I love the the way that the stock changes all the time and that you can always find a bargain, whether it is a pair of shoes, a handbag or a new throw for the couch. The different depatments include womens, cildrens and menswear. Although they do homewares and often small items of furniture aswell. I love to look at the children's toys although the range can be quite limited in our store and I have seen better in other towns. The fitting room are huge although I am not keen on the doors which seem to be quite small with a huge gap at the bottom not good if you bend down to far. I only realised yesterday that our store stocks children's bedding in particular baby sleeping bags which I wish I has known before I had bought my daughter a new one last week. I also love the range of photo albums that they always stock and can't resist coming away without one everytime I am here. They are definitely at least half the price of any equivalent shop elsewhere in town. I would defintiely recommend visiting here if you have at least an hour to kill and everyone loves a bargain.

I recently got a pair of gorgeous boots from here for £5 which was fantastic and they are really comfortable and good quality. They also sell mens workwear boots with steel toecaps and at a much cheaper price than the specialist shops although just by looking at the shop you wouldn't think this as it just comes across as a ladies shoe shop. They also sell slippers for a couple of pounds which is great for me as I go through pairs so quickly and am often replacing them. The childrens shoe range is quite limited but still worth a look for a pair of cheap playing out trainers. The staff are really friendly although they do tend to leave you alone to look and if you want a certain size you have to go and ask for it.

Apart from that I have never had a problem with any other item from here. They stock childrens, mens and womens clothes including shoes all at really low prices, and if there is a sale on then it is even better. The lingerie is a particular fave of mine as there is always an offer on the knickers where you get three pairs for a fiver. You do need a Matalan card to make a purchase but you can sign up for free in the store and they often have member only offers aswell such as two tops for £6 which was on recently. I adore the Homeware section as they stock everything from gorgeous prints to cheap tea towels and most of my kitchen accessories are from here. They are always right on trend with their colours and patterns. The bedding is really good and I am still using a duvet set which I bought from here five years ago and it looks as good as new. There can quite often be quite a queue but it does move quickly and the staff are always happy to help. If you can't find a certain size they will go and have a look in the back for you and more often than not do come back with it.

Be careful when you park not to leave your car after going to Matalan and nip into town. I got fined for doing that; they've changed the rules recently. Silly really, I've never seen that car park anywhere near full.

Upstairs there is a salon where you can have your nails done and also your hair. It really is a fantastic concept and the prices are really competitive aswell. You can also get accessories such as shoes, veils and tiaras and I really don't know why you would need to go anywhere else. The staff are very patient and accommodating and very good at suggesting a dress that will suit your shape really well.

I loved this street and indoor shopping malls, as it is boasts a wide range of stores, which are suitable for me, and I have visited this shopping area nearly too often, and do enjoy browsing through, even they have a great car park area all over the carlisle area. Even there are many great restaurants, cafes, shops, bookstores, clothes stores, mobile phone stores, and everything else. I feels like I can be able to get everything in these streets. Once time my sister have came over to Carlisle to stay with me, and we went out for a day worth of shopping experience, and my sister originally thought it would be rubbish day, but she was amazed on how great the town are, and offers loads of things, and she was overly impressed with the location, and everything else, as it is quite near to the train station, bus stations, and even near to the car parks. She said that she would definitely come back there again. so after a month or so she came back with pocketful of cash! For a shopping experience, I would recommend you come during the good weather, as it is open roofed on the Scotch and English Streets. But if it is raining, and you can go in the glass roof topped mall in the Lanes Centre. It is very conveniently placed and totally near to everything else! Even near to the park, and near to the River Eden, and near to the nightlife as well!

I totally love the Pineapple sportswear and Oasis is fantastic although the outlet is a little small with a limited amount of their clothing. They do a nice range of Wedding dresses which are a lot cheaper than the boutiques and you can buy them off the peg. I also really like their bridesmaid dresses which are great quality. The shop is spread over three floors which are all really accessible with the escalators and there are lifts aswell. The range of perfumes and beauty products is huge and there are often some great batgains on the box sets. I also really like the childrenswear and in particular the Junior J range by Jasper Conran. It seems to wash really well which is great when you have a toddler. The menswear is on the bottom floor and stocks a lot of designer labels and also some surprises such as Cragghoppers which I only noticed the other day. Their Homewares section is really big and again includes items from the designers, although it does seem to be quite expensive and you are paying for the name. The cafe is huge and overlooks the castle which is a really nice view. In store there is also a wedding list service and a free personal shopping service. There are also some toilets located next to the cafe which are always really clean.
