Rupsha are not stingy. The food was also delicious. I have built up a pretty good idea of what to expect from curry houses in this area of Bristol by eating a lot of curry and always ordering the same dish, but my Pathia was actually spicy (which is all too rare), full of flavour and texture - I say that because of the watery bland one I had elsewhere last week. The food was beautifully presented and not-at-all greasy - particularly the onion bhajis, which were some of the best I've had. The service was great too, warm and friendly. I think this new restaurant will be very popular in Clifton and deservedly so.

Shaltimar Balti is quite a dated Indian on Cheltenham Road (just down from the Arches and…read moreGloucester Road). It's a restaurant that I have probably walked past 100's of times and never known it to be there. That is probably due to the faded exterior and the fact that there is literally dozens of these places in the area so I guess I kind of ignore them. Inside the dated look is still maintained, but the service is with a smile and on time. The most handy thing is that they do takeaway and free delivery, however I find their prices and quality of food is worse off than Asian Spicy just down the road to them. To be honest, I think that this place really needs a revamp and needs to advertise it as something different as there is far too many Indian's looking and tasting the same in a small radius. It's nothing amazingly special, but then again it's not bad. Just down the middle of the road really.

Found tucked away just off power station hill, the Cinnamon Tree is a hidden treasure. Offering a…read morewide array of Indian cuisine, this restaurant is by far one of the best in the area. With its neatly decorated interior and appropriate Indian soundtrack, the Cinnamon Tree attempts to create as authentic an Indian experience as possible, and more often than not succeeds. Dishes range from standard meals such as chicken tikka to the far more exotic like of the tandoori ostrich. There is also a choice of set menu deals for those looking to enjoy a fine, Indian meal for a more reasonable price. A superb Indian restaurant, that offers a range of unique tastes and flavours. Definitely one for the 'to do' list.

It's refreshingly brilliant! From the outside, Chai Shai is beautiful; dark and deep blue painted walls with a wooden sign really set it apart from its neighbors. They also have the nicest logo and typography I've seen in a long time. I really love their branding. The restaurant looks tiny from the curb, and it is, but it looks really welcoming. They have 3 wooden plant pots just under the window with some herbs and spices in them. Inside has two tables and a well stocked open glass fridge with all of their pakoras and samosas. The smell is so good as you enter I couldn't wait to tuck in! I was there for lunch and had the lunch box meal. It came with a really nice spiced rice, a chick pea curry, samosa and a pakora. The rice was perfect. It had just enough flavour without over powering the chick peak curry - which was also beautiful! I'd normally always go for a meat dish, but it wasn't an option. But I wasn't fussed while I was tucking in. It was spicy enough to take a break every now and again, but so tasty I couldn't stop eating. The samosa and pakoras were both fantastic and you can tell these guys have A LOT of practice in making them. I spoke to the owners for a while and their passion for Bristol and for giving something back to the community was inspiring. They were a lovely couple to chat to. They've only be open for 12 weeks and with their love for cooking amazing food and their love for Bristol, they're sure to do well. Definitely one of my favourite eating experiences in Bristol for a while. I can't wait to go back!

Like most of the businesses on St Marks Road, Eastern Taste has been around for a long time. Over…read morethe years it has built up a sturdy reputation, and so can get quite busy on any night of the week. It's better to book rather than chance it. It offers a broad range of North India and Bangladeshi food and consequently lots of dhal and paneer dishes for the vegetarians as well as plenty of great meat options too. The menu is pretty static, which means that you can go back for your favourite meal without running the risk of being disappointed. Being small, it's unsurprisingly unlicensed, but offers a good range of non-alcoholic beverages. If you prefer to bring your own there's a small corkage charge. The décor is adequate and traditional with low lighting preferred (something I personally don't like about a lot of old-school Indian restaurants as I don't see well in dimly lit conditions). But this is the only thing that detracts from an otherwise pretty faultless dining experience. If it's a low key environment with fantastic food at really reasonable prices, then Eastern Taste cannot be beaten.

The overall experience and customer care was first-rate. My advice to having the best experience is to discuss the menu with the waiter and always add a restaurant choice of something you have never had before, we had a king prawn dish for starter on their recommendation and the Misbah went out there way to make sure everything was first class. I highly recommend a visit to Misbah and I look forward to going again and again.
