I used to come to Cordners to get my school shoes when I was younger (ah, those were the days), and usually managed to get a pair I liked since there was a decent choice. The best aspect of the shop is that the back section is dedicated entirely to children's footwear, and it even has its own entrance off Mary Street South. Perfect for those who don't want to be mobbed by a pile of screaming five year olds. The rest of the shop (entrance off Conway Square) is currently a mish-mash of sale items - women's on the left hand side, men's on the right. With customers and staff scuttling everywhere, I didn't get a great look at the shoes, but there really is a huge choice - everything from Ecco to Irregular Choice for the ladies, and everything from to Kickers to Wrangler for the men. I'll be back on a slightly less mad day, I told myself. As with most shoes shops, you have your insoles, balsams, polishes and the like, and I've often popped into Cordners for a pair of £1.99 insoles. I seem to be one of those people who try a pair of shoes on in the shop, they fit perfectly, and then I go home, and they're suddenly too big. Most annoying thing. Cordners has thus been something of a life saver for me in terms of shoes fitting properly. Perhaps avoid Cordners for a few weeks 'til the kids go back to school (unless that's your reason for going), and you'll find a range of good quality, reasonably priced shoes. What could be better?

My toddler was taken to the Newtownards store to have a pair of shoes fitted. After developing an…read moreextremely painful ingrown toenails, I had to take her to a podiatrist who told me that the shoes were too tight fitting. My 2 & 1/2 year old needed part of her toenail removed with a scalpel. She was in a great deal of pain & distress. She also required an antibiotic to deal with infection. The podiatrist a foot expert Informed me that the shoes were not appropriate & in fact too small, this was just 8 weeks after purchase from store, this visit to the podiatrist cost £45. When I visited the store for a refund I was met with a arrogant & aggressive employee who did not sympathise in any shape or form. Point blank refused a refund, also wouldn't accept any responsibility. So I have been left out of pocket for a child's pair of trainers that cost £35. A podiatry fee of £45 & have had the added distress of seeing my daughter distraught. From what I can tell these people don't care a jot about children's feet or their welfare. Avoid at all cost.

If I were an 80 year old looking for a nice pair of pink slippers with yellow flowers on and a nice sturdy heel I might call in here. If I were 6 and I fancied a pair of pink round toe fairy shoes I might call in here. If I were 60 and i needed a good solid shoe to wear about the shops and the house then I might cal in here. Don't expect anything that is expensive or of any great standard. Expect shoes that are either very old fashioned, never in fashion, for children or wellies and that's it. Not my kind of place but if you need a cheap shoe with no glitz or glamour who might find it here.

The handbags are also very highly priced and personally not even that nice. I know that taste is subjective but price isn't and who can afford to pay £150 for a handbag in this climate? A lot of the brands they stock can be found cheaper in TKMaxx therefore if I want an unusual pair of Rocket dogs, for example, I might go there first. They also sell jewelry, which is also priced rather highly at some pieces costing £50 and not really looking like they should. They do stock Fit Flops which is a good find as I struggled to find them anywhere else in the town. I notice they have just bought in EMU brand boots too, which I quite like but can also be found for a cheaper price in TKMaxx (if you are lucky!) One last thing, if a pair of shoes costs £99 one day then £89 the next does that mean they deserve to no longer sit nicely in a little area of their own but have to now lay in among all the other shoes in what frankly I would refer to as a heap? If you have money go here and have a look. They do do a range of shoes to suit young and old - I'm just cynical about the prices.

So many shoe shops stock shoes which only appeal to a certain generation, so its extremely refreshing to find such a fab range in Moda, and the shoes really are generally very nice. Having popped in to take a peak at the sale a couple of days ago, I was delighted to discover huge discounts on nearly all shoes, and attempted to dive in and find a few bargains. Unfortunately, three ladies and a buggy were in my way and would not move. Nope, not even an inch. For a good ten minutes, I hovered, I coughed, I dodged...and still the chin-wagging continued. No movement, but plenty of chat. Grrr, frustration. No shoes bargains to be had, unfortunately, although that was quite possibly for the better. I'll be back!

There are plenty of brightly coloured, highly written on t-shirts, shirts and jumpers in here for the man who wants to look like everyone else. They do also stock ladies wear although there are only a few pieces in tiny sizes and only suitable for the girl who dares to bare. The shoes are also either over priced flip-flops or towering platforms - nothing sensible really in clothing or shoe ware. I suppose a good place to take a teenager to get trendy clothing but mind your wallet as it is expensive.

When she went into a few other shops that afternoon I decided to wait outside and mind the pram but when she mentioned Clarks I thought I would join her because this place is full of childhood nostalgia for me. It reminds me of those back to school days before when you spent your school days with your head in the toy box rather than the text book. Anyway on entry we were immediately greeted by the helpful shop assistant who asked were the shoes for my little niece, when my sister confirmed her suspicion she offered to get all the shoes they had out for her. She even offered helpful advice on which ones would be best for her tiny wee feet. The best thing about her advice is that it was honest, she was not trying to push a sale, she was just providing us with her own personal experiences in relation to each shoe. Absolutely perfect. Although my sister did not purchase any of the shoes she was shown she commented on the warmth of the shop assistant and the knowledge she had. All in all Clarks a must visit for anyone who wants to get their little one a pair of shoes or trainers, they will provide helpful advice and will even measure your child's feet.

This shop caters for the perceived popular majority providing "hip" clothes for the 21st Century. Or that is what they would like you to think. This place is just the same as the rest of the High Street shops, over priced tat, sold at extortionate prices for what it is. If you like fluorescent trainers than you should go into Blue Inc. I can sum this place up in one simple phrase; Loud shirts, shocking (That could easily have been an expletive) shoes. The staff are helpful and friendly but the store layout is not great, things are too close together and there is very little space to manoeuvre through the ghastly clothes, you will spend more time picking clothes up off the ground than the rails, fact.
