Despite her famous Ann Summers parties which bring the bingo crowd to your house to laugh at dildos that threaten to smash your coffee table, Ann has managed to achieve something of a respectable, upper market reputation on the high street which allows her to charge prices as indecent as a pair of crotchless undies. A very pricey way to look silly and get cold.

Small shop but plenty in it in many sizes - much better than when it was Contessa. All good reasons to go but the main thing is the gift wrapping - rather than stuff it into a bag, your goods are wrapped in tissue paper, scented beads are added and it is put in a gift box/bag for no extra cost. Sorry any environmentalists but Im a sucker for all this extra wrapping - it makes your purchase (even if just a pair of pants!) 10 times more special and can make great gifts!

Some people might need a warm beverage to relax them when confronted with the plethora of pleasure giving devices presented in this sexy grotto, I am not one of them, although I have to say, what a lovely touch. What I love about Sh is that they cater for girls and understand that most of us don't want to be confronted by a huge, black wobbly dildo when entering a store. Not to say that you cant buy one, or one covered in spikes or made out of glass or attached to a harness here (you get the picture) but they are tastefully presented and surrounded by feathers, bell adorned nipple tassles and rhinestone handcuffs amongst other wonderful inventions. The staff are pleasant, very knowledgeable and discreet, my first visit to the store was to buy a vibrator and the sales assistant recommended several, based on personal experience and sent me away very happy indeed with a waterproof 'Jessica' (£22). The variety of toys for men and women here rivals any similar store that I have visited and they also have a good selection of lubricants, literature and underwear.

Everything here is such a fanatic combination of rich satins and delicate laces... styles that are both subtly alluring and fiercely sexy. The window displays are ever-changing and never fail to woo me inside... with very few exceptions (most waspies just aren't that flattering...) I could easily cart off all of the darling nighties and luxurious knickers they have hanging on their racks. They support and carry a lot of more boutiquey labels and independent designer brands - which means you'll find stuff here that you won't anywhere else. They even have a line for expectant mothers (literally, yummy mummies, oy). This is also your place if you happen to be in the market for a corset or any other burlesque type fashions - they can even hook you up with the same satiny corset designed for Ms. Dita Von Teese.

To me the décor and theme seems even older than this but either way it's very appealing and makes me think of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! There are a great deal of imported sweets in Mr Simms, this one in Tunbridge Wells had even more than other Mr Simms that i've been to in the UK. I always find Mr Simms to be memorable and I walk away with something each time! The staff were friendly inside this store but perhaps not as nice as the staff in the Cambridge branch. A decent size but it can become busy and then it's very cramped. I love this store though and I recommend a visit!

Amongst other things they sell flat caps, fedoras, beautiful butter soft brown leather journals and coin purses (£21.20). They also sell boys-y things like old fashioned mess tins and constructable cardboard dinosaurs. There is some cross over of stock from the high street store, for example with their own brand scents (£29.50) which come very tastefully packaged in plain glass bottles, save for a coloured button denoting which of their four scents is inside. They also sell interesting old fashioned notebooks at both stores. The high street store is larger, and has a café at the back, although it is also more twee. It stocks women's and children's clothes and accessories aimed at the mummies of Lewes. Saying that they do have some lovely things, and the cakes are very tasty. They certainly don't go in for the minimalism of other nearby shops like Flint and Adamczewski, and as a result it's a good place to go for a rummage if you are gift shopping.

It is located in Langney shopping Centre with free parking in the adjacent car park - always good! The shop is a good size and stocks womens and childrens clothes as well as (i think) teen wear and home goods upstairs, however its been a good couple of years since i ventured upstairs so not 100% sure those bits are still there! The womens clothes i find rather middle aged and can be expensive compared to other ladies fashion shops stocking similar goods. The childrens clothes are some and some - i wouldn't pay the full prices for them as i don't think they are worth the prices charged, but in the sales you can pick up some good bargains. Usually a wider variety of younger kids clothes available - up to about 5/6 years. They do cater for kids upto about 10 but those items always seem few and far between. Lounge was the last shop I entered in to, probably the first one that wasn't a chain store or a charity shop. Unfortunately though, the clothes weren't really right for what I wanted. This isn't greatly surprising in a place like Lewes, but I just wasn't bowled over by the selection, especially not at the prices, and especially when Brighton is so close.

Lounge is expensive too. I have to admit, I do get most of my items from the sale rail, but it still tends to be over and above your usual high street branch. However, I also think that the quality is above and beyond. For a start, they tend to go with a few designers that they have individually sourced so you are always going to find something a little different. Often, they only buy in one item of each size and pattern, so you can be pretty sure you are not going to bump in to someone wearing the same dress! Everything is well made and the cut is usually flattering and fits well. The girls in the shop (the owner and the staff) are all really helpful, offering advise and suggestions of what goes with what. They are friendly and happy to chat even if you are just browsing.
