Chuy 1903 model T driver from ensañada

Did a model T tour in Ensenada Mexico. It was absolutely amazing. Chuy our driver was the star of the show. He was so informed and gave us such an amazing experience. The ride was so comfortable and we were able to see all the amazing sites. This is my second time using short excursions. I previously used them in Alaska and it was an amazing experience as well. Much rather do this than booking through the ship.

The city from the top of the fort.

We used the Shore Excursions Group for our excursion in Cartagena, Colombia. It was a tour of the Old Town which was full of history and wonderful sites, and our guide as well as the helper were wonderful! I would recommend highly. We had other ship tours that were definitely disappointing.

NASSAU TOUR One minor drawback of this excursion company may be its fight for tour bus location positioning. This was very evident in our Dominican Republic tour but more about that later. Just look for the representative holding the Shore Excursion sign. And you may be waiting for your tour for sometime. You'll also be following that sign holder and walking considerably further than the cruise line's sponsored tour buses. But the bus is comfortable and your guide and driver is very knowledgeable. Nassau, being the Capitol of the Bahamas and a huge percentage of the nation's population at over a quarter of a million people, representing around 70% of its total. So our tour included all the major government buildings of importance. We also passed by the huge new American embassy which has yet to be occupied. We passed by Fort Charles and made our first stop at the landmark Queen's Staircase aka the 66 Steps. Actually only 65 steps remain now due to the top step being accidentally covered over during some past maintenance. Nassau's past was also a popular center for numerous pirates, most notably the notorious Black Beard. It was interesting to learn that some of them often experienced guilt and regularly visited a nearby church to make confessions. A bit of movie trivia, a number of James Bond films had important scenes filmed in Nassau. We drove by a number of those and other movie locations. We also drove past the Providence Hospital, probably best remembered as the location where Anna Nicole Smith gave birth to her daughter Dannielyn in 2006. And tragically, after being visited there in her hospital room by her 20 year old son Daniel, he was found deceased only 3 days later. Our last stop was at the Atlantis Resort. Huge! We walked by all the high end shops and through its huge casino. And then it was time to head back to our bus and ride back to reboard the Carnival Celebration. I'd say it was an excursion well worth the price. The Dominican Republic Tour For our Dominican Republic stop, we sailed into Carnival Cruise's private port of Amber Cove. This is where booking through a private excursion company could be a bit of an inconvenience. Being that Carnival has exclusive ownership of this port, only their tour buses are allowed on the property. Have your walking shoes ready, because it's quite a trek from the ship through parking lots, down a narrow path and outside the property gates onto a side street. And so we approached the vehicles parked outside but had to enquire about Shore Excursion Group's bus, seeing no sign being held up. Finally, our guide found us. We were then led to, not a bus but a smaller passenger van. And on entering with a driver behind the wheel, we were somewhat startled that we would be their only passengers. But the guide, as well as the driver, produced all the right tour reservation info and reassured us that they regularly have only single couples, as well as other sized smaller groups. They were booked through the Excursion Group and driving for their company Country World. Our feelings of caution were appeased and we experienced a very friendly private and knowledgeable tour of Puerto Plata, a city of around 100,000 people and the surrounding countryside. Making a last stop at the tour's center, we were given an included traditional Dominican buffet lunch. We found the staff here very warm and friendly. Another elderly couple stopped by to rest from their tour and a younger couple dropped in the lounge area, resting up from their horseback riding adventure. They looked quite tired, one reason why we chose not to ride while getting off at a cruise port. I overheard the wife stating "I thought we'd never get out of that jungle." And as we enjoyed our lunch, they were soon preparing to continue their riding. After we finished our meal and headed back outdoors, we observed them galloping off again to finish their ride behind their guide. To finish our excursion, the center was also a Bird Sanctuary and Botanical Gardens. So along with our guide of the last few hours, his name totally escapes memory now, we were then joined by Jimmy. Jimmy led us through the grounds, describing all the garden species. Even letting us smell the leaves of numerous herbs and trees. Ahhhh! He then introduced us to the various bird species there; cockatoos, macaws, turkeys, flamingos, etc. And even a pair of African tortoises, one of which I got to hold. But my wife refused the offer lol! She wasn't shy about the parrots though, who fondly took to her. Very gentle birds and Jimmy works so well with them. It was then time to make our way back to Amber Cove and that long walk back to our ship. The older couple rode back with us. We appreciated the day's adventure and the kind guides and dependable driver. And felt a bit privileged that it was all private and personable. And reasonably priced through Shore Excursions Group, which we only recently learned of.

Turtle Cove off of St. Thomas

What fabulous experiences on these excursions! My children and I enjoyed every part of these trips from St. Thomas turtle snorkle, St. Maarten sail and snorkel, to Barbados scuba and beach excursions.

We booked all 3 of our Nov. 30-Dec. 7, 2025 cruise trip excursions with Shore Excursions Group. We loved each excursion, with my favorite being riding horses on the beach on Isla de Roatan. The staff were friendly, professional and vigilant about the clock to ensure we got back to our ship on time. Great fun and infinitely less expensive than booking excursions through the cruise ship! Highly recommend and will be using them again in February 2026!!

Getting ready to snorkel and, notice, no one is in the water!!!

We were a group of (7) friends and we booked the snorkel and taco workshop in Cozumel. It was AWESOME! Clemente was our guide and he was so great! The snorkeling spot was perfect b/c no one else was there and we were able to see lots of fish and the coral reefs. He made sure to point out fish hiding (i.e. puffer fish, lobster, etc.). The taco workshop was delicious. The restaurant prepared the pork and we made the guacamole and salsa tableside! I highly recommend this tour!

    Waiting for guide. Not here.

This is an update to the previous review. After talking with short excursions company, they would still not refund our money because they say our guide would've met us there even though it was two hours late and we would've had to be back at the ship with no time to travel we went through our credit card company and they refunded the money that we paid for our excursion. I would highly recommend nobody use that company as there are other excursion companies that will probably do a much better job.

    Cabo

I had the best time! David was an amazing guide and we had a great time. This beach day was my favorite experience of my trip. I was nervous using a group outside of the cruise line but everything was timed perfectly and I didn't need to worry. I will definitely book with them again.

    one of the temples

It was way too expensive for a drive to the Mayan Ruins. Enjoyed the woman who explained on the ride, but the guide at the ruins was too redundant. We would have been better off taking a cab like the rest of our family, same price for 6 that we paid for 1.

Hilo black sand beach. Shared the water with eels, turtles and schools of colorful fish.

At 1st glance that ship was very clean and fresh. Plenty of smiling faces around and everyone was happy to be there. As per the usual we had to get acquainted with the ship and find our muster station. (that was easy) Now on to some food and drink. It was raining but we made the best of it and most did. Room time! Spacious and well kept. Large port window and the standard bedding. (We did NOT have a fridge!) We asked our porter and he said "it was broken so they removed it" WHAT!? Ok :( The club was great every night and the white party even better! This is a small ship but still a fun ship. If its close to you, take a chance on it if you like smaller crowds this is the one for you! See you Soon!

First and LAST time on a Margaritaville cruise…read more The port parking was easy to find. We parked and checked our luggage with the porter. We entered the terminal to check in. Check in was easy but busy. We were assigned the time between 12pm-1pm to check in. Once on the ship, it was down hill. We went to our muster station, which was not labeled to find easily. Completed our muster. Then we went to get lunch from the buffet. The options were limited at the actual buffet area where you serve yourself. They had the buffet, cheeseburgers, tacos, pizza, and sandwiches. The food was mediocre at best this day and throughout the week. It was a struggle to find something to eat that was edible and tasted good. Even the jello was tasteless. Once our room was ready, we went to it. Luggage was not there upon arrival, but it arrived shortly after. It was a struggle with the AC in the room from the moment we checked in. We told our room steward immediately, who said once the ships sets sail, the air would work better. That never happened. It was consistently warm to hot in our room. Guest services was notified a few times via phone and in person. But it was not fixed. Not even sure someone came to our room. We waited several times but we never made contact with the person who came to "fix" it. We made the best of it but it was not comfortable at all. Most of the time we were hot and sweating at night and while in our room getting ready for the day or dinner. Mohamad was fantastic! He was our room steward. He took amazing care of us and our room. Our room was always clean and we always had fresh and clean towels! Entertainment was lacking for sure and limited. There was a lot of time where there was very little to nothing going on and to do. The excursions through the ship were limited as well. We picked to do the Margaritaville Resort in Nassau. We walked off the ship and through the port to transportation. This part was easy and well organized. The resort itself was clean and the staff were friendly. The pool was nice and not crazy crowded. The beach was another story. Absolutely packed and barely room to walk down to the waters edge. Not sure if it's only for Margaritaville Resort guests and day passes or if it's open to the public too. Drink package felt pricey at $360 for 4 days, and this was on sale. We had two port days, one embarkation day, and one sea day. I would NOT ever cruise again with Margaritaville.

    2.0(1 review)

Purpose of my review is to help people make better decision when choosing services for their hajj…read more Al-Noor Group basically sells services from another bigger hajj group. They don't tell you the name of the bigger hajj group until you receive your passport back after visa is issued, about a week before flight. In 2016, they sold services of Al-Alaa Hajj and Umrah Travel to manage Hajj. Al-Noor only bought airline tickets on their own. Everything else in the Hajj was purchased and managed by Al-Alaa. Al-Noor served just as the middle man, selling Al-Alaa services at a markup. Al-Noor took about 60 people and had an imam with the group. The presence of imam was very nice as he guided us through all the rituals and helped during holy tours. Al-Noor only bought airline tickets which had several stop overs. Turkish Airlines went to Istanbul from USA. Instead of taking a direct flight from Istanbul to Saudi, they chose a flight to go to Dubai. Had 13 hours of stay in Dubai and 9 hours on the way back. And then took budget airline from Dubai to Saudi and back. Since the tickets were bought separately, there was an issue of baggage transfer at Dubai airport. People had to pay $80-$100 per ticket to pay for baggage transfer services and the issue (and bickering) with the budget airline staff for baggage transfer took a long time in lines and unnecessary stress. Alnoor should have bought tickets on one itinerary all the way to Saudi Arabia or better just buy tickets of one airline. There are several airlines from US that go to Saudi with only one stopover (Turkish Airline, Etihad, Emirates, Qatar Airways) but I guess they were not able to make enough profit doing a straight ticket in one itinerary. They made the Hajis suffer at the airport. Alnoor did provide Hotel inside Dubai terminal which was nice. Everything else below was managed by Al-Alaa Travel. So it is more of review for Al-Alaa but it applies to Alnoor also in a way since they chose Al-Alaa service for their hajis. Medina residence was in Marriott as promised but Marriott is not a 5 star in Medina. It is most like a 3 star. Also it is about 10-15 mins walk to Masjid and you have to cross a busy road. There are several other hotels closer to mosque but must be more expensive. The daily breakfast and dinner buffet was really nice and had several items on the table. The bus from Medina to Makkah was a newer 2014 bus with attached toilet in the bus. The apartment building in Azizia was a bad experience. The bathrooms were dirty and they never cleaned it despite several complaints. In our bathroom, they never fixed the broken shower. Toilet would clog every other day but when complain, the staff wouldn't understand English. Very very small rooms with 4 twin beds. Room had a Window AC and a small fridge which thankfully were working. The location of the building was all the way inside some residential area. Lots of house flies everywhere in the lobby and in the dining area, may be because of garbage piles outside the building. One nice thing in the building was that they had big fridge / freezer in the dining area which had drinks, juices, water and icecream available for Hajis 24 hours. Also they provided us with buffet breakfast and dinner with several items. Our Mina tent was in North American section. The distance from our camp to Jamarat was 2.7km (1.6miles) which was not too bad. In Mina, AlAlaa management was really bad. Mina tents didn't have AC but only air coolers which were not working when we arrived in the Tent. Tents were really hot as outside temp was 115F. They fixed the aircooler in about 8 hours (in evening), but coolers were not good enough to make a big area cool. It stayed hot in tent throughout our stay. They didn't give us any lunch until 5pm which was a boxed lunch. Then they gave us a boxed dinner at 11pm, when everyone was sleeping. In Arafat, tent was nice with good working window ACs. In Muzadalifah, there was no dedicated area for AlAlaa and it was crowded but we managed to find a place between people to laydown. Initially they told us we had to bring our own sleeping bags, but about a day earlier they provided us with one. Overall we performed the hajj Alhamdulillah. If I had to change something, I would go with a different group so I don't have to stay in Azizia, and would pay extra to stay in a hotel right in front of haram. In Mina, I would go with a group that offer tents with real AC, not aircoolers or offer upgraded tents, where they have another air cooler on the wall other than over head coolers, and have drywalls instead of cloth tents. Also use a better route for airline with one stopover and all tickets in one itinerary, instead of separate tickets. I could not find Al-Alaa as Approved Hajj Travel Agent in this list. http://www.saudinf.com/samex/directory/listentries/pilgrimage/approved%20hajj%20travel%20agents.html?country=United+States I would not recommend choosing Al-Noor or Al-Alaa for Hajj.
