Fantastic Chinese meal. Our group included two Chinese from west China and they were very impressed with the authentic Sichuan flavours. The egg plant dish was a favourite but equally the Sichuan dumplings were fantastic. Remember this is spicy food so expect full spicy flavours

Stumbled upon this place on Yelp, and decided to try it based on the reviews. I ordered immediately, but the service was a little slow when trying to get my food. Though, when the food came out it made up for the slow service. If you're into authentic southern Chinese food, this is a must go to! I ordered S2 as a previous review recommended and I highly recommend it as well. The people that work here are very nice as well but if you're in a rush, order take out ahead of time because this is a must if you're looking for some authentic Chinese food in New Zealand!

Authentic chongqing Sichuan food -- surprising you find in Rotorua, NZ. We came here twice. Service is great -- friendly and fast. Menus in both Chinese and English with all the same options. If you don't know what you're ordering the menu online comes with photos of every item and there are a ton of choices. Excellent noodle soup dishes as well as the Sichuan staples such as spicy boiled fish. Portions are enormous and good for groups. They also have free WiFi which is really nice for tourists like me.

These dumplings were right up my alley - with a delicious peanut topping and a broth in the base of the bowl

This is a very pleasant modern Chinese restaurant (with hip new decor) to hang out in if you are in Rotorua. We were given an iPad on which to view the menu, so we could see pictures of what we might order. One of our dishes came out as the wrong thing - I wanted a spicy beef stew with noodles - no problem, it was exchanged without a fuss. The service was fast, pleasant, and the waiting staff were there to make our experience a good one. We ordered too much, and it was pretty jolly nice. $76 for 4 people. Some dishes go up to $38.80 but we stuck to the $15.80 range.

My husband has been here on a number of occasions, but I finally just got around to coming here…read moremyself about a week ago. We came during the "lunch rush," time. My husband and I usually joke that a good Chinese restaurant has menus in Chinese, only chopsticks and lots of Chinese people eating at it. This place didn't fall short. I will start by saying that you need to get past the exterior of this restaurant and go inside and give it a try. If you were just driving or walking by, it looks like a bit of a dump from the outside. So, I was pleasantly surprised that the inside was much nicer and cute. The menu had tons of options to choose from. I was feeling under the weather, so I opted for a bowl of handmade noodle soup with chicken. It was really tasty. My only qualm is that the chicken was served with the skin on and attached to the bone. I realize this probably really helps the flavor of the soup, but it's a pain when you're trying to eat a bowl of soup and have to fish out pieces to eat with your hands. Also, the bones were jagged in some places and I got a bit fearful of accidentally swallowing chicken bone shrapnel by the end of my bowl. That said, it was really good overall. My husband was very pleased with his beef and vegetable dish and they spiced it almost to his liking (he likes things REALLY spicy). I would definitely return (probably wouldn't get the chicken soup again, but would maybe have the same dish with pork or beef instead). The noodles were great and I look forward to trying some of the other items. What is also great is that the prices are really quite fair and certainly there is a great value for your money here (large portions, low prices).

Holy moly, this place is the real deal! Authentic Sichuan dishes at very reasonable prices. The…read moredownside is there is a wait. But a table of 4 at 6:30pm took about a 30 minute wait to be seated. So not too bad in my book. The E-1 Spicy Fish, Mapo Tofu, and Dan Dan hand shaven noodles were excellent! And the marinated cucumbers in garlic helped cool down my mouth as well.
