Dr. Singhal was horrible. She didn't give me clear instructions regarding my procedure and said I had to have a plastic surgeon for a skin graft which it turned out I never needed. Only after I went to the plastic surgeon did she tell me I went too soon because they didn't test the margins yet. In addition, the surgery left a big ugly dent in my arm. When I called her on it, she took no responsibility. She blamed me as if I was supposed to know and said it was my responsibility. A wonderful dermatological surgeon at Stanford fixed my arm, got out all the cancer cells and fixed the dent in my arm with no graft necessary. I was so pissed I had to finally write this review. I recently underwent a procedure with Dr Shyamali Singhal. We chose Dr Singhal after a wide search online factoring in recommendations, reviews and her youtube videos. We ultimately made the decision based on her beliefs around putting the patient first and how her office does what it can to make a tough situation as smooth an experience as possible. From the first meeting, Dr Singhal put me at ease, explaining the procedure in great depth and answering all my questions. I'm the type of person who wants to know everything and I was surprised at the amount of patience Dr Singhal had for me keeping up her calm demeanor the whole time offsetting my nervousness. The day of the procedure, Dr Singhal spent time with me and my husband before and after the procedure and really kept me at ease as much as possible. I'm so glad I found Dr Singhal and will forever be grateful for the care she offered me in this trying time. Dr.Singhal is the best general surgery doctor! My mom has stomach problem for a long time. Her Gastroenterologist made a big mistake. At the end, she had to do the surgery. She has been refused by another two general surgery doctors. One of the doctor said the surgery was too complicated, he couldn't help out. Then, we got the referral for Dr. Singhal. She successfully saved my mom. And, the surgery part is perfectly healed. Also, Dr. Singhal is a very responsible and nice person. She talked with me for all the details and possibilities before surgery. She also checked with my mom for several times after surgery. Plus, she had lots of experience! My first meeting with Dr. Singhal was in the ER, and I was in severe pain and scared to death. She was very direct and professional, but also compassionate. These are qualities you want in a surgeon, If you ask me. The next day her first words were that she owed me an apology because she was so busy she forgot to call my contact person after the surgery. No harm no foul, my nurse totally took care of it. That she mentioned it, though, and apologized showed character. Just got back from my follow up, and wow, outside of the hospital she has a terrific sense of humor and is much easier to talk to! Doesn't talk over my head, or talk down to me, just explained what was going on and answered all of my questions fully. It was a quick visit, but she didn't seem rushed at all, and we had a short conversation that was pleasant, and she had me laughing. She's just so human, and warm and funny! LOVED the front desk staff as well, very professional, but very approachable, too, and we shared some chuckles ad well. My surgery was for a strangulated inguinal hernia. I recently had a very complicated case of appendicitis that landed me in the hospital for 15 days over 3 admissions. I started at Stanford hospital, which did a good job overall. However, their general surgery department has a team approach. This means that they consult with each other, but you see whichever surgeons and residents happen to be on service at that time. And because they were always on the way to surgery you got very little of their time. When I went for my first follow-up appointment after hospital I met with a surgeon whom I had never seen and who had to get up to speed by reading the notes while I was in the office. Although parts of the care at Stanford were outstanding and they probably saved my life, the team approach didn't work for me. I was VERY FORTUNATE to be referred to the office of Dr. Singhal. We met with her in her office and she took the time to fully answer all of my questions, things I didn't fully understand even after having spent so many days in hospital. Dr. Singhal does the most difficult of surgery cases, Whipple, liver resections, oncology etc. and is very experienced with complicated acute appendicitis cases. At our first meeting, she gave me a very clear plan of action which really helped alleviate my anxiety. When I finally had surgery, she did an amazing job which was fortunately laparoscopic which I didn't expect due to the complexity. This really helped enable a faster recovery. It's a few weeks later and I had no issues with the procedure and am feeling great. Also, a special shout out to her assistant Kristen who promptly answered questions, returned emails and made sure to get the answers to any question I had. Dr. Singhal's office is run like a doctor's office instead of a large hospital office. I feel so fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Singhal's office. read more

When I found out that my mother Phuong N. had stage 3 rectal cancer, I was frustrated and afraid. I was not sure if I was going to be able to find the right doctor for the surgery. Luckily, I got a referral to Dr. Singhal from gastrointestinal Dr. Trinh. When I went online to see her reviews, at first I was doubtful if she was the right one for the surgery, but the warm reviews gave me a good idea of what to expect and my gut told me she was the doctor that would help my mother out. Of all the other doctors I could've picked, I think Dr. Singhal may have been the best choice and I do not regret picking her for the surgery. She was extremely professional and walked us through the steps of what she had to do. She quenched any fears that I and my family might've had about my mother, as this was a big surgery. After my mother had the surgery, she began the healing process and I could not have been more pleased with the results. Dr. Singhal and her staff were extremely helpful and me and my mother thank them for saving her life. We believe that after a speedy recovery, my mother will go in to live a fruitful, happy life! When you are in a situation, as a human being, we always look for comfort and care!! and also, confident is very important to us!! The year 2020 was not the best year for all of us. However, those of us who received unexpected life changing disease have a perspective of life. I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and this was the last thing that I was expecting. However, life has already written your destiny. But what matters is that regardless of the difficulty we receive, it always matters who you lean on!! As usual, like all of us feel in life, my family and I were terrified from the bad news we received. But, I was lucky enough to meet the best care that my doctor Sarah Azad connected me to and that was Dr. Shyamali M. Singhal. She took us under her wing and explained crystal clearly with great passion and gave us comfort when we needed it most. She made it easy to understand the procedure and to understand what we should expect. Within one month I had my first surgery and my second surgery was after 17 days. I was so grateful that everything went well and I connected with a doctor who knows what she is doing. Not only that, she is easy going, honest, and very confident about what she was trained for and she will give you the truth and what you should expect from your disease. I understand many people have a different experience in life, but my approach of my disease was different because personally, I accepted whatever my Lord gave to me and I trusted my Lord and my doctors gave me the comfort and trust I was looking for. She did not let me down, from her staff all the way to my bedside. Dr. Singhal recently performed my Gallbladder surgery and she was wonderful throughout the entire process. She explained exactly what was going on and what needed to be done, and she was very comforting to a wimpy patient like me who had never had surgery before. I had my surgery on a Tuesday night, went home on Wednesday afternoon and was back at work on Thursday. I felt zero pain after the operation and did not need to take any pain medication whatsoever. Sadly, this Doctor did a triple hernia repair on me and straight after the surgery a small not visible umbilical hernia resulted in a massive abdominal rupture where I now suffer from most of my intestines hanging out of my belly. I felt she had rushed my surgery, didn't hang around to visit me directly after the surgery and I was kicked out of the hospital within few hours of the surgery completed. I have suffered with this condition now for over a year as I lost my job and associated medical insurance so if you are considering any hernia surgery I would think carefully about using this surgeon. read more

Staff here are very lazy. Especially the office manager Melissa she talks very loudly and very ghetto in front of customers. I thought I was in East L.A when I was in this place. Also Dr. Singhal does know what she is doing at all she mis diagnosed my treatment not once but three times she prescribed wrong medications. Melissa wrote prescription without the doctor signing it only for me to have to drive back 4 times to get the prescription written correctly. Not sure who gave her a medical degree she is not smart at all. Stay far away from this place as possible. I love Dr Singhal and her whole staff! Getting diagnosed with cancer is a scary thing and if it had been left up to me I would probably have taken several months to even get my first appointment scheduled while I lived in denial. But Dr Singhal and her staff took care of everything from the minute I got diagnosed and moved everything along including appointments, consultations, insurance questions, and treatment. She is great to talk to and we were able to understand the diagnosis, procedures, stats, and what to expect very clearly. She even gave me an unsolicited call later in the evening one time to clarify one portion of the procedure because I seemed confused. Having been diagnosed two weeks before my first baby was due, we really appreciated how compassionate she is and how she thinks about how much you can take as a human being vs just another patient with cancer. She performed a lumpectomy, sentinel lymph node removal, as well as port insertion and removal. I felt so much more at ease the minute I see her in pre-op rooms and she gives me the shoulder squeeze. All of the procedures went incredibly smoothly and recovery was easy. As for the incision sites themselves, Dr Singhal saw through her promise that I could hit up a nude beach later in life if I wanted to. Did not have a good experience, the Doctor barely spent 10min with me and then I spent a few weeks back and forth with the receptionist. I did not get the feeling my concerns were taken seriously when trying to get imaging for abdominal pain. I was referred by a GI Doctor who has been great! I read Dr. Singhal's reviews and decided to take a chance since there were some good reviews. Overall, I basically wasted my time. Thankfully I have good insurance so at this point only had to pay a copay for the 1 time I saw the Doctor. I will fight it, if I end up with a bill. Really did not get good vibes! read more

Dr. Singhal is amazing!!!!! As I read the other reviews, I can only agree with all I read. She operated on my 77 year old mother who is now cancer free. She made us feel as if my mom was the most important patient she had, as obviously she does with all. I since have referred her to a few other friends with cancer and every one of them are amazed with how talented of a woman she is. She made a very scary and anxious time in our lives a wonderful experience. She continues to see my mother quarterly and although we have a two hour commute to Mt. So i saw Dr Singhal video on her website and was super excited to meet her but the experience wasn't good. I went to find a surgeon, so it was crucial id find one whose- caring and a team player. She is a skilled surgeon and the Director of the Cancer Center for El Camino Hospital. I first met Dr. Singhal when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and on the same day discovered my insurance company had canceled contracts with the physicians I knew. I was at a total loss of what to do when a physician friend highly recommended Dr. Singhal. From the first meeting I found her to be personable, candid, and compassionate. She spent a significant amount of time discussing and explaining options in detail. She is a great listener. It was clearly the right time to change hospitals and health care providers. Later I was diagnosed with colon cancer but I already knew Dr. Singhal was the right surgeon. I am impressed with her approach to the multidisciplinary team approach toward treating cancer including evaluating targeting genetic mutations. My wife got really sick due to some wrong procedure by GI doctor and there was very complicated surgery involved because she got acute pencreatitis and was in severe pain already. She was honest in the results to expect which is something I researched prior to my visit and validating my findings. The outcome was better than even I could have wished. After one month I fill very good and only side effect after surgery - was losing 20 pound and normalize my cholesterol. Now one year and 2 month after my surgery only a very little scarring left. The surgery itself was quick, painless and the next few days there was barely any soreness. The doctor insisted follow-up visits to ensure healing was coming along as expected.
