"Cobbler" has to be among the greatest words in the English language. It rolls of the tongue effortlessly, sounds vaguely comical, and is the title of a valuable profession which is sadly under-represented in the modern day.
Whilst I only have experience of Holmlea Road Shoe Repairs from a visit with E-Bot to repair what is referred to as her "fancy shoes", it was enough to confirm to me that this kind of business was what made Britain great all those years ago. Organised chaos, and a wonderfully eccentric old cobbler who gave E a stern lecture for not looking after her footwear properly.
