I'm in St. Joseph/Kalamazoo for an interview, and I heard about this place from my hotel. So glad I did. This dairy farm was a fascinating place to visit. For $5, you get an hour long tour of the place. Owner was super nice and knew enough to be a professional docent. This farm is a labor of love, and the hundred something cows are his kids. They have a massage scrub, wide space to roam, constant fans, and voluntary milking stations. I got to pet a calf and milk a cow. It's a really unique experience. Also got to learn about the current situation with agriculture in America. Dairy farmers are a dying breed (ha, get it?). I really hope this little farm continues on for years to come.

We had an amazing time petting the cows and calves. The family on this farm is really down to Earth and genuine. It's $5 to learn about the farm, a little dairy history, milk a cow (!!!), and pet any cow that will let ya. If you're looking for an unique experience, this is it right here. I wish this family all the best, thank you for sharing your family's livelihood with the public.

I'm so thrilled we made this part of our trip! The Shuler family has owned this farm for 100+ years and they continue to innovate, care lovingly for the animals and give a great tour. My 5 year old milked a cow!!

Up close encounter with the cows

Heard about the #roboticfarming at #shulerdairyfarm on NPR. This farm has been passed on thru multiple generations since 1882 and the current operators recently made some significant investments to have the business continue for another decade using technology to keep the next generation interested in the family business. The tour was extremely informative and engaging, love that they call the cows "their girls". Informative video and interactive tour including milking a cow and seeing the baby calves. My ten and twelve year old city slicker girls loved the experience and the ice cream.

My grandparents were dairy farmers of the old school so I'm a bit nostalgic, I guess, but I found it sad that the cows NEVER go outside.
