This school dose NOT have off-campus eating. They also MAKE you stay until 4pm. So if you send…read moreyour son / daughter here just be aware that they can't go off campus to eat. Also if the student wants to leave they just can't leave they have to call then wait for the office to call them up. Oh yea if your student wants help from another teacher but he or she is in a study hall they wont let you go get help. Also if your son /daughter is failing their class(s) they will kick them out because they are failing. You also have to sign up to be going to the school which is a lot harder considering that they have a waiting list. Im surprised they have not been shut down by the government yet. Also we DON'T have P.E. classes since the person in charge fired him.

When our granddaughter attended other schools she failed miserably. Since attending Silver State Charter School she built her confidence, enjoys learning and prides herself in getting straight 'A's. This is largely due to the flexibility in schedule, the knowledge of the faculty in helping students that have learning disabilities as well as other students that had problems in public schools. My granddaughter enjoyed her middle school years here, last year when she would come home from school and did not understand an assignment she was able to contact her teachers 24/7 via email for help sometimes it was 10:00 PM at night and would receive a reply within 20 minutes. All of the faculty and the classified staff are equally, kind, caring and understanding of the students and parents. No matter how busy they are, they are available to help you, and answer any questions and concerns you or your student may have. My granddaughter just retuned to Silver State Charter High School as a freshman this week and absolutely loves it. Already in the first week of school the faculty and the classified staff are helping her succeed! Special thanks to all of them. Yes, I highly recommend Silver State Charter School to any student that wishes to receive quality education and guidance. I can go on and on about this school but I would be writing a novel.

I had wanted to go to Stewart Indian School for years and finally made it out there today with my…read morehusband. I am so glad we went! The school is in the peaceful, open space of the high desert, surrounded by blooming sage brush and towering cottonwood trees. On our visit, we stopped in the gift shop which was filled with amazing souvenirs and stunning handmade pieces of Native American art. The Native American lady who was a volunteer there had once been a student at the school and had a lot of interesting information to share, both positive and negative. She also wrote her own book about her experience which I bought and she signed for me. In the main museum, another volunteer gave us a tour which we learned a lot from! For instance many of the Native American people who were kidnapped and forced to attend this school came from the Southwest as well as Nevada. The grounds are beautiful. Most of the buildings are made of the colorful stones native to Nevada. Local Students learned how to cut and chisel the stones from the Hopi of the Southwest. They taught their classmates how to build the buildings. Today, the school is a place for Pow wows and for the public to learn about Native American cultures. I urge everyone to come check out this important historical place. The Native American cemetery just across the street is where the famous basketmaker, Datsolalee is buried.

They even have a research room to learn about American Indian culture and art gallery that displays local artists. We went with a group of kindergartners, and the staff was amazing. They went out of their way to help us, read us books. And designed an age appropriate activity where we planted native seeds for us to plant. Great experience
