Ron and I spent the day visiting four covered bridges near Scio, Oregon. I am rather ashamed to say that while I attended school relatively nearby (Western Oregon in Monmouth, Oregon), I have never seen them. Ron is a transplant from California, but grew up in the area and has been to visit them since childhood. I am definitely more educated tonight about my state's history and at how beautiful those structures are to see. My favorite bridge to see today was the Gallon Home Bridge. Built in 1916, white lightning was sold there during prohibition in gallon jugs. Oh the stories those timbers could tell!
