Either you may find the place handy ( especially if you want to kill time while waiting for your departure) or a bad suggestion if plan is to meet a date. It has the whole second floor of fast food dining options. You will see different kind of retail stores on its ground floor. Anything that you may need for your travel (out of emergency situation) can be found here. We came in here ( a walk from our hotel)as my sis -in law had rushes due to an allergic reaction and me for a replacement for the lost prescribed eye glasses reasons. We were able to see a pharmacy store that served to both our needs. Like a typical commuter station center, it also offers services like massage in a chair service, shoe shines service, flowers , etc. Only one thing that turned me off about this place, I did not like that I need to pay a coin to get into their restrooms.

Not everything was within budget, but they're clearance rack was super. I walked away with the best shoes I've ever seen for a fiver. Patent leather and Spanish made (ironic because I thought this was the Italian Footwear Company) and so damn cool. The winning shoes are unusual - black and yellow with good heel support. Pointy toes and a zebra-esque layering of leather that culminates in a batman meets Austin Powers kind of look. The sales lady was quite nice and complimented something I was wearing. I can't remember what, but it was flattering. I'd definitely go back for seconds here.

Don't be put off by the title: this no-frills shop sells classic, timeless styles (think Brogues and Oxfords) by some top quality brands, such as Loake, as well as workwear, including Dr Martens (though I personally think the quality of 'docs' has gone down-hill of late - don't worry, that have other brands). The shoes aren't seconds either, so the discount is genuine. Strutton Ground itself is always worth a look - it's an odd survivor, with the feel of a small, slightly down-at-heel town centre street, right off busy Victoria Street. It's the perfect shop to waist some time in while your waiting for friends at the station. Now don't expect anything too special, you have your regular department brands like the Arcadia group but you also get Dune shoes, fabulous make up counters, various other smaller designers as well as Helen W's favourite, Jane Norman. Seriously, I can't leave her in her without he coming out with bags full of new outfits. They also have an extensive home department upstairs with rugs, bedding and quirky lamps. As you walk up the stairs to the upper floors they have lists of celebs born in the area and what street they lived on. it's all very cool, very Brixton. It's a lovely shopping experience and if you love high street brands totally worth the visit.

Seeing a shop with shoes in I was automatically pulled in by unseen wires. There is a wide range of shoes. Initially I thought these were full of flat sensible shoes but as I turned around low and behold there were higher trendy shoes, bags and also mens shoes. Having had a little wander round I was able to select a lovely pair of shoes (many complements when I wear them) for a bargain price (leather shoes in the sale at a good price). They have a great little collection of items from the home ware collection - coasters, table mats, candles and candle holders. The jewellery is costume jewellery, fun chunky necklaces and little bracelets and earrings. The clothes are just a selection again but I must say they do choose a good selection of dresses, cardigans and skirts.

I could see the logic in Accessorize, Tie Rack, even TM Lewin, but an actual, proper, honest to goodness clothes shop? Hmm. Oh me of little faith. I'm sure I'm not the only person who hoves through Waterloo not so much as a shortcut, but as a stop off on the way from tube or train to bus or taxi home. There, the siren call of shiny things is guaranteed to lure me in. There's a heavy emphasis on party wear that I've never been quite able to work out. I mean, if you're catching a train to a party, you're either wearing what you're going in, or taking it with you, aren't you? The only time the store can (and does) irritate is if you've got three or four people in there with large suitcases. I once asked the security guard if he would watch my case while I just went the other side of a rail (constantly in his full view, I just didn't want to block the aisle!), and was met with a basilisk stare and silence. I took that as a no. By sharp contrast, the till and floor staff are some of the nicest you'll find in a Monsoon anywhere.
