Pickles Pub is central Iowa gem. Hidden on blue Highway D 41 in Kamrar. The building is lovely with…read morea great hometown bar & grill vibe. Always bustling on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Fun Day, Pickles has a great staff of friendly, small-town folks. They hustle! Food comes out timely, and is good quality. We had a combo plate with fried mushrooms, pickles, and corn nuggets. It's all frozen stuff, but good quality. My wife had the French Dip sandwich and loved it (although she never dips her sandwich... wtf). I had the Patty Melt. It was cooked well on marble rye and was delicious. This is the ultimate roadside joint for a beer and bite. Nothing but positive energy for Pickles Pub!

I'd like to start out by saying; the experience exceeded any expectation I had!…read more My boyfriend and I visited on a Saturday evening. We had an app, 2 steak dinners & 2 drinks each for around $75. Great prices, good food, friendly staff. They weren't packed but as we sat there the place filled up very quickly! Classic American pub. I was not expecting my sirloin to be so well cooked & seasoned. It was the most perfectly cooked Medium steak. WORLDS better than the crap Texas Roadhouse puts out. I did ask for steak sauce or "A1" and one of the server's (not our server) looked at me like I had 5 heads & shook her head no. This dumbfounded me that she had no clue what steak sauce was. Our server grabbed the steak sauce so no harm no foul! We will be back to try the pizza which seemed quite popular there. This is also a great establishment if you have a larger party for dinner, they get the food cranked out pretty quickly.

Overall a good experience…read more My wife and I recently visited restaurant on a Wednesday evening. We live only a couple miles away. This restaurant recently changed location a few miles from where it had been for several years. New location is much nicer. Good atmosphere. Service was a bit slow but not bad and people were courteous. Food (pork chop dinner and hamburger) was good and seemed to be good quality. Price was $40 with tip. So it was reasonably priced. Only 1 recommendation I would share for the restaurant's benefit is our food was lukewarm. I suggest they start heating plates to prevent food from getting lukewarm or cold so quickly.

We really liked it!…read more We ate here a year ago when we were in Fort Dodge and we're back in town for a visit and decided to go back to Casablanca Steakhouse. It was a Tuesday night about 6 pm when the 4 of us arrived. A few tables had been seated and then the place nearly filled up while we were there. Our server was Chelsea and she was super attentive and helpful. We ordered appetizers to start: - Breaded Cauliflower (really good) - Breaded Mushrooms (also really good) We ordered the following for dinner: - 7 oz Pork Chop with side salad and baked potato - Chargrilled Shrimp with deviled eggs and baked potato - Ribeye Steak with side salad and baked potato - Steak Burger with Bacon and Fries Honestly, the food was really good, as was the service. It's pricier than other meals around town and I might not call this fine dining but it was close. We'll come back again next year.

Spencer, Iowa…read more During fair season we were looking for a nice place to eat. This was recommended so we went. Very busy place at 8 pm on a Saturday night. Many large parties but we were only two, so we waited only 10 minutes. Dining room has many tables with nice low back chairs. They are pleather with a soft cushion. A few tables line the walls with booths/chairs combo. The downside are the black paper napkins. I wish they were cloth. The menu is broad from salads to hamburgers and of course seafood and steak. Each entree comes with a side salad and choice of side. You can select from french fries, mashed potatoes, baked potato, mac & cheese, and more. The salad is nothing more than spinach mixed with iceberg two cherry tomatoes, and one slice of cucumber. They come in a chilled aluminum bowl. Hate eating out of aluminum. They should consider changing that to chilled plates such as those at the salad bar. The dinner rolls come in a basket with a napkin, prepackaged butter, and a side of what look to be cinnamon butter. I ordered the fisherman's platter which had fried shrimp, fried clam strips, and fried cod. I chose to have mac & cheese as my side. The cod was excellent. Thick, moist, and cooked to perfection. The shrimp were butterflied. Both the shrimp and the clam strips were inconsistently cooked. Some were done and others were soggy batter. The macaroni and cheese had a light creamy white sauce. It tasted fine, but didn't have any exceptional flavor. My husband ordered the prime rib. It sits on a bed of au jus. He really liked that idea instead of having to dip it. He said the meat tasted very good. He ordered a baked potato with his meal. I ordered a raspberry shanty beer with my meal. It was a draft beer. Very refreshing, very delicious! Our waitress was kind. Did not know much about the menu and had to keep asking questions from the kitchen. That is not a problem for me, and better to check than be wrong. The entire wait staff seems to hurry, and I often saw them running. I appreciate the willing to get things done and their quickness, However, I am certain they can be much more efficient without running toward the kitchen. Be aware if you pay by credit card there is a fee to do so. Try and bring cash so you don't incur that extra cost. I would for certain come back to this restaurant. I give this restaurant 4.5 stars.
