Pastor Jonathan is amazing, the song and worship service is top notch and the church is involved in so many community affairs that it is just good to know that I am a part of something that is a part of the community. The church has such an incredible history that I am sure most people reading this are well aware of it. Coming from California though, it is pleasant to finally meet the Falwell's and to see their ministry in action. When I was in my early 20s I was a radio DJ at a Christian radio station in Santa Maria California and I remember playing Jerry Falwell Sr.'s messages every week. It was a very emotional experience to attend my first service and to go to the Falwell Memorial on the campus for the first time. If you are in Lynchburg, there really is no other place that you should attend church, especially if you only have one Sunday to experience Lynchburg at it's finest. When I walked through the door and heard U-2's "We Still Haven't Found What We're Looking For" sung with such fervor in the context of seeking Christ I knew this was my church. This type of church is not for everyone but it rocks my soul when I go and I always leave there feeling spiritually uplifted. The stage is filled with exceptionally talented and gifted artists all fully shrouded in their faith which is why their voices are particulary clear and their smiles so wide during the whole service. What I love about this church is that it truly is unconditional. On any given day one can walk through the doors and see a guy with a cut off shirt and tattoos, a girl with gothic black hair coloring and piercings, a woman in $300.00 shoes and a guy sporting his Timberland's and fleece all standing in the same circle smiling and sharing stories. To me, that is what Christianity is about. If one truly believes in God, then they have to accept that God made us different and if you believe that God accepts everyone, then why shouldn't you. Give Blue Ridge a Try this Sunday. Oh yeah...make sure you attend a baptism, guaranteed to make you weep like a little baby.

CCL is committed to solid verse by verse Bible teaching, Spirit-filled worship, and great community. I met my now wife there when we were in high school youth group, married, counseled, and now raising kids. My life has been changed and greatly impacted by the ministry of CCL.

This church has seen NUMEROUS changes over the past two years, not only it exterior, but the interior and the hearts of its members too. This church has a poor history, but now it is changed for the better. The motto is "real people, real passion, real faith" and I can honestly say that the leadership and the members of this church strive to live by that everyday. Pastor Mike has an uncanny way of bringing a sermon to life for someone with illustrations and skits and props, as well as telling the history and background of a passage, so you can understand the text in its context. Recently the nursery has been completed, and the parking lot has a new gravel overflow lot. The children ministry is incredible, with an experience children's pastor at the reigns. Definitely a place I suggest to all my friends, and strangers alike. The worship is contemporary, and heartfelt.
