I feel sorry if someone had a bad experience with Dr. Ruskin and/or his staff, but it is what it is. I am what you may call a worrier, especially when it comes to anything that has to do with sedatives, anesthesia, and cutting body parts open. That being said, I searched high and low for a surgeon when my wisdom teeth were finally putting me in enough pain for me to acknowledge them. After for searching for a month (yes, I'm crazy), I did come across Dr. William Ruskin on a website called usatopdentists.com. Since he is in my area, I googled his name to see if I could confirm that he is worthy of such a title. I came across these reviews and was honestly put off. I met a couple surgeons who not only didn't care for my business, but really didn't seem capable of extracting my teeth. I had two impacted teeth, which needed to be taken out by an oral surgeon, especially because of their close proximity to my nerves. After asking around, it seemed ironic that 2 people who have no relation to each other referred me to Dr. William Ruskin. I decided I had nothing to lose by giving him a shot. Guys, I am young and look even younger than I actually am, so I don't get the best service wherever I go, because you know, people don't take me as serious. Little do they know how vital good customer service is to me. Having said that, I can't express to you how amazing everyone at this office was--especially the receptionist, Renee. She was AWESOME. Not only were they all so courtious, kind and helpful, but they were pretty quick and seemed to know what they were doing. Dr. Ruskin was so absolutely kind, patient and caring that I immediately felt comfortable with him putting me to sleep and taking all 4 of my wisdom teeth out, even with the possible risk of nerve damage. He warned me of it, which I respect. My surgery went perfectly, and I had no complications with healing. I did have dry socket on one side, but that is my own fault for dislodging the clot and was manageable with advil. I went in for my followup the next week, and he said everything looked good. After that, I was on my merry way out. I seriously could not have asked for a better experience. If you're looking for a surgeon who knows what he's doing and is skilled and kind, at least consult with him. You will not regret it.

I had oral surgery as my tooth was extracted & the socket filled with cadaver bone to begin the seven month grafting period. There was also a suspicious lump on my tongue that was removed for biopsy. I noticed it a year ago & forgot about it. People, this Covid thing has us all going nuts, so take care of yourself. Especially now. Dr. Bonine has on average seven emergencies a day. So if they fit you in to take care of your emergency, relax & enjoy the beautiful building & landscaping. There is also a lovely outdoor area, if you prefer to wait outside. Sorry to be this wordy, but I wanted to make a special attempt to thank the doc and his staff for make what potentially could have been a horrible day into a very pleasant day. BTW - Fear of needles here, there was no pain. Beautiful office overlooking a lovely pond with tons of birds. Great music & especially great people. He listened and addressed my concerns. Leading up to the date of surgery, the office called me several times to confirm and go over all instructions. I was very nervous the day of surgery and the staff and doctor put me at ease. I had IV sedation which made the procedure very comfortable. I left the office with clear and conscience instructions. The follow up instructions are very detailed telling me what to do throughout the day. Dr Gulati called me the evening of my surgery and staff called the following day. I would highly recommend this office and doctor.

Dr. Gulati knew exactly what to do, and removed the gland with no nerve issues or ill effects after. I received nitrous for my procedure. Today I came back for another issue. Also, I had one implant incorrectly installed in Ohio which failed, leaving me in significant pain, and Dr. Ruskin was able to get me in immediately to remove the failed implant. He later replaced the failed implant and I have had no problems the replacement. As for the staff, yes I have experienced some abruptness from certain staff members but I'd stop short of calling it rude (more like mildly unpleasant). Also, this was more of a problem 3-4 years ago at the Brighton office and I never experienced it at the Farmington Hills office except when some calls were automatically redirected to Brighton from Farmington Hills. Finally, yes they do not like to dig into your insurance details if they are not a participating provider, as it was for me in past years. However, in cases where my implants were not covered by insurance, they participate in something called DentaMax which gives a discount on the uncovered procedures (about 25%-30% for me) (but you still have to pay). I personally overlook the administrative issues in favor of the excellent quality of care and see Dr Ruskin exclusively for my extractions and implants. Dr. William Ruskin has always listened to me as a patient and is a great doctor.

But it left me scrambling to find someone new. I asked in a local Facebook group and got recommended to check out here. When I called to go through the insurance check and book an appointment, the scheduler was super helpful and friendly. I had to wait ~2-3 months but I didn't mind. They offered me waitlist spot in case of any cancellations. It never happened, but I do like that it's an option. I finally went, super wary of a new place and a new dentist. Immediately everyone was so friendly it put my anxious self at ease a bit. The hygienist was super sweet and very understanding. Made sure to keep me comfortable. I had cracks on the side of my mouth from overly dry skin and she was so sweet in making sure she was careful not to split them open and make them bleed. She listened to me and made me feel heard. The dentist himself was only in for a bit as I was just there for xrays and a cleaning. I had no issues, so we didn't interact much. But I have nothing bad to say about him either. This is definitely my new dentist for the long term.

They do just fine with a nervous nellie like me and yet still manage to remove any necessary plaque or other grossness and make my teeth all fresh and pretty. Prior to this I had a dentist who filled the wrong tooth and I ended up not going for awhile after. Dr Berman is careful and using him I have not had any further problems with my teeth, no fillings, nada. I really trust him which I needed after my prior bad experience. I have moved from my hometown but even with it less convenient for me, I am willing to make the drive.
