Every vacation we take, there is always a hotel that stands out during our trip…read more This hotel was beautiful! The rooms were spacious and elegant! This hotel reminded me of something like the Marriott World Center, or a convention hotel. It was beautiful! They also had an Excellent buffet selection for brunch. I remember doing this for one of our day trips. It's also in walking distance of the old Helsinki Olympia park, which was amazing to visit. I definitely recommend this hotel. For those looking for an upscale stay in the area.

I have to admit I didn't personally choose this hotel for our local accommodations in Helsinki. Two…read morenights at the Scandic Park came as part of a Baltic Sea cruise/hotel package I reserved for me and Jamie W., so when I looked for it on a Helsinki city map, I let out an audible sigh presuming it would be a bit too far from the city center. However, once we arrived, the hotel turned out to located conveniently on Mannerheimintie, a major boulevard where Helsinki's public tram system operates one of their main lines efficiently late into the night. It turned out to be just three stops away from the central train station hub where all the shopping and restaurants were concentrated. Looking recently renovated, the hotel itself was quite comfortable and looked like it was mostly targeted to business travelers since a lot of suits of both genders dominated the lobby and adjoining restaurant. That's where Jamie and I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet which was quite a huge spread of food from which we grazed liberally (photo: http://bit.ly/1UWLZz3). With a rather gray view of the neighboring hotels and apartment buildings, our room was spacious, a "superior" room with a king bed and a purple Cleopatra sofa for lounging. It goes for a pretty reasonable $123 per night on hotels.com. We would definitely consider seeking it out should we find ourselves in Helsinki again.

Day 1 thus far. Check in was a little rough but Jami smoothed things over and provided fantastic…read moreservice. The view from the lobby is wonderful and the rooms are lovely. Unfortunately, the dinner staff at the restaurant are truly awful (in contrast to the breakfast team who are sunny and helpful). Sofia from the dinner staff was unbelievably rude - I am not sure why she's in this industry. It is the first time I have felt discriminated against in all my years of travel for business or pleasure. Anny, her manager, took her side without even listening to me, which left me shaking with indignation. The hotel could also do with more people manning the front desk phone as there is no one that picks up - but that is something that can more easily be sorted out.

Beautiful views especially if you get the superior room suite. The standard rooms have a…read morerectangular window top to bottom which is decent but gives limited view of the surroundings. Clarions probably one of the tallest buildings in Helsinki thus the great view if you pay extra for " superior view suite" there's a pool at the roof which is great but the temperature could've been warmer even in the summertime which is pretty windy up there on the 16th floor. The hotel as a whole is gravely understaffed. And if you're like me you like a nice cool room in the middle of August that has air condition running well. If not you may want to look somewhere else because the air conditioning there is definitely substandard. We had quite the situation with the air condition in the time I was there. It was actually colder outside than it was in the room. Pretty overheated. Because of Covid there was no room service which kind of stunk even though prices were not quite as bad as I thought they'd be. There's no assistance with your luggage by the way. There's no bellhop to help you up. You have to lug your own luggage up there and in my case I had two full-size cases in my carry-on plus some other luggage so it was not easy to have to change three different rooms before we had a room that had the proper air condition and even then there were still some issues trying to get the AC to work properly. The AC issue didn't get fixed for a full two days of the five days I was there. Having said that they did comp me on at least One day due to this issue and the fact that the Wi-Fi was down for two full days. Also it's good to note that they will allow deliveries of food to the hotel despite there's no room service however if you want to heat anything up there is one microwave in the entire hotel that's available to guests and it's in the lobby so you made to put yourself on display in the middle of the lobby to heat up your food at dinner time or whenever that might be. So beyond not convenient. The pool has panoramic views as well. They have I believe 16 speakers over the pool for great music however the music was only on some of the time which didn't seem to make a lot of sense and there was no staff on the roof at all and you couldn't order anything from the pool which would've been ideal situation. This is why I give it a rating of three stars for the view for the pool for the great sauna but the The understaffed team you could feel how awkward it was. Finally breakfast is included in any stay at this hotel's breakfast is pretty good. Decent selection most people will be happy with the choices.
