Wow. Where to begin. My job was to refinish about 1500 sq feet of previously laid engineered wood…read moreand lay 1500 feet new oak flooring and then to sand/stain it all, including stairs and bannister. While initially being impressed with Wakefield's sales pitch and promo, his actual work and his crew leave much to be desired. The least issue was the job went from 2-3 weeks to nearly one month, during which the whole time we were forced to vacate the house. But from day 1, the installation crew, whom are all temporary hourly workers, were unprofessional, slow and extremely messy and dirty, both in their work and the manner in which they cared for my house (leaving exterior doors wide open, food and drinks all over and mess in bathroom). It took them over 2 weeks just to simply put in the floor and then they rushed through the finishing, the sanding and staining. The sanding is very uneven, mainly rough all over with some smooth patches, they left sand swirls in the wood and left worn through patches throughout the flooring despite having a ton of excess new wood that they took back with them. When the staining was getting done( they stained and finished polyurethaning in 1 week flat) they complained that the earlier delay was our fault so now the rushed through. The owner advised us that staining the floors, stairs and bannister is like 'artwork'. He neglected to tell us, his art is more abstract than real. They got more stain on the white walls, steps, bannister, and spindles than they did on the floor. There are green??? Spots in the stain, there are splotches of stain all over and there are stain drips all along the edges. While I will and honestly admit that overall the floors do look better than the yellowed wood floors that they started with, it became readily apparent that Wakefield flooring were not prepared to undertake a 3000 square foot job and in any event are not the professional wood flooring company they want to portray but rather a rag tag group of day workers, claiming to be 'artists'.

He took his time and did everything the right way from start to finish. On the first day, he washed the home. The next day, he carefully fixed all the cracks. Then he painted on the third and fourth day, and the results were amazing. I could tell he put real care, pride, and quality into every part of the job. I called again and spoke to Larry and he told me the quote would cost $100 and if I needed verification that he had liability insurance, his insurance company would charge him $100 to provide a copy of the certificate of insurance. I spend my days hiring subcontractors all over America to do maintenance work on retail clothing stores and I have NEVER seen an insurance company charge for a copy of an insurance certificate. This company is shady and I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere.

Unfortunately I told him NO that that wouldn't work as I had openings where windows were removed and I didn't want the rain to come in. He then responded ok can I come later after 2:00?? Anxious and needing it done quickly I said yes that works. Went back to work and came back close to 2:00 and this time I didn't even get a text or any communication as to why he was a no show??? I had to reach out that evening when I realized he wasn't coming and once again he rescheduled. He finally showed up and spoke with my contractor and said he'd have an estimate right away, next day. Once again the guy dropped off the face of the earth and even after texting him countless times he has NEVER responded!! And his cleaning was also much more thorough than the steam cleaning that was done when we first moved in. Now he's filling over 50 holes and cracks we have in our travertine stone tile floor. His workmanship and positive attitude are exemplary. And the value he provides for his modest fees is incredible. He's done a great deal of work for my church and other people I know.
