This review is overdue, but let me share my experience. First, my friend and I are both patients…read morethere, and on one particular appointment day, our appointments had a bit of an overlap. You will see this is a common theme at this office. It is a pure money-making play with appointments scheduled every 15 minutes, purposely overbooked, and each individual ailment requiring separate appointments. So make sure you only get sick one part at a time. Because that's how life works, right? But seriously, they'll find any reason possible to milk that insurance cow twice.
Back to my friend though. So I'm waiting in the back right corner of the office, getting my blood pressure taken, and I hear the doctor (Francisco) whispering about something with boyish excitement followed by giggles, but they didn't know I was there, so this is all within earshot. But I did make out a few acronyms and rather embarrassing ailment descriptions--all of which I know for a fact my friend suffers from--and they were laughing about it. It was cruel. And it had nothing to do with treatment. Indeed, a 3rd fluent language exists in that office: gossip.
This fact should not entirely be a shocker. Indeed, it is typical short man behavior, and Francisco is indeed a short man. Not a midget, but short enough to be self-conscious about it, clearly. Pushing others down to make themselves feel bigger. And it wasn't a one-off event. The air is filled with a symphony of whispers that I've never experienced in countless offices I've visited in the past. And the tone of the whispers--if that makes sense--along with the verbiage I overheard tells me that much of it has nothing to do with helping people. I've seen more restraint exercised by 7th graders in anatomy classes back home. But restraint seems to go out the window in the corner office of that decrepit building on floor 18. That juicy bit of gossip makes that juicy hit of dopamine too tempting to resist.
So if we want to gossip, let me say that--I'm not alone in this opinion. Even his own wife, and mother of his 3 children, is leaving the man. Low blow? Maybe, but how else do you knock Napoleon's hat off for once? I'm not a tarot card reader either, but something tells me it's not unrelated to that rebound nurse he hired in the wake of it. I've never heard her say a word, so she's just a bystander to the trainwreck, not the conductor. Leave that to not-so-much-a-saint Francisco.
Call me a Karen, but there's a bit too much of a cena familiar family dinner table-style "what crazy shit did your patients have today" atmosphere for me. To your face, he's nice and polite. But I've seen the knives come out when you're not looking. As for daddy doctor, I've never seen the man and got them confused forever (names almost identical, Fernando is the patriarch). So I won't comment on what I don't know. But as the saying goes, the sins of the fathers are visited upon the children, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's all in the family. Another kind of strange thing is that I've never seen another man working there. Rotating staff of new women, never a man that's not a Buenso, little fish in a little pond.
So if you care about your privacy, dignity, and hate to wait, I'd look elsewhere.
