The 'box' or the gym is a bit smaller than the one i'm used to, but it worked out for the class size I was with. For anyone unfamiliar with Crossfit, the basic idea (which is right on the name) is that you are training across various disciplines/exercises (cardio, strength, balance, functional movement, etc...). It means there's always a challenge and even a weakness you may have to address. But if you stick with it, it leaves you in better shape and performing at a level you may not have believed you could reach. This CrossFit location was very welcoming from both staff and members. To my benefit (or at my expense) we were doing two exercises which were either new (rope climb) or difficult for me (double under skipping). The coach (Terri-Lyn) did a great job in encouraging everyone to attempt the rope climb, even if some (like myself) were tempted to opt for an alternate exercise. Everyone was also receiving coaching for the double unders too - and that's another huge benefit of CrossFit and what this location achieves, is the coaching. It was a great visit, and I'll be sure to return if I'm back in the area. Anyone who's looking to radically improve their fitness, and do it in a place where you receive coaching and encouragement should certainly check this place out.

TAC is located in a small plaza next to a McDonalds (ironic I know), and looks deceivingly small from the outside. Upon entering you have to swipe your membership card at the front desk. They have a co-ed weight room right next to the front desk and a women's only cardio and weight area towards the back. The women's weight area is huge. Every time I've been it's been nearly empty, which is great if you need certain machines. They also have boxing bags and mitts, which I'm a huge fan of. They also have separate areas for classes -- a spin room, yoga room and aerobics room. Their locker rooms are clean, with full changing rooms, showers, lockers and towels. They also have a hair dryer and hair products if you need them. You'll need to bring your own lock or you can leave your stuff in a locker lock-less, I just wouldn't leave anything valuable in there. They have everything I need here all for $35/month (classes are additional). I'm a happy camper. If you're looking for a decently priced gym with great classes, come to TAC.

Rewind back to November; a friend had given me a pass for TAC that was good until February 12th. When I was in the gym January 21st; and I tried to inquire about a membership; Marie (club manager) told me that "you must sign up right now for the best possible deal" and all that crap. If the price was so special then why did my sister pay the same price a year ago? When I signed up, I had to pay 69$ (the first and last month of the contract and a service charge), I was told that I wouldnt be charged for the month of February until my current trial membership had expired. Well low and behold, on the 1st of february I was charged another 74$, so livid, I went into the club to speak with them. I ended my contract after arguement (being that I am 18 I cannot be legally bound to a contract), I was then told I would not be refunded due to the fact I was outside of their 14 day grace period (by 2 days). I have emailed their corporate, and their corporate contact persons and not one person has bothered to respond. They have peeved quite a few other residents too. I would not reccomend going here, unless you want to be grossly overcharged and treated like crap.

Signing up for a membership was super easy. I walked in and within 15 minutes I was able to sign up. If you want to do group classes, use your membership at other locations, or use the tanning beds, you have to upgrade your membership to *gasp* $26/month. Still a really good deal. But since I don't need any of those other benefits, I just have the basic plan. Club 16 has everything I need - weights, machines, rollers, water bottle fill stations and more. This location also has a large SheFit (women's only) working area, which I like to go to because it tends to be less busy during the times I come in. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. There's always a ton of staff working from what I've seen so there is always someone to answer any questions you have. With this gym being less than a 10 min walk and less than a 3 min drive from my house, I have no excuse to get my ass to the gym. Thank you Club 16!

I was visiting Richmond and hoping to establish a new second home gym. FWIW my home gym in Virginia…read morehas been open for only 6 months at the time of this writing, so I'm comparing this branch to a relatively new gym. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised with how much equipment there was at this branch. There were 4 squat racks in the back area with free weights up to 100lbs and three benches. The usual machines round out the middle of the gym, with ellipticals, stair masters, and treadmills against the far window. A small Astro turf area + a studio filled out the rest of the area. On the Sunday afternoon that I was here, there were 5-7 people in the gym at any one time, and everyone had more than enough room to operate on their own. There was a nice speaker system blasting some standard radio music, and a few mounted TVs showing some sports. None of the equipment looks worse for wear, and everything was really clean. I'm not sure how long this branch has been open, but it looks as if it couldn't be more than a few months old. There was a small locker space with lockers (they provide keys for each cabinet) which was really nice. There's a private parking lot that as far as I can tell, services a moderately busy small shopping center. Overall, well worth the trip and definitely worth considering as a second home.

Jungle gym was actually highly recommended to us by a friend who raved about how friendly the other lifters were and how it was just a solid place to train and he wasn't wrong. I had touched based with Romus the owner who was more than accommodating to our schedule and opened his doors to us with enthusiasm and kindness. The gym itself is small but has all the equipment you could possibly think of and need to train as a strongman or a powerlifter. It has that warehouse "here to put the work in" but still have a good time vibe to it. I would highly recommend Jungle gym to anyone looking for a place to train.
