A lot has changed apparently in the six years since the previous reviews of this Shell gas station…read more Instead of a repair garage, the building is now a convenience store only, part of the Seasons Corner Market chain (see my other review). Gas pumps are still under the Shell brand. The station is in a primo location for this type of business: the intersection at the entrance to Bonnet Shores, and surely they reap the benefit of traffic to and from Narragansett beaches. There are a decent number of gas pumps, and the parking lot is adequately sized. Everything appeared well maintained, and there are two bathrooms inside.

First time I took my car here to be inspected they put new wiper blades on without my permission…read morebecause they "thought I would like them"...new wipers were not necessary to pass the inspection, and they wanted to charge me $26 for them. I made them take the wiper blades off and fish my old ones - which were about a month old - out of the garbage...I think they were just upset that they couldn't find anything that "needed" repair. Two years later, and my husband - who is a mechanic, but his garage does not perform inspections - takes his car up there to be inspected. Of course, he checked his car out before hand to ensure it would pass. So he was a bit surprised when the guy told him it failed, because of "the smoke"...my husband asked, "You mean the exhaust?" guy's face lights up, "Yeah, the exhaust!" My husband says, "So you want to replace my catalytic converter?" It was like Christmas morning for this guy, "Yeah!" - probably becuase that is an $800 repair job. My husband took the car back to his garage, had his coworker check it out with him - nothing wrong with the catalytic converter or anything else. So my husband went up to the state garage, where they gave him a perfect report, and a new sticker - no issues at all. My theory?? They have been inspecting our cars for years, and have never made a dime off of us. They keep records of these things, so they know we have never had a repair there. I would stay away...never mind the fact that the gas there is a good 10 cents more than any other station in the area.

I stopped in quickly to use the ATM and was pleasantly surprised. I've gotten gas here a few times…read moresince moving to the area but had never gone inside. Wow. The space is large, bright, clean and really well stocked. I especially appreciated that the ATM is tucked off to the side, which made it feel a bit more private. For a quick stop, it made a great impression. I'll definitely be back.

I stop into this Cumbys frequently. The landscaping and the building is very well maintained. They…read moredid a really great job in the remodel. (I do miss DeAngelo's though.) They have a cute patio area to sit at to that is fairly clean. All the cashiers are really pleasant. They try to do a good job cleaning up the coffee bar area because let's face it the people of the community are slobs. They are always cleaning the floors and food area. When there is a line out the door they do call for backup cashiers to help out trying to get people in and out. Usually in the morning when I do go there, there is usually a gas truck filling the tanks. This blocks off of half of the parking lot. It is always jamming at this location so I do understand that they need to refill but I feel there needs to be a better time for this. Not when people are trying to get their 99 cent coffee and are in a rush to get to work. It sets a tone to their day. They need more parking but with the lot that's not feasible unless they bought the empty gas station next door. You can't beat their 99 cent coffee deal. They have good quick pick me ups for food. The taquito that I had there was probably the most disgusting thing I have ever encountered though. The breakfast sandwiches are made to order if you ask. They have good deals like buy this or that and get a free coffee, etc. and their are about a half dozen free coffee days at Cumbys.

Nice convenience store. Plenty of gas pumps, and easy in and out. Nice and clean on the inside,…read morewith plenty of space to move about. Prices a little higher than Cumbys, but they have big and double gulps.

While I wouldn't rate them 5 stars like the first reviewer did (way back in 2009, when the store…read morewas probably brand new), it's definitely a solid, 4-star gas station/convenience store. And yes, it is convenient, in many aspects: It boasts plenty of gas pumps, and a huge parking lot with two entrances/exits. It's on a less-busy section of Route 1, so pulling out of here isn't too difficult. Inside, it has all the usual 7-Eleven amenities, including hot foods like pizza, burgers and hot dogs, plus the obligatory Slurpee machine (replete with sticky floor in its immediate vicinity during this heatwave). They also have a public bathroom. The drink coolers and snack displays were pretty well-stocked, even on a 90-degree day. Employees here are usually friendly, although there was kind of a wack crew working today, on the Fourth of July. One of the cashiers - a young woman with tattoos on the inside of her forearms - dropped an F-bomb, and loudly complained about the customer she had just rang up, because he pulled out some coins from his pocket after she had already given him his change. The other cashier - a man who appeared in his 40s - who waited on me, had kind of an odd vibe about him, as if he was much too happy to be working. He also handed me my change in an annoying way, practically letting the bill drop before I was able to grab it. He reminded me of a Mel Gibson during his crazy state, actually. Normally, I would deduct a star for this dynamic duo, but I'll give 'em a pass, since they were game enough to work on a holiday.
