They offer weekly and monthly architecture / history walking tours in Downtown LA with few seasonal tours. [Weekly Saturday tours]: Historic Downtown, Broadway Historic Theatre and Commercial District, Art Deco, and Union Station. [Monthly Saturday tours]: Angelino Heights, Modern Skyline, and The Biltmore Hotel lobby. *** Historic Downtown Walking Tour - each Saturday at 9:45 AM *** [Parking]: Option #1 (shorter walk) is the Pershing Square underground garage (532 S. Olive Street, Los Angeles, 90013) - $9 all day on weekends. 2nd option (longer walk) is the Westlawn Garage at Central Library (524 S. Flower Street) - discount is offered to Los Angeles Public Library card holders (parking validation is available at the library's Information Desk on the first floor). I only paid $1 at the Westlawn Garage with parking validation ($1.00 flat rate - validation still apply even if visitors come before 9:30 AM). [Special notes]: Arrive at least ten minutes early to check in. Tour meets at the center of Pershing Square near the mini-groves of Orange trees. The tour was supposed to start at 9:45 AM, but everyone arrived at 9:30 AM so our tour had an early start. [Price]: $25 per adult. $18 per youth (17 years and under). [Duration]: Our tour started at 9:30 AM and ended at 12 PM. The starting point was Pershing Square and the ending point was behind The Bradbury Building. All tours are led by volunteers. [Experience]: The tour mainly focuses on discussing beaux-arts vs art deco buildings. Our group walked into 5 different buildings including PacMutual Building, Los Angeles Public Library, The CalEdison, Grand Central Market, and The Bradbury Building (aka known from the 1982 movie Blade Runner). There was a short restroom break at Los Angeles Public Library at 10:30 AM. Our group also rode Angels Flight Railway and fare was covered as a part of the tour. [Conclusion]: A solid tour and it was a great experience to learn some basic history of buildings in Downtown LA. I would definitely consider doing some of their other tours to learn more about LA.

Arrived Early, Treated Rudely, Safety Issues, 30+ Minutes Late…read more We prepaid for the 11:00 AM open-air tour 4 days in advance and arrived at 10:40 AM with printed confirmation stating the bus leaves on time and all late arrivals are bumped to the next tour. Instead, we were repeatedly told to "come back closer to 11" and then that there was a "bus issue" and come back at 11:15 am. We wandered around in the cold. We checked in 3-4 times because we had lunch plans after the 2-hour tour. Staff claimed another group was late (which turned out NOT to be true). Meanwhile, employees were trying to recruit more passengers. Only after we said we were canceling 30 minutes late, did they send us to board a bus. The driver was nice, but one seat behind him had no working seat belt. Three blocks after leaving, the bus was called back to pick up a group of 8 even though there were only 7 seat belts available. We were pressured to give up our safe seats and wait for another bus. We refused to exit. We refused to sit without a seat belt. The older male staff member was aggressive and extremely rude. The tour left over 30 minutes late. Disorganized, misleading, RUDE older man and unsafe. Horrible experience for the start of our vacation. Would NOT recommend.

I think LA is a city where you can walk everywhere is not bike. So I feel really great about leaving this review for them. If you never done a 'free tours by foot' let me tell you they are located in different cities around the world. You go online, find your city and sign up for the tour that best interest you. At the end of the tour you are free to tip the guide whatever you thought the tour was worth, could be $10, $200 or even free! Its whatever you can afford type of thing. The tours are lead by locals that are experts in this town and obviously love the city they live in or they would not be doing this. The length of the tours depends on the city you are visiting but typically lasts about an hour or so and the walking distance is not that long plus they take lots of breaks (in the shade too). That being said let me review the free tours by foot Los Angeles. I went online and signed up and got a confirmation email to meet at the designated location on Friday. I arrived and had no trouble find my tour guide. We waited for the rest of our group to arrive and he introduced himself and went around asking the group where everyone was visiting from. He started with some basic 'housekeeping' rules and then proceded to start with a history intro on how the city got on the map. It really was more historical but that's good because that built up for the rest of the tour. Our guide would finish talking about a building and then would tell us where the next destination would be. He encouraged people to ask him questions and it was clear he was very excited to share his knowledge of the city with others. People asked him all kinds of questions and Emir always had a great answer. He had a tablet that had short movie clips or had a slideshow of some of the buildings we were looking at or famous people that helped shaped the city to what it is now. I never have seen that on a walking tour before. At the end of the tour he thanked us and mentioned he would stick around for about 15 minutes to answer any questions. He also mentioned the tour available tomorrow of downtown LA. He and his wife are the 'founders' of this city and are also tour guides (so cute). They lived in Chicago but then moved to California and then moved back to Chicago but ultimately missed California too much and decided to move back to Los Angeles. For a chapter that has only been around for 7 months, I say the tour was well put together. I went on a Hollywood walking tour and saw things like capital records building, the walk of fame, Egyptian theatre, famous restaurants, the Chinese theatre, talked about the Hollywood sign, talked about famous magicians and much more. I recommend taking a free tours by foot tour if you get a chance. These are really good ways to know a new city from a locals perspective.

It's very clear that Jordan loves this part of town and was meant to share her knowledge with others. Like, did you know Marvin Gaye performed right off Crenshaw in what used to be the Apollo of the West? Me neither! Her vibe is like the coolest teacher you ever had and her enthusiasm is contagious. Our walk ended at the Leimert Park Village Festival which has everything from Louisiana fried catfish (SO good) to fresh fruit to custom-made jewelry, all scored by an incredible drum circle and 90s Rn'B. As a 90s kid my favorite was the hip-hop themed ice cream shop All Chill, replete with Public Enemy action figures and custom purple Raekwon Diadoras. But there's everything from an incredibly tasteful book store to a boutique skate shop (shout to Neighbors for the hat). All independently owned and all run by and helping the community. Anyway, I could go on and on, but just go experience it for yourself. I'm super grateful to Jordan for hosting this and if there's any justice it will completely blow up.
