The museum is very well done and takes you through the history of the Civil Rights Movement in a way that is both educational and powerful. There is so much to read, see, and experience that we spent several hours here and still felt like we could have spent more time. The most moving part of the visit was seeing the Lorraine Motel and standing outside Room 306, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spent his final moments. It is hard to describe the feeling of being there in person. As a teacher and a parent, I especially appreciated how the museum encourages important conversations about history, equality, and justice. The exhibits are thoughtfully put together and tell stories that everyone should hear. I would definitely recommend wearing comfortable shoes and giving yourself plenty of time because this is not a place you want to rush through. The experience stays with you long after you leave. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Memphis and a place I believe everyone should visit at least once.

I came here because the place I wanted to donate has been closed twice in a row while trying to drop off donations. Now, the people working here are more than just nice people, they are wonderful human beings. I have actually been here a few times and every time I am here, everyone I meet are some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. That alone makes this a good place to donate as the jobs provided are for really good people.

They serve beverages, pastries, a meat sandwich, a peanut butter sandwich, a 16-ounce cup of soup, and fruit, candy or chips. They need volunteers Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. When you first walk in you feel you are on hallowed ground. We decorate for the kids each year for Halloween, bring tons of candy and fill up the "Junk Food" Pantry w/ goodies! Great stuff at marked-down prices. I understand their Facebook site lists more info on upcoming sale items. Otherwise, what they have on the floor can never be predicted. I didn't notice any clothing and definitely no food items. All for a great cause.
