They wouldn't allow us to bring our basically lifeless dog into the clinic and asked us to wait in the car. We waited for almost 30 minutes without any word or sign of help even after going back inside to ask when they were coming out. We left and drove to the Animal Emergency Center of Tulsa at 41st and Mingo and were seen immediately and received the best care. Don't bother with SAHO

A Heartbreaking End Made Worse by SAHO Animal Hospital's Lack of Compassion…read moreAfter years of taking our dogs to SAHO Animal Hospital in Owasso, we've sadly reached the point where we can no longer recommend them--and feel compelled to warn other pet owners. Yesterday, our beloved boxer Cooper, just nine years old, was suffering and in visible distress. We called SAHO seeking immediate assistance for euthanasia, something no pet owner ever wants to face. Despite being longtime clients, we were coldly informed by the receptionist, Molly, that without an appointment we would have to wait in our car for over three hours for a room to become available. Three hours--while our dog was suffering. SAHO has an extensive facility with plenty of space, including resort-style kennels for boarding, yet only one dedicated euthanasia room. There was no flexibility, no empathy, no urgency--only repeated reminders that we "didn't have an appointment" and would be charged emergency rates. The lack of basic compassion during what was clearly an end-of-life crisis was both shocking and devastating. Thankfully, VCA Owasso Animal Medical Center--where we are not even regular clients--offered immediate help. They welcomed us without hesitation despite being overwhelmed the day after Memorial Day. Sadly, Cooper passed away in our car just as we arrived, but the VCA team handled his passing with dignity, care, and grace. They made a heartbreaking moment bearable, and for that, we are deeply grateful. This was not the first time SAHO disappointed us. During a 10-day trip, we boarded both Cooper and our French bulldog, Rowley, in SAHO'S higher-end "resort" kennels. When we picked them up--after paying for grooming--we were shocked to find a large, inflamed gash on Cooper's right foot. This was a wound that had developed during his stay, not prior. It was fresh, obvious, and distressing. Yet no one informed us. No one took responsibility. And despite being groomed before pickup, no one noticed--or said anything--about a painful, visible injury. That incident, while frustrating, didn't drive us away. But this most recent experience--denied dignity in Cooper's final moments--is the final straw. Veterinary care is about more than facilities and procedures. It's about compassion, especially during life's most difficult moments. Unfortunately, SAHO has failed us in this fundamental responsibility. We strongly urge other pet owners to consider how their beloved companions might be treated in a moment of crisis. In our case, SAHO Animal Hospital was not there when we needed them most. Thankfully, VCA Owasso was. NOTE: This is a no STAR rating but I had to choose one NOT 3!!!

Seven months ago we acquired a new female Boston Terrier who accidentally got pregnant. I took her to Dr. Gatlin because I trusted her and my little girl was throwing up for what I thought was no apparent reason. Dr. Gatlin scared me to death and almost caused me to have a panic attack. She told me she wasn't pregnant but had an infection and needed to be spayed immediately. I asked for an ultrasound which showed she was in fact pregnant. There was no apology for scaring me. Then she prescribed a drug for the vomiting that was made for humans. She said it was ok for my dog but she didn't know if it would harm the puppies. I paid the $35.00 for the drug. When I got home I promptly flushed them. Then a few hours later I learned all my dog needed was a $1.50 bottle of Peptobismol which was safe for my dog and her babies. Additionally that it was normal behavior to throw up prior to delivery. You would think a vet would know that. Two days later Dr. Gatlin finally decided to check on her patient. TWO DAYS LATER! Out of curiosity I asked if my dog went into labor in the middle of the night and had problems would she be available? She told me to take her to vet open 24 hours. Never mind that the vet is at least 30 minutes from where I live. In thirty minutes time it's likely mom and babies would all be dead. Dr. Gatlin I used to think you were an incredible vet that I could trust with the lives of my fur babies. NOW I think you're burnt out and should retire. I am so incredibly disappointed.

When my cat was diagnosed with diabetes, I was overwhelmed and nervous, but Dr. Powell guided us through every step with compassion, patience, and expertise. From the initial diagnosis to setting up the insulin treatment plan, they made sure I understood how to care for my cat at home and answered all of my questions with genuine concern. Thanks to their attentive care, my cat is so much more comfortable. I truly trust them with my pet's health and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate veterinarian.

We've been through some pretty serious health crises with her. I can't rave enough about the service and caring here (and Dr. Diane)! We had to leave an acutely ill cat with the clinic while we went on vacation one year. (Believe me, this was not the plan.) When we left, we didn't know how ill she was but basically did not want to leave her alone or in anyone else's responsibility. Dr. Diane called us daily with updates and honesty (never crassness as mentioned in a few reviews). Luckily, this had a happy ending and with Dr. Diane's care, our cat pulled through. More recently, we're dealing with another serious health crisis and they were able to work us in (I'm sure on Dr. Diane's lunch hour). Again, honesty and sensitivity were the norm. She laid out three plans for us and gave us plenty of time to discuss in private. They've already called today to see how we're doing. I would totally recommend Eastside without any hesitation.
