Yelp Review 2025 #203: I actually like this domestic airport than the major international and domestic airport in São Paulo. It's closer to the city especially the Vila Olimpia/ Paulista area. It's smaller but seemed more organized compared to São Paulo's other airport. There's a food court, some shops, and restaurants. It's easy to navigate. The elevator wasn't working when I was here but they have an inclined walkway instead of stairs so you can easily go down to exit the airport with luggage. Uber is easy to get. They have dedicated waiting areas for Uber with electrical outlets and seats. read more

Chaotic and very busy for such a small airport. Ride shares on the way out may be a bit lore difficult with longer wait times. I'd recommend a taxi if you don't mind spending a bit more. Traffic around the airport, and São Paulo in general, can be a nightmare so plan accordingly. The location closer to our hotel was the key factor in us flying here from Salvador. Short run way, scrapping tops of buildings on the landing, and disembarking on the runway were all just added bonuses. read more

If this was Houston, GRU would be Intercontinental, while Chongonhas would be Hobby. I had arrived from Houston to GRU on United, but the delayed flight caused me to miss my flight to Navagantes. Airline personnel took good care of me and sent me over (via taxi) to City Airport. My Portuguese language skills were minimal, but I found this airport relatively easy to check in, navigate, and even stop for a bit to eat. However, using to ATMs to obtain local currency was elusive and would have to wait until I landed in Navagantes. Wi-Fi was also available, but for the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to sign in. Yet, my Gol Linhas Aéreas flight boarded nicely and on time, and soon I was on my way for the next leg of what turned out to be a pretty cool Brazil adventure. read more

False advertising, Congonhas is not in the Congo. In fact, it's in vast, urban Sao Paulo, and is the regional airport from where you might fly to Rio or BH or Salvador. I've used it only once, and it was perfectly fine, efficient, and packed to the brim with Brazilians (unlike GRU which is all sorts of tourists mixed in). It could use an update and a remodel, as it looks like an airport from the 1970s and is a little run down in places. Still, it's not bad at all. And if you want to dance in here, I recommend the Conga. read more

Check in said is not through the gray main building but along the left side. There's computer checkin kiosks for nearly every airline so check those out first if you're already checked in or have no luggage because it goes quite a bit faster. There's small restaurants scattered throughout the downstairs and past security but the big official airport restaurant is upstairs just before the security check. They only had buffet in the morning. Security was relatively quick, they check your ticket then you pass through X-ray and you're good to go. It's a lot simpler than in USA where you have to separate your liquid toiletries and take off your shoes and sweaters. There's also a centurion lounge if you're a baller and have an American Express card. Free breakfast items, comfy seating and such but it's quite crowded. Gates 13-22 are downstairs and you have to take a shuttle to your plane. Overall decent place and free wifi read more

Used this airport to get back to Rio De Janeiro. From my experience we were able to quickly checkin, and get through customs. In the gate area there are restaurants, magazine shops and some souvenir shops. If your looking for a hotel to stay at that is located close by, I recommend the Ibis Hotel. It is literally across the street. read more

If you're familiar with the Greater Los Angeles area, this place is Burbank and GRU is LAX. That means... this airport is WAY BETTER than GRU. It is small, but we were checked in and through security in less than 10 minutes. They did change the gate on us three times with zero announcements, but we eventually found it. We did have to ride a cramped bus to get onto our plane, but we got to board it like the Beatles from the ground. It is slightly terrifying landing at this airport, but if you can stomach to keep your eyes open, it's kind of neat! read more

The airport offers a lot, but it seems like it's due time for an upgrade. In terms of access, the location in the middle of the city makes getting there easy from pretty much anywhere. Once inside, there is a pretty large shopping area, featuring stores and several restaurants. It was a little busy though, so we decided to move through security first. If you're from the United States and haven't flown in Brazil before, security might catch you by surprise. It is a very traveler-friendly experience, and minimally intrusive. Once on the other side, the airport once again offered several restaurants, as well as some airline clubs. If you're an AmEx card holder, there's also a Centurion Lounge, although it is pretty small and got crowded quickly. The biggest fault to the airport is structural. The airport just looks worn out. It's hard to explain, but the walls, seats, and generally everything around seems like it has seen a lot of travelers come through. I don't know if any renovations are due, but I would recommend one if it's not in the plans. read more

Spacious and clean terminals, decent options to eat, atms to draw money, lounges and info desks for those travelers who don't speak Portuguese. However one thing that is super annoying and drives you nuts is the constant announcements on the PA system. read more

Growing up back in the 80's we spent a lot of time at this airport since it was the only major airport at the time. (Way before Guarulhos Internacional Airport). In 2009 when I went back to visit we decided to travel to Bahia and Rio both departing from Congonhas. Boy did I have a memory shock! As a child I thought this place was pretty cool, seeing the planes landing was such a treat! Fast forward to 2009 after more than 20 yrs since my last visit I was in shock when we pulled up curbside. The place has totally aged and obviously hasn't gotten a "much needed face lift" since the last time I there. Pretty sad looking for such a busy airport. The roads were jammed packed and it was chaotic getting in and out. Allow some time for traffic and check in! read more

The area between arrivals and departures has the feel and looks of a European train station! Smallish airport; not new but with plenty of amenities. Considering the short runway, expect very fast takeoffs and steep climbs. read more
