Being there first thing in the morning made my day! The location is in a busy intersection in Gonzales so it's a little challenging getting out of the property. From the moment I opened the door, I was greeted by an atmosphere that can only be described as "surprisingly bathroom-like." The fluorescent lighting provided a soothing glow somewhere between a hospital hallway and a supermarket freezer aisle. The sink was particularly impressive. Water came out when I turned the handle, which is exactly the sort of dependable engineering I look for in a public restroom. The paper towel dispenser also performed admirably, dispensing a paper towel after only a brief struggle. Five stars for persistence. The toilet itself appeared to be securely attached to the floor, which inspired considerable confidence. The seat was approximately the temperature I expected, and the flush produced a satisfying sound that suggested several gallons of water had been sent heroically into the plumbing system. There was also soap available, although I cannot confirm whether it was actually soap because I did not conduct laboratory testing. Still, it looked soapy, and sometimes that is enough. Overall, this bathroom delivered a memorable experience for a room whose primary purpose is to be forgotten immediately. Would I specifically drive across town to visit it again? Absolutely not. They left an impression this last hurricane season by personally directing traffic to keep it moving efficiently and stopping people from cutting. They do offer a few good treats and cheap coffee for being a smaller gas station. They do not allow loitering so there is no panhandling or people hanging outside which I appreciate as a young woman.
