After being left to wait over an hour in the waiting room without any contact from his Assistant, I finally got up to find out if I'd mistakenly been forgotten about. His Assistant informed me that he was "running late." (Something I had clearly deducted). When I inquired as to why no one had informed me either by phone prior to my appointment or, at the very least, while in the waiting room, that her was running that much behind schedule, she responded that the doctor would be "only another 10-15 minutes." Thirty minutes later, after no further response, I left the office. When I informed the Assistant that I was leaving and that I felt that the non-communication and the wait were completely unacceptable, her response to me was a flippant, "Ok. Thank you." I have never in my life been made to wait more than an hour and a half by a doctor - let alone an hour and a half without any communication - as though somehow my time was less important than his. I feel like I should be charging HIM for the two plus hours that I took away from my job and the $13.00 that I wasted on parking. Leaving patients to wait an hour and a half in the waiting room without any sort of apology or explanation is entirely unacceptable! If you value your time and being treated with respect, this is not the doctor for you!

I spoke with him about my symptoms and about things that were going on at that time in my life. I had a few EKG tests and I also did a running test, where they taped on all these electrodes onto my body while I ran on the treadmill. Even though I wasn't sure what was going on, Dr. Pelikan was able to put me at ease throughout the entire process by explaining what he was doing and why he was running certain tests. He also strapped on a contraption that I was to wear for a couple days so he could properly monitor my heart beats. He was very thorough and luckily, after all the tests, my heart is healthy! I would recommend Dr. Pelikan to anyone who is looking for a good cardiologist who actually cares about you and knows what they're doing.

He had me in for angiogram and, upon identifying a 95% blockage of one artery, inserted a cardiac stent in my heart. I was home a few hours later. A couple of days later I notified his office that I was experiencing some chest discomfort, and they immediately instructed me to go the the ER. The discomfort was probably anxiety driven and after an overnight stay, additional tests, and several in person visits from Dr. Pelikan (what doctor does that anymore?) I was released to continue my recovery. I have nothing but the highest regard for Dr. Pelikan and highly recommend him and his partners at the Pacific Heart Institute. The Doctors and their team of nurses and admins are professional, responsive, and easy to work with.

She is extremely competent, compassionate and just gets things done. And above all else she listens! The Department itself is just as competent and they are on it. I had to return the following day for bloodwork and a flu shot. I was in and out within 15 minutes. Barely had enough time to sit down to wait when they called me. Again, staff just wonderful! This is why UCLA is a premiere facility from top to bottom. Thanks to Dr. Hingorany and the entire team at UCLA Cardiology!

He was super informative and friendly, making the process go very smoothly. After the stickers were put on me, another nurse came in and I began the treadmill portion of the stress test. They both stayed in the room the entire time and she monitored the sheets of paper/graphs that were piling up as well as kept an eye on the screen to check my heart rate. She was very friendly and informative as well (great staff!) and talked me through certain things as they were printing out. They have a tv on the wall which shows a hiking trail to make it seem as if your walking or running on a mountain trail kinda like Peleton but not on a bike, obvi. I really liked the tv trail, it distracted me so I was able to run farther. 15 minutes later and I was done! They have an efficient set up and very easy going staff members which is ALWAYS a plus :) Ps. The only bummer about the visit... they don't validate for parking however! If you don't mind walking, you can park 2 blocks away in the residential area for free which is what I did. Make sure to read the signs so you don't end up with a ticket when you get back!
