him again. There is a much better place nearby called Fangaloka Style. And I'm sure the owners aren't running around flipping off tourists. Lol!
