I'd never been there before or even heard of it for that matter. The inside was a bit dark and I'd say it appears smaller from the inside than it does the outside. After queing for about 5 minutes, we ordered a couple of ciders and took them outside. I was surprised there weren't more benches and seating options than there were as there seemed to be a lot of people there. There wasn't much of an atmosphere as there was a complete mix of people, both young and old, but the venue was OK and perfect if you're looking for a quiet place to go and enjoy a drink.

Yes, this is one of my favourite times of the year - The Raven's Bonfire Extravaganza! I came here every year as a child and I continue to keep The Raven torch alive now with my friends. Once a year we get together, meeting on the train, transferring to a bus and ending the journey in a taxi. It's worth it, believe me! We start off the afternoon by grabbing a bite to eat from the vast menu, then we watch the late football game in the side bar. As the evening draws closer we go out into the huge garden for the spectacular fireworks display and enjoy a jacket potato, a burger or a hot dog from one of the food stands. The night ends with us putting our final coins into the jukebox and we dance the night away. The pub got refurbished last October so I popped in to have a nose around. It looks amazing. The menus have been updated, the garden has been spruced up and the layout of the pub is more open and welcoming. The only downside is that they have taken out the jukebox but...they've replaced it with a quiz machine, so I was kept happy. I can't wait to go back this October to enjoy another great night out.

My husband and I already heard about the food reputation of this pub so we trek to the village of Curdworth, in Coleshill, to meet his friend and wife for a perfect meal. We had been in Curdworth before enjoying other nice pubs in the area but I have to say, White Horse is a 5 out of 5 experience! Checking their deals, we decided for a Wednesday visit when there is a steak night when 2 meals + a bottle of wine costs £29.95. Considering the size and selection of steaks and also the the vast wine list, the meal was not pricey at all. This very cozy pub is an invitation for those who want to bring your family, partner or just want to treat yourself with good meal and good drinks. Update: I just forgot to mention this pub sponsors a local team called Coleshill Athletic which our friend Simon plays for and he probably will be very happy now that I mentioned it! So, go Coleshill Athletic!

The halloumi came with chips, mushy peas and a gorgeous gherkin relish. The gherkin relish was so nice, the waitress went and got some more for me! It was priced at £9.5o, so not cheap but definitely worth it. I had the Melba crème brulé for dessert, it was nice but I think I prefer my creme brulé as just that rather than with an added layer of sponge as this had. The pub has a feel of a countryside village pub so didn't really feel like I was by Birmingham.

The place really has character to it, and I have to say, regarding the copious amounts of wooden beams holding the ceiling up, it feels as thought the inside of the building should be listed as some sort of relic. The punters who drink here are also very old-worldy, and I always feel like I've stepped back in time when I've gone inside. I really love the selection of drinks sold here, and I usually buy a few different glasses of wine. But it's not any old wine, flavours range from strawberry to cherry to elderflower to plum to dandelion to nettle. I'm yet to try the nettle, next time eh! But all the ones I've tried so far have been very delicious, rich and strong! One thing that's very annoying about this pub is the opening times. Everything is very hazy, because the Griffin states that it closes at lunch times, but then seems to open whenever it feels like it. I've tried to go there at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm and it's been closed. Surely they should be open the majority of the day to bring in drinkers.

Although food is really good up there, the drinks are also above average for the area. The fact is that The Cock Inn is a really good pub and it's probably one of my favourites visited in that locale. For some many reasons, starting with its decor, and its touch of rustic style with some colourful rooms. That is modern for a country kind of pub. Secondly, its beer garden that is magnificent. If the weather helps, it's likely to be packed. As I quite enjoy the idea of sharing meals, The Cock Inn seems to guess exactly what the customer is looking for. The menu in this pub is not economic in price or in options. From pizza to what it's called leaves and can be translated as veggie meals, The Cock Inn caters for all public. Honestly, their fixed price meal are not that bad and maybe because its fame of pricey establishment, they're trying to attract more varied pockets. The list of drinks, wines and beers are also vast. This is a pretty popular and busy pub during the evenings and according to some locals, a lot of people also use this bar for a "pre-club-bar" before trekking to The Bell Air Nightclub at the Belfry Golf complex. Posh indeed!
