I made the mistake of going with Shelton's Water for both a drinking water purification system and a water softener. This company is obviously in turmoil since it took over a month to have these systems installed in my home and every few days, I was dealing with a brand new employee since the previous employees that I had dealt with were no longer with the company. It was very concerning that the installers couldn't answer my questions and it was quite apparent that I knew more about water purification systems and whole home water softeners than the employees of Shelton's water. Every time I called their main office, I was treated as if I were inconveniencing the staff. The owner of the company doesn't take calls and his office manager is condescending and rude. I feel as if I paid 3 times the amount of money that I should have for these two water treatment systems for my home, and I certainly don't feel as if I can pick-up the phone and call Shelton's if I have any questions or problems with my home drinking and water softening systems. read more

My review on Google Maps was censored and suppressed. Hopefully, Yelp is not an accomplice to this sort of shady stuff. My Premier and K5 installations were managed by the sales rep Brenda approx 2 years ago. The installation was terrible, and while Brenda did bring all of my concerns back to the shop, we were at the mercy and discretion of the higher-ups within their org. Most of my concerns were ignored. Recently, the Big Blue filter with the top metal bracket finally gave in and fell off from the sheetrock. This brought back the nightmares, and I decided to re-do the plumbing myself once and for all. I thought that I should share this info with fellow consumers to raise awareness. The Kinetico system is expensive, and it is unfortunate that Kinetico adopts a territorial monopoly business model that prohibits competition from keeping quality and pricing in check. Kinetico HQ is generally unhelpful; if you have any problems, they'd typically refer you back to the local dealer, a catch-22 situation. This installation by Shelton's costed around $1200. The Big Blue was mounted directly onto the sheetrock using 1-inch screws. No studs were present behind, and even if, the screws would have been too short. I told the installer that he should install a backing onto which the bracket should go, but he refused, saying that it was going to be OK. He also refused to use a level to make sure that the bracket sat level and plumb. I offered to supply both items, but that apparently was not enough incentive. The brine tank overflow was not even routed. They claimed that an overflow would seldom happen, if at all. But if it does happen, it would drain out onto the floor and flood it. The PEX lines were routed into the attic as shown. This was some of the most ugly and unprofessional plumbing I had seen. I brought up the issue, and the installer just shrugged it off, saying that he forgot to take into account the added distance between the pipes due to the shutoff valve. Moreover, there was not a single piece of tape to hold the insulation together. The cracks only would get bigger over time. The drain line, not pictured here, went directly into the vent stack in the attic through a saddle drain. I do not care how many Texas plumbers may say that it is OK or that it meets some funky code minimum. This is a potable water system, and the drain line should always go to the drain stack through an AIR GAP. This is code in many states. It will make more sense as you continue to read below about the K5 installation in the kitchen. The K5 drain line was installed in a similar fashion where it went directly into the P-trap through a saddle drain. The photo shown here was the first installation where the tap point was actually below the waterline inside the P-trap. This meant that the K5 drain output was submersed in the drain waste. Major health hazard. I brought this up, and after some internal discussions that they had, they agreed to relocate the saddle drain. I asked for an air gap, but again was refused. The saddle drain was then moved up a few inches to the drain extension pipe (in white) below the waste disposal drain pipe (in black). Needless to say, over time, grime and gunk would build up at the intersection of the K5 drain line and the P-trap drain pipe. See the attached photo. Depending on how far the bacteria wants to travel back into the K5 drinking water system, your K5 is practically and technically contaminated. Major health hazard. As a matter of fact, I believe that an air gap requirement is indeed implied in Kinetico's official installation guide. Google it, and you will find it. As part of my re-do, I made sure that these drain lines would now go through an air gap before hitting the drains. I also added a pressure gauge to monitor the input pressure to the Premier to ensure specs compliance. Also more shutoff valves for more practical bypass options. For a Kinetico system that costs easily $10K, I really expect the technicals to be done correctly. Afterall, it is a potable water system that directly impacts our health. read more

We have been in our new home where water quality is very poor for 6 months. Our Kinetico K5 was installed right at the end of construction. We have used 2 bags of salt in the past 6 months and love the results of our treated water. I don't have a shop yet so another good thing about theK5 is the amount of space it takes up. Small footprint, big results! We also had the RO system installed and it's comforting to know that my family is protected from chlorine, bacteria and all the other junk in our our water. Great customer service and great products. We've had the works put into our home. We've installed the Home Softener, Chlorinator, UV, and RO system in our kitchen. Prior to purchase and installation, Will ensured that everything was understood as to the benefits of each part of our system. Everything was installed without a problem (Trey and Javier) and has worked as advertised. The folks that have come out for follow-up service (Kyle) have all been very knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. We used this company after being referred by a friend because their friend worked for this company. We met with Whitney and she assured us that they would get our home equipped with the best equipment that we needed. We just bought our home 4 months ago and it is a new build on 2.5 acres. We are on a well and have THE WORST rotten egg smell in our water. She ran a bunch of tests and told us that the system we purchased for $9000 would solve all our issues and provide us with the safest and cleanest water. Since then we have had nothing but problems. The company sent out techs that installed the equipment wrong in the first place. They ordered the wrong parts, and left us living with water we couldn't drink or even shower in. Finally it seemed like after weeks of dealing with people, everything was working smoothly but now all of a sudden the smell is back and it's so bad i cannot shower my children, wash dishes or even run the water in any sink for any amount of time without it filling the house up with the rotten egg fumes. My husband and i called a week ago before the recent ice storm we had to see if they could send a tech out because to me it was an urgent matter. We cannot live without water. This water is not safe and is testing at levels in the 1100's which are extremely harmful. My whole family has been sick for over 2 weeks and i feel like it has to do with the water and the potential harmful contamination. They keep brushing it off and saying they will get a tech to come out, and we have not had anyone call or come out. All they have done is instructed my husband to do a couple things and see if it helps and he has tried everything and still it continues to get worse. They are not urgent about it at all and at this point it's affecting our health. We have made numerous phone calls and I'm at a standstill and left feeling hopeless. I want all the equipment removed and my money back so we can move forward with a company that actually handles issues professionally and promptly. I have never dealt with such unprofessional people in my life. I would never recommend them to anyone!!! This company is a joke and should be ashamed of their unprofessional work! read more

After years of buying bottled water, we hired Shelton's to add a reverse osmosis system to our newly renovated kitchen in 2014. We now have great tasting water and ice, and have it connected to our ice maker too. We all now carry our water to work and school and prefer it over any bottled product. Shelton's service has been excellent through our installation and upkeep of our system. I highly recommend them. read more

Amazing product. Amazing service. We bought our non electric system to replace our electric system that broke down in a year. (Which the things that broke weren't covered in the supposed "lifetime warranty we were told we had.). Sheltons not only gave us a great system that's more water efficient.... They moved our unit to our new house when we moved and gave me great customer care. I will never own another system than Kinetico. They do exactly what they say will do. Previously we had a horrible experience with the company we worked with in another city so I was skeptical about hiring another water softener company. We ended up going with Shelton's Water since they specialize in Kinetikos'. Zachary and Mike came out to run piping and install the softener. Wow. What great customer service. They were wearing nice shirts (even though it's a dirty job), driving a nice company vehicle. Zachary was leading and he did a great job of explaining everything they were going to do. He was very courteous and you could tell legitimately cared about his job. He's been working with water softeners for many years. When I asked him how my old water softener even worked, he had no issues with explaining the inner components. Also, he said they might have to rip out a bush but they ended up working around it. Patty, the receptionist, is probably one of the most sweetest people I've ever talked to on the phone. Overall, I'm so happy we went with them and I have full trust in them. I didn't know the difference between good and bad water until I experienced this system by Sheltons Water. My Mom got it for me in my kitchen as my Birthday present in September because she was worried about the water I was drinking that came through the old pipes to/in my house - house built in 1937. Right away, I noticed a difference, and I know this is going to sound strange, but the big difference is that my drinking water doesn't taste like anything now. Before, it tasted heavy and like there was chlorine or other things in it. Now it's just pure! Best gift Mom could have gotten me! And the installation was professional and perfectly executed.
