This is what my niece and her mother experienced. My niece is half Guatemalan and her mom is full Guatemalan:
I have never really understood how people felt to be discriminated against until today. Today while shopping for shoes with my mom we walk into Shoe Show and immediately walking through the doors without any explanation the lady took our bag out of my hand and said she would put it behind the counter and we would be able to get it on our way out. While looking throughout the store we were continuously followed, especially my mom. Out of all the boxes of shoes we put back the lady checked all of them. There were many other people in the store doing the same and not once did she follow them or check their boxes they put back. Except for the ones my mom touched. My mom walked away to keep looking and the worker left to follow my mom throughout the store. Eventually we just bought what we had in our hands and left. People shouldn't have to feel uncomfortable or guilty while shopping just because of the way they look. Personally,
I noticed how much it affected my mom and it wasn't appreciated by either of us. People should ultimately be more compassionate towards each other.
