As long as as it was place in my face, the pinxto was in my mouth. That said, everything thing I ate was absolutely delicious. For the concept of the restaurant, I was a bit surprised that the inside and outdoor areas were pretty empty. However, that could have been due to our late afternoon arrival to the restaurant. I do not recall seeing too many folks out and about in general. However (part two), the lack of folks worked out well for our party of seven. Hopefully, I can make another trip to El Huevo Frito during another visit to Bilboa.

It wasnt overly crowded (like other bars we passed) but the lady said they were closing in 10 minutes. Fortunately we met an American. She was visiting her friend, who lives here. They were a huge help! We ordered a few pinxtos and the lady offered to heat them up and we ate at the bar. We got 2 beers too, which we learned we could take to go. Open containers allowed, while walking around the city! And tipping is not expected. The pinxtos were ok.... but I imagine they would taste better fresh versus when we ate them, just before they closed. This pinxto bar is known for putting fried quail eggs on their pinxtos. We had a croquette, one with fried cheese and two with ham on them. They were all tasty and made my hanger go away. One of the 2 women behind the bar spoke English. We had no issues ordering (u can also order them to go). Would come back and try their food and drinks again, for sure! The bars/restaurants are small (compared to American standards)... so be prepared to squeeze and be intimate with others at the bar, when ordering. This was our first eating experience in Bilbao. Looking forward to exploring more tomorrow! This is my fiancee. He looks like he could be from here, so people come up to him and start talking Spanish..... but then they are surprised when he opens up his mouth and hears his very American and West Virginian accent.

We had finally made it to El Globo though and were looking for just a small additional bite and drink. Ended up heading to Zintzoa, grabbing some food and eating on a nearby bench as all the other room was totally filled. The pulpo de Gallegos was tasty - far better than the other versions of it I had tried elsewhere. The little bocadilla with dark olive bread was fine on the filling and amazing on the bread. Got some other random pinxtos I didn't recognize that were solid enough. Drinks were wine and a gin and tonic. Both tasty and reasonably large. Overall price was nice and cheap, about 15€ for four pinxtos and drinks. The whole place was active and enjoyably busy the whole time...definitely would return.
