I have an F250 that was profusely leaking oil and wouldn't start. I towed the vehicle down to this shop to be looked at. I get a call a few days later and I'm told that there were 10 gallons of oil drained out of the engine and that it sounded like it was about to throw a rod when they started it up. I was advised that putting in a new engine was the only option to fix it. I came to pick up the truck and couldn't get it to start, even though I was told it had started just fine once the "excess" oil was drained. This all sounded pretty sus considering the pickup hadn't started in over 2 months and it wouldn't even hold oil (no oil was registering on the dipstick and any oil put into it immediately drained out on the ground). I decided that it was in my best interest to get a second opinion, so I had it towed down to Diesel Xtreme. A few days later it was diagnosed as needing a high pressure fuel pump replacement. Once the part was in, Diesel Xtreme put it in, fired the truck right up, and test drove it to make sure everything was running well. This repair is known to be an expensive problem to fix, but it was FAR less than the $15,000 I was quoted for a new engine. Perhaps this a decent shop for gas vehicles, but clearly they had no idea what they were talking about for a diesel pickup. I also find it fishy that I was lied to about getting the vehicle to start. After talking to the mechanic at Diesel Xtreme, it's pretty clear that the truck hadn't been started at all considering it couldn't even build enough pressure to start. Steer clear if you're needing work done on a diesel. read more
