This spot was adorable! I came here on a quiet Monday night around 9 pm, after a late workday. Love the ambiance of the outdoor bar seating, and the wait staff were charming. No English menus for this non-Portuguese-speaking girl here, but I actually think Portuguese is a little easier to figure out than Spanish. So if you're in my equally illiterate shoes, smile, pull out Google Translate, and guess away.
I ordered the octopus and fish ceviche, the fettucine with mushrooms, a caipirinha and the "Texas" cocktail, because the bartender really wanted me to drink it.
I found the ceviche to be the most underwhelming item out of all my choices. It was fresh and tasty, but a little under-seasoned, without either the sharp bite of citric acid nor enough salt to offset the sweetness of the cherry tomatoes in the mix.
The fettucine was delicious, with that chewiness of handmade goodness. The sauce was thick and didn't break at all, and the mushrooms were heavenly. I didn't really taste the lemon zest that was supposed to come sprinkled on top, but that's probably because the other flavors were stronger.
The caipirinha was fine, but the Texas was a true mixology delight. My bartender didn't speak much English, but he used Google Translate to tell me a number of different details about the herbs and flavors he used in his drinks, which was really endearing.
All in all, I was very impressed and would definitely come back here again. read more
