Philippe was very responsive to my email inquiries, and I decided to reserve sedan service from OnWay. Philippe was waiting for me in arrivals as I left customs and immigration, and helped me with my luggage to the car. The sedan was clean, well maintained, and comfortable. There was water available, and Philippe offered to share Internet service if I couldn't get a good mobile data connection. Philippe spoke fluent English, and on the 2-hour drive we had a pleasant conversation about São Paulo and travel in general. Based on my experience on arrival, I also decided to book my return from the hotel back to the airport a few days later. We arranged a 5:30am pick-up at my hotel for the flight, and Philippe was waiting for me already when I got to the lobby at 5:25am to check out. If I find myself traveling to São Paulo again, I will definitely use OnWay again.

A cab into the city or to the local airport has a fixed price and will range from R$130-R$150 if you order at the cashier for Guarucoop. An UberX can range from R$60-R$80 depending on traffic, but if you are traveling solo and want a cheaper and comfy option, this shuttle might be the best. For only R$43/person you could get a bus to either República (metro station), Paulista Av, Itaim, Brooklin or Congonhas Airport. Each of this routes have their own time and schedule. Bus is comfortable, has A/C and a space to carry your luggage. Some of them have a functional WiFi and TV.

I really love Guarucoop airport taxi. Arriving at São Paulo's GRU airport, just head past the…read morebaggage claim and outside to the branded kiosk. You pay a flat rate to get to the city (it's R$140 for me to get to Pinheiros), offer the attendant your exact address and then have the ability to pay the full amount on your credit card. If you're lucky, there won't be a line and you can just hop in a taxi, but if it's a Monday around 8/9am, you may have to join the line. The worst I've had was 45 minutes (and that's after landing from an international red eye flight). The pros: you can pay with your card in advance, no language barrier issues, no worrying about whether the driver will take the long route to run the fare, nice and clean cars.
