You've probably already seen the other reviews, but I'll throw in my own experience just to reinforce what others are saying. Their pricing is definitely deceptive/intended to make you think the gas is cheap. I only realized it when I was selecting the gas and noticed the price being 30 cents more *UNLESS you pay for a car wash*. This explained why I saw a random couple pull up next to me then, seconds later, leave. I think LA/CA (in my dreams? at the federal level) need to step up to address this issue. The large sign should display the credit card price, then offer discounts related to paying cash, paying debit, or paying for a car wash. read more

However, "deception", "fraud", "terrible customer service" and "not following through on promised goods and/or services as ordered/requested" WILL garner a business a 1-Star review from me. THE SETUP In this instance, the winning action was "deception". As my pictures indicate, this particular outlet of Shell Gas is counting on you not reading anything other than the numbers on the gas sign. You know them: the large numbers you quickly count on as you scan a particular gas station - possibly amongst a corner of 2,3 or even 4 gas stations where you want to capture what you believe to be the fairer vendor selling gas. In this instance, the gas station has the large numbers up as all stations do. However, what they also have up - and what most of us might miss, or not comprehend quickly at the time as we are multi-tasking, trying to navigate time - that the price listed for each grade of gas is what the give WHEN IT IS WITH A SEPARATELY BOUGHT CARWASH. PRICE DIFFERENTIAL And the price differential is not inconsequential. It was actually 30 cents more at $3.99 than the advertised street sign rate of $3.69. They may argue that they had listed near the prices "with carwash." But I would argue and point out that most stations don't enlist such deceptive shenanigans with motorists only scanning the signs for numbers. I caught this difference because the person at the pump did NOT and were cursing on the way back to their car. First off, I am a local and live within a block of this business. For the passed two years, I have had ONLY bad experiences at this location. Arguments with the cashier, deceiving gas prices, dirty/disgusting pumps, sticky handles, and the list goes on. 5pm 4/10/19 SCREW THIS GAS STATION. My car was super dusty from all the winds last night, so I decided to get gas here and run it through the wash. Wash completes, and the inside green light turns on to drive away. As I drive forward the dryer turns off. And stays off. I talk to the attendant and he says it's not broken and that I probably dont know how to follow directions. Are you f*cking kidding me? Do NOT come here! The manager Bernahu Dimitsu is rude, condescending, and evasive, as is his cashier, Ashenafi. Long story short, I ended up reporting them to Shell itself as they refused to give me access to my he owner. This Shell car wash stole my money. The cashier basically called me a liar, yawned and then also laughed at me. Here is the deal. The machine turned off AFTER i paid but before the person in front of me finished their car wash. The man in the car in front of me had to get out of their car and go inside because the machine turned completely off. He came back, they turn the machine on and he finishes his wash. I remained at the entrance and i waited for the machine to direct me to move forward. The machine remained off. I think, eh no big deal, i go inside and tell her, hey i paid before the machine turned off. I say it with a smile and i am lighthearted about it. I don't want to get into exactly what was said to me, because i hate confrontation and will just get upset again, but she was completely  dismissive whilst at the same time being condescending and accusatory. It was a really upsetting experience. In the end, I told her that i was not getting out of the car wash line until i was either given the car wash i paid for, or my money back and she said fine get the car wash, just to get rid of me. So i walk back to my car and start the wash and it was not the 12 dollar wash. It was the basic 6 dollar wash. I understood so clearly at that moment why she had been smirking at me as i walked away. She took pleasure in the power she had at that moment. And it was so petty and mean.  It isn't only the money, it is the principle. I left the car wash in tears. Today is labor day. We are all working class citizens. I was splurging on a 12 dollar car wash. It was my treat to myself. This interaction was so offensive. People shouldn't be so mean to each other. Small kindnesses go a really  long way. If she had just been understanding, i would have felt heard and valued. But she chose to do the opposite. I will be complaining to shell corporate as well. This business cannot continue to operate this way. It starts with management. It starts with the owner and operator of this shell location. These other reviews are an indication of the incompetence that exists from the top down.  Anyway. Sometimes we have to pay with actual money to learn life lessons. Today's lesson cost me $6. This place needs to be investigated by the better business bureau. Not only were they incredibly rude and unhelpful when my daughter came in yesterday, but there was a big oil slick near the water and air which she slipped on, fell, and hurt herself pretty badly. The attendant would not even give her paper towels to wipe the black oil off her clothing, or water to wash off her bloody arm, much less apologize for the oil slick or offer her help of any kind!!
