Sherri Davis Johnson is such an angel in this city. I recently moved to Los Angeles from Canada, and when my intentions to finish my degree at USC were postponed, I had to look for healthcare elsewhere. In Canada, everything is covered by the government, and I had never lived in the States besides my three years at USC (before taking a medical leave of absence) where I also had coverage through the university. So I suddenly found myself like a fish out of water, like, a trillion miles from any lake, river, ocean. Because Medi-Cal ended up being a TOTAL AND COMPLETE disaster. It has seriously been ruining my life in such a severe way that I've wanted to toss in the towel on this entire move to the States many, many times. But she is now helping me file a claim against Medi-Cal for not providing me anywhere in the REALM of decent healthcare, which will hopefully bring some justice to what has been one of the most heartbreaking, terrifying, and literally near-fatal experiences of my entire life. After I finally decided/realized I was going to have to pay for private insurance, she helped me understand the basics of what different insurance companies were options for me. She also explained the difference between the "bronze", "silver", and "gold" levels, pertaining to the difference in cost. She really just broke down everything so clearly and easily for me to understand, to someone who had been through hell and back just trying to get my head above water in A VERY BROKEN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.
