Their musicality, preparation, repertoire, professionalism and attention to detail was impressive. AND, they were so kind to boot! They learned The Ländler Dance from The Sound of Music especially for the couple's first dance and it sounded exquisite. FYI - I am a lifelong amateur church musician and am extremely particular when it comes to live performances - and the HHSQ far exceeded my expectations. If I could give you 10 stars I would! The staff was friendly and laid back while still maintaining a respectful air of professionalism. When I had questions they were answered concisely, and my options laid out comprehensively. I thought the studio itself was very nice and the room sounded good. There were plenty of mics and preamps to choose from, and a lot of great vintage gear too. To summarize my opinion of river city studios as somebody who's worked in the industry as an audio engineer and a studio musician, these guys know their stuff, get the job done for a fair price, and above all they make the session a fun one. I will absolutely be returning to this business in the future and I would recommend them to anyone.

I had to take my stuff to another place and have it all remixed as well as re-recording a few parts that they didn't catch initially. The guy I had rework it was phenomenal, much faster, knew EVERYTHING about his job, and was extremely friendly (with great ears!). I won't post his name in a River City review, but I'll tell you, shop somewhere else!

My journey within 6 months became concerning, to say the least. No sense into going into chapter and verse here, but for especially those who know me as a neighbor, educator, psychiatric practice clinician, musician, author and composer. Safe to say, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! What adds injury to insult, resulting in stagnation for me as a regarded composer. The complete absence of active security within the studios and the absence of business policies that protect the customers, like me, from any and all transgressions. Frankly, pathetic. About time, this Chapter One is shared......Stay tuned, my experience is still be analyzed.

I was able to negotiate the price for the group we had and booking was easy. On the day of, our driver was about 20 minutes later than the scheduled pickup time. Once we were on the bus and on the highway, we realized one window was cracked and was not sealed around the edges. At one of the rest stops, I pointed this out to our driver, Scott. He said he would stop and get something to fix it. Because it was so cold, we ended up "fixing" it ourselves with what we had - Meijer bags and paper towels - to keep the cold air from coming in. Prior to doing this, everyone was freezing and it was almost unbearable. The other issue was that he did not have the main door latched all the way, so there was cold air from the front and back of the bus. We were able to fix the window enough that allowed us all to be comfortable and still enjoy our time. Though he was late, we made it to where we needed to be in time. Everyone had a great time and Scott was very nice! It was just a little frustrating in the beginning because you are paying quite a bit of money for something.
